Hi. I have been listening to this worthy gentleman today, Ólafur Arnalds. He's received quite a bit of glowing praise from thr world at large. I was just curious if anyone else had heard of him, and if they had thoughts. If this post fades away, so be it.

Day VII is my favorite track. (:

I really like his music a lot. His other two releases, Eulogy for Evolution and Variations of Static EP, are also very good and worth getting. He's working on a new album, according to his twitter.

He's great! I'm a big fan of that modern chamber classical stuff paired with electronics in general and Arnalds does a particularly good job of it. He's pretty excellent live too (saw him open for Gregor Samsa, he played piano and laptop and was backed up by a string quartet). Looking forward to a new album! If you like him, Johann Johannssonn would probably appeal to you as well.

I love focused composition, pianos, strings, and electronic music.
When you bake them all into a cake of awesome, count me in. :D I will look up Johann.

I found it very pretty, but very boring. There was hardly ever any tension, and so I never really cared what was coming next, but I'm a bit pretentious when it comes to my concert music. I've tried not to be, but most of the stuff I listen to is the inaccessible stuff that he complains about (for good reason, because a lot of modern concert music is written for other modern composers/musicians). It honestly touches me more than his music does.

That's a fair point. It wasn't very tense. It just made me feel good. (: I think strings speak a divine language. Don't even get me started on cello suites. I'm hoping to buy one so I can start playing again.

Kick ass, I had no idea he had anything new coming out. Looking forward to this.
