Title: Thomas Edison's Magical Journey on the Oregon Trail
Post by: Thomas Edison on 07 Sep 2009, 01:26
For those of you who do not know of the classic educational game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon_Trail_(game)), either read that link or I'll give a summary.

You get in a wagon, you get a bunch of people, and you make your way to Oregon from Missouri back in 1848.

Basically I want to play the game, but I want people's input on what the hell I'm to do. It's a game about a group of people, so I figured I might as well play it as a group.

First things first, what the shitter am I gonna' be?

And in case you want to know the differences:

fuck farmers and bankers, they have no use on the trail, clearly carpenter is the best option.

Man this game brings back memories.

I second the Carpenter choice.

Carpenter it is then.

Yeah the carpenter path seems like a good middle choice

I nominate Johnny C for your party so he can die of syphillis

With the addition of Paul and Jodie (Dollface's choice on Meebo), our grand wagon crew is looking for one more experienced lass to come along for a journey of fun and laughs and hopefully not-too-much-syphillis.

Okay, so the game version I was playing exploded. But look! I got a more distorted version to play! Wheeee

So after finding the version of the game (which only allows capital letters to be used), this is the final selection I have settled upon.

Go gangster and only buy 1 box of ammo.

That way you can't just slaughter an entire forest every week to eat. Make your buffaloes count.

PS - Tell Matt you know me, he'll give you a discount

June was a poor choice. What you do is you leave as early as possible, but with no food. Buy all the bullets you can, and spend the first month hunting right outside the first town. That way you end up leaving a bit later (like mid May) and you can get the max 2000 lbs of food.

But then all of the food will go bad immediately.

I agree with Linds on the purchases.

Also now I have cholera. Fuck.

EDIT: OMG I made it to Oregon! Fuck yes! So it turns out that Kris did actually die. Oli and I were the only ones to survive the journey, but I had cholera and he was in "fair health." Go us!

Oh, my mistake. I thought this was a thread about Organ Trail, the popular educational children's game about backwoods body-part harvesting. I guess it won't be so risky to stop and look around after all.

I should've realised when "Butcher from Kentucky" wasn't on the list of playable characters.

Dude, never ford the river. ALWAYS caulk the wagon and float it.

Though you should under no circumstances EVER ford the river, cocking and bloating the wagon is pretty dangerous as well.  I generally lose the baby caulking and floating.  Springing for the ferry generally results in success and doesn't cost much money, if I recall correctly.

If you are broke though, you should certainly do the penising.
