So, here's an idea.
My friends and I used to do this years ago and it was always great fun for a music-inclined message board community, so I've taken the idea and reappropriated it for all the decade lists coming out.
Step Number 1: We, the Questionable Content Music Board, nominate our favorite albums. Nominate as many albums as you want. If you nominate more than once, your choices are void and you will be barred from voting.
Step Number 2: The votes are tallyed by me and, after being tallyed, turn into a seeding system for a HUGE FUCKING TOURNAMENT. Cutting off at 64 or 128 albums, it becomes an NCAA basketall style tournament.
Step Number 3: I post the matchups in a new thread where you vote in each matchup, making for entertaining surpises (wtf are the Starlight Mints doing in round 4?) and terrific upsets, etcetera. Note: If you don't vote in every matchup, none of your votes count.
Step Number 4: After voting, I tally up each match. Then, in a new thread, disclose the results with myself, my Vice President of Tournament Affairs and a third (hopefully one of you?) doing a running commentary on the matchups. Then, the new matchups are determined, and a new round begins, until we whittle it down to THE DEFINITIVE GREATEST ALBUM OF THE DECADE AS CHOSEN BY YOU, THE QC MUSIC BOARD. Um. Hence the title of this thread? Also, if fail to vote in every match, myself, the VP and our third will ridicule you at the end of the thread and bar you from voting in subsequent rounds.
Are you in? If so, START NOMINATING>
For anyone interested in joining myself and my Vice President of Tournament Affairs in our demented commentary, please say so in your nominations.
Full Disclosure: Each member of the Tournament Council will be able to knock out the lowest seed for an album of their choosing during the seeding process. The council also determines tiebreakers (which is why we need an odd number).
Thanks a lot!
-
Sure lets do another one of these.
Step Number 1: We, the Questionable Content Music Board, nominate our favorite albums. Nominate as many albums as you want. If you nominate more than once, your choices are void and you will be barred from voting.
Lame rule though
-
Oh hey, didn't we do that like 6 months ago? I'm in to start again though.
-
We did do this and it was fun! I mean, I didn't think much of the later rounds in terms of the choices but still, I'd be up for voting for stuff again.
-
Oh hey, didn't we do that like 6 months ago? I'm in to start again though.
That was sort of a, greatest album of all time thing.
This is going to be harder because I am barely into modern music and can think of only three albums off the top of my head.
-
Step Number 1: We, the Questionable Content Music Board, nominate our favorite albums. Nominate as many albums as you want. If you nominate more than once, your choices are void and you will be barred from voting.
Wait, what? Do you mean multiple votes for the same album?
In any event, once this gets cleared up I am so game.
-
Clarification on that rule:
Nominate as many albums as you want.
But please do not post multiple times voting for the same albums.
If you want to post again and nominate OTHER albums, that's fine. But don't inflate the vote count for the albums you like by voting for them over and over.
That being said, feel free to begin!
-
Hmm...I'm gonna say "Discovery" by Daft Punk for now, but that's likely gonna change.
-
Yeah, let's have a limit on how many albums
15 Albums.
-
I'm in, but only because Neutral Milk Hotel is disqualified. I'll post a list later.

at first I was gonna try and decide which albums these past 10 years have most changed music, but that's kinda lame, and was too hard since there's probably honestly only like 5 of ose in the past 10 that are really worth a damn, and even then they probably weren't that good, just different. so instead I'll just post the albums that I've continually gone back to. the ones with the most staying power. I figure that's a pretty good prerequisite for "greatest album" hell an album can be the most amazing thing since I discovered masturbation but if I only listened to it once or twice then it probably wasn't all that great (tv on the radio's cookie mountian is an example of this. GREAT ALBUM but I really did stop listening to it after like a month.)
- Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary (literally haven't stopeed listening to it since it came out. such a fantastic record)
- Eminem - Marshal Mathers LP (hate on it if you want, but it really is one of the most amazing rap records to ever come out)
- Girl Talk - Feed the Animals (best mixing ever, on par with daft punks alive, and more amusing due to the awesome rap-alt rock pair ups)
- Bomb the Music Industry - Goodbye Cool World (they are amazing)
- Bomb the Music Industry - Get Warmer (did I say these guys are amazing?)
- Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights (probably my favorite album by them)
- Kings of Leon - Because of the Times (they're awesome! why aren't they catching on in America as much as everywhere else?)
- Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Some Loud Thunder (woooo!)
- The Aquabats - Myths, Legends, and Other Amazing Adventures Vol. 2 (the Kings of sticking with ridiculous conepts at their best)
- Radiohead - Kid A (not the first cd by them I heard, but probably their most... awesome?)
-
Electric Wizard - Dopethrone
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To heaven
Burial - Untrue
Colour Haze - Ewige Blumenkraft
Dead Meadow - Dead Meadow
The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots

Low - Things We Lost In The Fire
Bob Dylan - Love & Theft
Beulah - Yoko
-
Burial - Untrue
Lulu Rouge - Bless You
Good choices, I only just decided I didn't love them quite enough to put them on my list but that's probably just because I haven't had as long with them compared to most of my picks.

For me, this is the best metal album of the decade, I doubt something from this year or the next one will be half as good.
-
The Paper Chase - Now You Are One Of Us
Botch - We Are The Romans
Good list. Emphasis on these two because I've only heard "god bless your black heart" and I've never heard any Botch, but Dave Knudson's a great guitarist who's wasted on that other band and Botch did hang out with a lot of other great bands. Where should I start? I'm sure I can track it all down on my own once I have some kind of idea where to begin. Actually wait, scratch that, I guess your nomination would be a pretty good starting point.
I guess this post fulfilled it's purpose before I even hit 'submit'. Ah well.
-

Hm.
So tempted to nominate every Hannah Montana album just for the lulz but won't because I couldn't even bring myself to start finding out what drek that its released

Iron & Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days
Ministry - Rio Grande Blood
Mogwai - Mr. Beast

Los Campesinos! - Hold On Now, Youngster...
Deerhunter - Micocastles/Weird Era Cont.
Menomena - Friend and Foe
-
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
What did you say?
-
I feel like there should be a date and time for nominations to end.
What says everyone to September 1st, 11:59 pm? That gives us just about exactly a week for noms, and I will attempt my best to get the brackets up for voting by that weekend.
-
Literally the second person ever?
Okay, I shouldn't misuse the word literally, given how much it annoys me when other people do it..
-
Good list. I guess this post fulfilled it's purpose before I even hit 'submit'. Ah well.
Well, Botch's American Nervosa is a great record too but it's disqualified due to being too late nineties and We Are The Romans is generally considered the classic so a good place to start. And I never cared for Minus The Bear either. God Bless Your Black Heart is good but I think Now You Are One Of Us was a big improvement, I'm immensely jealous of the lyrical skill on that album.
I'm glad I only made a list of twelve since I've realised some glaring omissions:
Scott Walker - The Drift
The Hold Steady - Separation Sunday
Discordance Axis - The Inalienable Dreamless
-
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
What did you say?
Fuck your mother, buddy.
-
No no, it was not to criticise your taste. It was to point out that AanAllein wasn't the only one who chose this one over Funeral.

Boris-Flood
Low-Things We Lost In The Fire
Sleater-Kinney-One Beat

Godspeed You! Black Emperor-Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven
Mogwai-Happy Songs for Happy People
Mastodon-Leviathan
Future of the Left-Travels with Myself and Another
Isis-Panopticon
Battles-Mirrored
It is still pretty early on Future of the Left, sure, but I feel strongly about that album. Also I'm doubling up on OM and Sleater-Kinney nominations since they are a couple of my absolute favorite bands and I will personally see their omission an injustice.
Edit: Also I would suggest anyone nominating Godspeed should probably make sure that they get the stylization of the name and album title like others who have nominated it. Just in case anyone tallying the noms is doing it by term searching or something similar, that way they won't miss anything because of slight differences in spelling or punctuation (I would think the your/yr difference is going to be the only thing that could possibly be an issue.)

No no, it was not to criticise your taste. It was to point out that AanAllein wasn't the only one who chose this one over Funeral.
It's not necessarily that I like Neon Bible's music better -- I've listened to Neighbourhood #3 more than their all their sophomore album combined -- but it was by far the best-produced album I've listened to this decade. Funeral was very much a debut album, and despite being a very damn good thank you very much, it just doesn't hold a candle to Neon Bible in its complexity. Funeral reminds me of the film Amélie, whereas Neon Bible is my Children Of Men.
What I found most powerful about Neon Bible is that it was an album I could listen to with my eyes closed, letting the world they had created bounce around inside my head. It's an album I can contemplate, and it's an album I can pick apart piece by piece and see everything beautiful about it.
-
Since my post only had 14 albums on it I am going to add another because fuck it is astoundingly good and anyone unfamiliar should get on last.fm and have a listen. I'm pretty sure it's all up there.

Man, no band, regardless of how much I like them, has ever released 4 albums all of which I would consider among the ten best of the decade from which they emerged.
-
Just as a clarification: You do not need to worry about formatting of band names/album titles, as I'm going to be tallying noms BY HAND OH GOD THE PAIN>
For reals, though, don't sweat it.
-
Man, no band, regardless of how much I like them, has ever released 4 albums all of which I would consider among the ten best of the decade from which they emerged.
Well, you have a point but after reviewing the list of all the albums i considered there are just no other albums that i enjoy more than those four, so whatever.

Sorrry SWM, but The Gay Parade was released in 1999. (If I did understand the rules, it has to be albums released in the 2000s, if not, I'm sorry .)
-
so we're talking ten years counting back from the end of the year and not from...right now?
if that's the case then yeah, i guess i better think of a new one...
-

This Will Destroy You - s/t
Spiritualized - Songs in A & E
Low - The Great Destroyer
-
It is albums of this particular decade, the 00s, that are up for nomination, yes.
-
gotcha. list edited appropriately
-
So far I think BSS is rocking this thread.
-
I really wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if You Forgot it in People won overall. That is one brilliant album.
-
True.
What I don't understand is why Hissing Fauna is getting more votes than Skeletal Lamping.
-
Man, finals are going to be You Forgot It In People vs. s/t. This will be hardcore.
-
Hissing Fauna is better in every single way
-
Seconded
-
The Notwist - Neon Golden
The National - Alligator

Los Campesinos - Hold On Now Youngster
Third Eye Blind - Out of the Vein
Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism
The Avalanches - Since I Left You
The Main Drag - Yours as Fast as Mine
Fall Out Boy - Take This to Your Grave
Ok so I really only think about... mmmm 2 of these have any chance of getting past the first round. But hey, more fun in the seeding pool eh?
-
your list
-
Minutemen - Double Nickels On the Dime
What?
-
Skinny Fists will win.
Come on Skinny Fists!
-
I also thought I'd ask about someone nominating Dopesmoker. Since the album was recorded in the 90s but released in the 00s can we really consider it an album of this decade? Especially considering that edited versions of the album appeared in the 90s (that is, Jerusalem). I don't care either way, if we're going to allow it then I will probably change a nomination.
-
Just realized I left out Boxer... so I sadly had to take out Clann Zu - Rua. :(
-
Actually, the reissue of Aeroplane over the sea should win, Pitchfork gave it full marks!
-
Minutemen - Double Nickels On the Dime
What?
Haha yeah about that... I got a little carried away.
-
Actually, the reissue of Aeroplane over the sea should win, Pitchfork gave it full marks!
I don't think reissues should count and even if they did and even if somehow this album made it into the first round, it wouldn't stand a chance on this forum since enough people would vote against it on principal.
-
Here are mine, with which I'm sure no one will agree:
The Bad Plus - These Are The Vistas
The Bad Plus - Give
Chris Potter - Follow the Red Line: Live at the Village Vanguard
Chris Potter - Underground
Dave Holland Quintet - Critical Mass
Brad Mehldau - Live in Tokyo
Fly - Fly
Happy Apple - Youth Oriented
Wayne Shorter - Beyond the Sound Barrier
Rene Marie - Experiment in Truth
I'm leaving my list at ten, so that I can add more The Bad Plus when I can't stand leaving it at two albums any more. I also might add Chris Potter's other live at the village vanguard album.
Edit: Good thing I left it at 10, because I immediately have two to add:
Pat Metheny Trio - Live
Demons and Wizards - Touched by the Crimson King
-
Let's see if I can do this...
Agalloch - Against The Grain
Black Moth Super Rainbow - Dandelion Gum (I'm actually a bigger fan of Falling Through A Field, but I want at least one of my choices to make it past the first round)
Colour Haze - Colour Haze
Dead Meadow - Dead Meadow
Deastro - Keeper's
Eluvium - Talk Amongst The Trees
Future of the Left - Travels With Myself and Another

Mastodon - Crack the Skye
Portishead - Third
Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - The Tyranny of Distance
Windir - 1184
-
There is decidedly too little Weakerthans love in this thread :-(
-
Both Left & Leaving and Reconstruction Site just missed my shortlist.
-
I clearly have no taste in music.
Efterklang - Parades
Ladytron - Witching Hour
Mono - Hymn to the Immortal Wind
65daysofstatic - The Fall of Math
God Is An Astronaut - Far From Refuge
Gojira - The Way Of All Flesh
Joan of Arc - In Rape Fantasy And Terror Sex We Trust
Red Sparowes - Every Red Heart Shines Toward the Red Run
El Ten Eleven - These Promises Are Being Videotaped
I Am Robot And Proud - Uphill City
Annie Gosfield - Lost Signals and Drifting Satellites
Cursive - The Ugly Organ
Ellen Allien - Sool
KYTE - s/t
Xploding Plastix - Treated Timber Resists Rot
I probably put about half as much thought into that list as I should have. I'm still thinking about throwing Nite Versions by Soulwax in there somewhere after seeing it elsewhere in the thread, but I'm not sure if I really like it quite that much. The dilemma is that I have albums like Lost Signals and Drifting Satellites that absolutely no one else would even listen to, but whatever.
Is there a deadline after it isn't possible to change decisions?
EDIT: Changed the Of Sinking Ships... s/t to Hymn to the Immortal Wind.
-
You have until September 1st at 11:59.
-
You have until September 1st at 11:59.
If you had just said no, then I wouldn't have to think about whether or not I was to add Sound of Silver or Hymn to the Immortal Wind. Now that I'm actually investing mental faculty into this, it's getting tougher.
:(:(:(:(:(:(:(.

The Mountain Goats - The Sunset Tree
My Education - Bad Vibrations
Owls - Owls
The Panics - Cruel Guards
-
Man, I was hoping Blackwater Park would at least make it into the second round.
Or is this the wrong forum for that? Should I change one of my nominations, on account of its gonna be struck down as if by divine lightning?
-
Funny, considering Blackwater Park made it through the initial voting of the QC's All Time Favourite Record contest we did a little while back.
-

Though I haven't heard it in several years, I remember falling in love with that Postal Service album and thinking it was absolutely incredible. Pure unadulterated pop music full of charm and some of the catchiest, most accessible, instantly gratifying music I've ever heard. I'd probably nominate it on these things alone.
-
Give Up, the oral sex of good music.
-
What's the oral sex of bad music?
-
Spinal Tap - Lick my Love Pump

I'm really, really, REALLY surprised I've seen so many people put down as Merriweather Post Pavillion on this list. I get putting Animal Collective on your list but that album was no where near their best. Either way, here is mine:
Modest Mouse - Building Nothing Out of Something
Mos Def - Black on Both Sides
Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
Ryan Adams - Gold
Jean Grae - This Week
The Exploding Hearts - Shattered
Built to Spill - There's Nothing Wrong With Love
Jawbreaker - Dear You/24 Hour Revenge Therapy/Bivuoac (please don't make me choose)

Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
St. Vincent - Marry Me
Pixies - Doolittle

-
Juli, like half of those albums weren't released in the last 10 years.
-

Eight albums from the nineties and a selection from the eighties?
We allow neither the inattentive nor the mentally retarded to take part in our tournament. By executive decision, you are banned from nominating albums or casting votes.
-
Er, that's a bit harsh don't you think? Can't she just resend her invalid votes?
-
Ok figured out my last five albums:
Avalanches - Since I Left you
Daft Punk - Discovery
Porcupine Tree - In Absentia
New Pornographers - Mass Romantic
Tiga - Sexxor
BAM
-
We allow neither the inattentive nor the mentally retarded to take part in our tournament. By executive decision, you are banned from nominating albums or casting votes.
Kid, shut up.
Julia, if you want just recast some votes here.
-
Also, '99 should count.
-
I believe the thread title takes "decade" to mean "the decade of the 00s" as opposed to "the last ten years" which would then mrean we can't select albums released before august 1999 anyway.
-
This contest is for albums released from January 1st, 2000 until present.
-
CITIZENS OF THE QC MUSIC BOARD
WE HAVE ASSUMED CONTROL
THERE ARE NO MODERATORS ANY MORE
ONLY TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS
-
I feel like making the obligatory all your base are belong to us joke.
OH SHIT I JUST DID OH FUCK.
Anywho, part of the humor and fun of this (for us) is having to deal with our insane rules and humor.
You'll come to either love it or want to shoot us in the head for it. It happens.
But that doesn't mean we won't run a damn fine tournament!
STICKING TO RIDICULOUS RULES FTW> WOO>
-
You do realise that this is OUR (music forums) poll, not YOUR poll and by starting this thread you have offered to be its caretaker, rather than its dominating overlord? And that if start being a pomous idiot we can just start another thread and port all nominations over?
I don't understand what you are trying to achieve here, is what I am saying, just chill dude and stop talking about banning people from voting so much like you had actual authority here, it's fucking creepy.
-

Anyone who allows a banned user to nominate or vote by proxy is also banned from tournament proceedings.
what are you, the fun police? why you gotta police our FUN?
(sticking it to the man)
-

This is an important post. I hope it doesn't need to be explained further.
-
Well, it's not necessarily about being dicks...
Oh, alright.
I kind of wanted to go forward as the character of the absent, well-intentioned, but kind of just goes along with it President to to the complete asshole of a Vice President (think the Bush presidency), but it might be more fun to go it as the young, intent on running this thing right President to the can't keep his fucking mouth shut Vice President (like the Obama presidency!)
Would that make everyone feel better?
-

-
What is happening.
Tommy I am banning you from the music forum for three weeks as punishment for not getting what is going on here.
-
Honestly, I feel bad that this has become a tempermental issue.
I truly did not think it would, nor did I think anyone would particularly care.
We were doing this as a laugh and, since no one is laughing, I am attempting to offer an olive branch.
So, if we move on, great. If not, great, too.
-
Still really depressed that I am apparently the only person to nominate Demon Days : (((((
PS don't feel bad dude but basically being the poll takin' dude around here requires a humourless attention to detail and also I am not sure people around here will "get" "your" "particular" "brand" "of" humour.
-
To be honest, my brand of humor is sitting back and watching my buddy bug people.
But, this time, I'm president, so I have to take the rap for his shit.
Which I don't want to do.
So, you know what, Veep? YOU ARE BANNED FROM TOURNAMENT PROCEEDINGS HAHAHAHA-ohwaitthatdefeatsthepurposeofeverythingijustsaid.
-
This is why we can't have nice things
-
Just start the tournament already, man.
-
Wow, you're a bunch of humorless crybabies.
Have fun posting in a forum where the moderators requisition threads every time somebody's feelings get hurt.
-
I don't think anyone's feeling got hurt. I think people just reacted to you being kind of an asshole.
-
yr all bannd
-
Our bannd could be your life.
-
Why can't things just be the things that they are sometimes, like a poll on music.
-
Because the internet is serious business!
Really, though, let's drop it and move on. I've got a few slots left for suggestions, so I'm going to throw in:
Devin Townsend - Accelerated Evolution
Charon - Songs for the Sinners (my only complaint about this entire album is that it's so short)
and I'll leave one more for more comtemplation.
-

-
So when does this topic become about bat dicks?
That's... that's how things work around here isn't it?
-
Still really depressed that I am apparently the only person to nominate Demon Days : (((((
I think a lot of these lists are also reminding people what albums were also created in the past decade. If I had remembered, it would probably have made mine as well.
But I have a few left over, so:
Beck - Guero.
Gorillaz - Demon Days.
-
Band/artist on right side, album on left, just to be clear.
15 albums I like most out of the 2010s, not ranked.
La Sanie des sičcles - Panégyrique de la dégénérescence - Peste Noire

EDIT 2: Added 15, but wondering if Windowlicker counts...as it's technically an EP.
-
So when does this topic become about bat dicks?
That's... that's how things work around here isn't it?
Syyooo....how 'bout them bat dicks?
EDIT: In addition to bat dicks, I would like to nominate Sigur Rós - Ágćtis Byrjun
EDIT AGAIN: Oh my dear scrotum, somebody else nominated Nachtmystium's Assassins: Black Meddle Pt. 1. I would like to second that nomination.
-
1.) REMINDER: VOTING ENDS TOMORROW AT 11:59PM, PLEASE HAVE ALL EDITS DONE BY THAT POINT.
2.) Can you embed HTML on this forum?
-
How about we discuss duck cocks instead? (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2003/09/03/)
Or maybe music, like my last spot will be taken up by:
Ra Ra Riot - "The Rhumb Line"
-
I have a feeling half my albums will get no votes, because people will never have even heard of them.
Maybe I should mediaf!re them. Is anyone interested in hearing any of the albums I posted?
EDIT: Well, I know some of them have been talked about on here..but there are some there I know hardly anyone on here knows.
-
It's probably a little late to be doing that now. I feel the same way about mine, but when I've put jazz up before, no one has really liked it, so I didn't bother.
-
I don't mean so that they will vote for them, I know they won't win. I'm just wondering in general if any look interesting to those who haven't heard them.
-
Peste Noire sounds interesting. There's no such thing as too much French black metal.
-
I'll upload that album definitely. It's truly a beautiful album, you'll definitely find something to love about it.
-
NONE OF THAT ANSWERS MY SOOPER IMPORTANT HTML QUESTION>
-
Sorry about the no html answer, but I don't think any of us know. You could give it a shot, and edit the post if it doesn't work?
I don't mean so that they will vote for them, I know they won't win. I'm just wondering in general if any look interesting to those who haven't heard them.
Oh, in that case, go forth and conquer.
-
From my Francophile self...
http://www.mediaf!re.com/?z0ds1jjnl52
Check out the cover art too (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/10/La_Sanie_des_si%C3%A8cles_-_Pan%C3%A9gyrique_de_la_d%C3%A9g%C3%A9n%C3%A9rescence.jpg), it goes along with the atmosphere of the album nicely.
I always imagine the Paris sewers when I listen to the more ambient parts of this album (especially #7, which is my favourite song on there)
-
DOES ANYONE WANT TO TAKE THE PLACE OF THE VP?
Would really like a third for the council.

I would love to see people's ages under their nominations- most everyone (myself not included, haha) has some really impressive breadth of taste!
-
Lots of people have their ages in their profiles, as I do. Just click their usernames.
Also, edited my nominations from Takk... to Ágætis byrjun in order to back up the only Sigur Rós that seems likely to win. I still like Takk... better, though.
-

EDIT: Well, I know some of them have been talked about on here..but there are some there I know hardly anyone on here knows.
I'll listen to them when it comes round to voting, that's half the reason I'm in this thread; to listen to some kickass albums.
-
Well, I already gave scarred a position on the council, so between Hat and E Spaceman, you'll have to choose, as the council needs an odd number to decide any/all tiebreakers that may crop up during voting.
Nominating ends at 11:59 PM tonight, so keep nominating! Yay!
E or Hat, either one of you can best reach me via AIM, handle: racecarbrown
-
VOTING IS ENDED THANKS A LOT THE BRACKETS WILL BE POSTED THIS WEEKEND, MORE ACCURATE DATE TO COME SOON>
-
Wait, I Am Not Amused, why is this so complicated? Why do you need a council? Why can't anyone who wants to just double check your count?
-
Um...
So I can have fun with it and don't have to just have to be a calculator?
The council is for doing commentary on the matches and match results, helping with seeding, and voting on tiebreakers in the results. It's to make this into more of an event, rather than just "X beat Y, see you tomorrow for Y versus Z".
I don't think it'd be as fun for anyone if it was reduced to that?
-
But see, the fun of the thread generally comes from the snide commentary of the voters. You can join in at will, too! You don't need a council of elders to enjoy a poll like this. You can count the votes, make the brackets, AND have fun little back-and-forths with the voters all at the same time. There's no stress to be super-organized, because that sort of thing turns a game into an actual boring election. The only thing that really needs to happen is for you and whoever else to count the votes accurately and make a little whizbang bracket for the next round.
-
"Akuma no Uta"
-
So uh.
Power corrupts.
-
I'm afraid that album came out in 1989 (http://www.theomegaorder.com/s.nl/it.A/id.16007/.f)
-
oh you
-
I'm looking forward to this, and hoping The Mantle does well.
-
But...
But I WANT to do commentary. When I've particpated in these things on other boards, that's the way I've done things and that's why I decided to do one here.
I can particpate with you in it through the thread AND do things this way as well.
I really don't understand where the anti-commentary thing is coming from?
-
We're not anti-commentary. We just don't know why it should be restricted to the council?
-
Why is it called The Council?
I vote we vote on the name of it.
-
This is why we can't have nice things
-
It's not restricted to the council, go ahead and talk and discuss all you want, I don't care.
It's just an additional thing.
The council's commentary will be within the body of the results.
Example: For the unvalling of the brackets, it will a bit like the following...
MATCH ONE: 1.) BAND X - ALBUM A VS. 16.) BAND Z - ALBUM B
Thing 1: Well, what the fuck. Band Z's third album was way better anyway, why the fuck wasn't that in instead of this one?
Thing 2: I disagree, you're fucking retarded.
Thing 1: You're right! Let's all get along forever.
MATCH TWO: 2.) BAND F - ALBUM D VS. 15.) BAND R - ALBUM K
blah blah blah
Etcetera. You guys can then commentate all you wish on everything else. Sorry if this was unclear!
EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION.
-
Awright, if Hat hasn't said anything i'll fill in.
-
Just to clarify my list comprised almost entirely of Animal Collective albums was a joke.
-
we do not need a Council and if we did it should be named Bob
-
Question.
Decade started in 1999? or 2000? Cause I see some 1999 albums in there.
-
Decade started in 2000. Basically, you can nominate albums from the year 2000 to this year (2009 for those who didn't know).
-
Sigur Ros' Agaetis Byrjun is in the voting. It was released in june of 1999.
-
GUYS!
hey.
We've had this discussion.
Do greatest hits/compilation albums count?
-
Still really depressed that I am apparently the only person to nominate Demon Days : (((((
Like ouch dude
Gorillaz - Demon Days
-
oh sorry I guess I kind of assumed you were a cat
-
I'm not sure if I'm insulted or not.
I always thought the stripe down my back would give away that I'm a skunk, really.
-
I thought more people would nominate Black Cock.
le sigh
-
That's great,
Thanks to this wonderful information.
