What happened to it?
I was on there yesterday afternoon, everything was running normal. Now it's just a fricken' blog searcher?
EDIT
it's BACK!!!
http://www.sordomusic.com/db/ (http://www.sordomusic.com/db/)
-
The subdirectory /db/ has been changed to /muerto/ and it looks like it searches MP3 blogs that post full album downloads now, instead of cataloguing uploads. So it probably got busted but still sort of works?
-
People have been taken to court for less than the old Sordo DB. I'm amazed it lasted in that format as long as it did, really.
-
:-(
Not a good way to start the day, guys.
-
LAAAMEEE
-
I seem to remember a message on the homepage saying that Sordo would be down while he completely overhauls it.
I'm holding out hope that this is just a temporary thing and the site will be back bigger and better than ever.
/optimism
-
the current system is actually way better at finding things than the old sordo DB was.
the difference is that you have to read the search results on google, which takes about 30 seconds.
sorry for the convenience.
-
the main reason i am so bummed about it is not because it's inconvenient to find something i'm already looking for (that's what google is for anyway) but because Sordo was how i found alot of random music that i never ever ever would have heard of if i hadn't downloaded it on whim, ya know?
but whatever, if it's just a maintenance thing then that's cool, and if not well, i guess we still have the MF thread and last.fm.
-
One good thing about the way it is now, lots of stuff that wasn't on Sordo is showing up through the search. I found a bunch of Heavy Winged albums that weren't in the original archives, so I'm happy about that.

Exactly. I would just go through the recent posts, and pick things if I liked the name, or just grab things randomly. And I've gotten SOO much good stuff that way.

Not sure if anyone has tried to visit Sordo lately, but if you do you'll see this message:
the old sordo is gone, but a similar, unaffiliated site has been set up:
www.supersuperdb.com
SUPERSUPER is very much in the same vein as Sordo was, although since it's new the archives obviously aren't as deep. I've already found a few cool things on there (The Antlers' 2007 release being one) so I'd say it's worth checking out.
-
sounds like a good compromise if supersuper actually lives up to sordo.
-
What do you think about Piratebay?

FREAKING AWESOME
-
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
I've been so screwed without it!
-
yes my life depends on a website to steal music from as well
-
also that is fucking stupid because sordo is basically a condensed google blog search. finding music isn't that hard dude.
-
for shits sake we have a not one but two threads of free music on this forum. im sure you could find lots of stuff with just those threads.
-
You could, but Sordo is better.
-
personally i am quite fond of ye olde piratebay. i can't remember the last time i've downloaded massive quantities of music from anywhere else.
-
Will Sordo still have the same stuff on it as before or will it be starting from scratch? Because if it starts from scratch it's going to be utterly useless for a good long while. Much like SuperSuper is.

Yeah, but at the same time you have to go through fewer completely random garbage blogs and dead links, get generally better quality music, and never get frustrated because the only working link left is on some strange Russian website that you can't navigate. I mean, if it's not on Sordo, you get it elsewhere, but it's much easier to check there first and just not have to deal with all of the other difficulties of using Google.
There's also the point of getting types of music that you would never get by going through the same few blogs by randomly going through the database and getting what looks interesting.

I got the impression from looking through it that he has the old archive database intact and plans to fix it back to the way it was before. I might be wrong though.
In other news this is pretty exciting.
-
oh god.
i am resisting the urge to have a huge nerdy argument over the internet about really trivial shit really hard right now.
like, fuck.
-
I swear I never knew about Sordo before this thread existed.
-
I have been getting music from the mediaf!re thread
on here but it is mostly stuff I haven't heard of anda few of what I like.
-
it's BACK!!!

-
Looks like the archive is still there
-
:-D
-
Awesome!
-
things were bad! but now they're good again! forever!
-
Bad news, looks like it is back down, as is SuperSuper... :/
-
nooooo
-
alive again!
-
guys sordo blows
sack up and use google blog search
-
do you have nothing better to do than bitch?
-
Sordo is pretty amazing, considering it's like the index of the google blog search.
Not combing through a bunch of crap just to find the music.
