I just can not tell, but does Marigold have beauty moles or does she have acne? I was thinking by her apparent lack of hygiene that it was acne, but after taking a "closer" look, I thought they could be moles too. What does anyone else think about these?
On that same note, does anyone else find Marigold attractive for a cartoon? I do not know if it is her shy, social awkwardness that does it, but I just think she is an absolute doll. She looks good as she is, but I bet if she did her hair up nice she would be definitely be the new hottie of QC...I feel weird and creepy for saying all that, but we invented the interwebs for total cartoon attractiveness anonymity, right? =)
Opinions!

It is creepy, but much less creepy than some previous posts.
Anyway, shit is blackheads. Bitch don't wash her face.
-
She has pimples and some moles. A little from column A, a little from Column B...
-
How can you put makeup on your computer screen?
We can try to rebuild it but we may break our monitors in the process.
Anyways why don't you ask Marigold ..you two might hit it off. :]
-
Marten described Faye as "hot" within two strips of her first appearance, and in general Jeph seems to be straightforward about bringing it up when a cast member is characterized as being attractive(*). It's too early to tell, but it looks like Marigold's going to be portrayed as a physically unremarkable, socially awkward but paradoxically endearing person.
(*) Dora, Sven, Angus, Pennelope, Bailey, and Marten in the skimpy shirt have all had other characters use the word "hot" to describe them.
-
She has two moles on her right(?) side of her cheek and the rest is acne.
-
I just call em dots on her face.
-
How can you put makeup on your computer screen?
very carefully.
-
i assume they are mostly acne, with two moles. the moles don't change position much, and they are obviously a different color from the acne. whereas, when jeph draws in the acne for marigold, he just throws it in haphazardly. the acne is a device to illustrate how nerdy and unwashed she is.
-
I prefer to think that Marigold is a martian but she doesn't know it. The martians communicate with the "acne". Marigold changes it subconsciously.

MAH LOVELY LADY DOTZ

YOU CAN LOOK BUT U CAN'T TOUCH
-
YOU CAN LOOK BUT U CAN'T TOUCH
Mainly because she's an internet cartoon character.
:-)
-
also because, if you could touch them, would you really want to?
-
Great. You brought up the possibility, and thus ensured that SOMEONE wants to.
I forgot, what was that called? Schroedinger's Fetish?

Rule 34! (http://xkcd.com/305/)
-
Or perhaps Quantum Fetish Mechanics (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=715).
-
Ah, thank you. That's the one I was trying to recall.
-
Heh....Marigold-based acne fetish porn. Or mole fetish?
-
In Marigold's case? Both.
-
She's pretty ripe to have the Ugly Duckling rebirth as a hottie when she is coaxed out of her social butterfly cocoon by a gracious and gentlemanly Marten, only to have her aspirations dashed when Dora puts her foot down or Marten [awkwardly, and at the last possible moment] does the 'right thing' by denying her.
I'm looking forward to it, even if it's the easiest softball pitch since the non-human punchline 3rd character.

I understand the first part of this but i need more beer to understand the rest of what your saying.

I think I see a broadsword in Marigold's future.....

Rule 34! (http://xkcd.com/305/)
Not quite. Rule 34 is "There is porn of it." What you are looking for is Rule 36, "It is someone's fetish."

She just needs some Clearasil and a haircut. :|

are you thinking what I am thinking?! MAKEOVER!

I concur, Wesssley
-
Why does she need a haircut?
-
Apparently she doesn't need much help in the boob department...damn, she's on par with Faye...at least in the corset.
-
Why does she need a haircut?
Well, if not a haircut at least run a comb through it once in a while. Seems like personal hygeine is a secondary objective, and that doesn't help social situations...

This comic needs some ridiculously unattractive people to balance out the relative good-looking-ness of the lead characters. In fact, it needs some ridiculously different people to balance out the relative same-ness of the lead characters. Let's have some representation - fatties, skinnies, really really pale people, really really dark people, olive-skinned people, super-tall folks, super-small folks.
Maybe someone with a horrible fake tan.
Perhaps it's also time to introduce a differently-abled person. (Maybe Jeph should break Faye's legs.)
Can we maybe throw a hunchback in there for good measure?
-
We can manage with one skinny-fat dark (as Amir) chick with vitiligo , who is also rather tall, but goes hunchback low due to a recent back injury. There, all in one go!

I really hope you're kidding. This isn't a children's cartoon from the '80s, tokenism is not necessary if it would be unrealistic.
-
We need a small diminutive bird who yells expletives all the time.
-
And a robot buddy who does stuff.
-
I just think there should stop being more characters added every week and more focus on the ones that are already introduced, and maybe deeper stories.

pulp fiction?
-
Attractive or unattractive, Pintsize doesn't care. WOOB WOOB WOOB!
-
I think that the extra characters are being managed well. Now, if he adds many more, it's gonna get kinda hard to follow.

don't worry about it too much. I love Hannelore and I make this known. your just fitting in thats all.
-
You let everyone know. In a creepy way. Creeper
-
That's fantastic, glad to know I'm creepy, just not the creepiest kid on the block. A comfortable mix between that emo kid you wish would just off himself already and full-blown molestache and toupee dude who stares at the little kids at the elementary school.
Surprised I was to see so many responses to this...glad to see so many opinions...acne or moles or cartoon character, doesn't matter, HER CORSET MADE HER BEWBIES LOOK FANTASTICAL! WOOOOOO!

We must hope that Marigold's mole is not a precursor to skin cancer. Because that would make it...
...wait for it...
...a Deathmøle!
Badum-tish!

That pun hurt...
-
I think my pun resistance is fading... I found myself giggling instead of groaning.
Maybe it's just the senility talkin'. Yeah, that must be it.
-
that pun = fail
-
I think one of the dots on Marigold's face is actually Jeph's way of representing the curvy part on the end of her nose.
-
Strip 1492 shows she has two.
-
Anyone else notice that "Marigold" is an anagram for "Id glamor"? We can pretend Jeph did this on purpose and means to imply that Marigold's subconscious is sexy.
"Marigold's AnthroPC" leads to a funny anagram, but a little voice that I've learned to trust says I shouldn't post it.
-
I think it's pretty obvious that Marigold's character is an indication that Jeph is a post-op f2m transgender (transman).
-
Clearly he's a cross-dressing hermaphrodite man who identifies as a woman -- and he is post-op, but the op went wrong.
