Guys, I need money.
But instead I've redecided and I'm gonna make miniature homes.
Wooo had a lapse of judgement.
-
Oh my god this thread.
This thread may be a new low for the board.
And Jace.
Especially Jace.
-
Come on guys, don't be so hard on him. All he wants is a PM and he will give you a new home.
-
Yeah, I wouldn't mind a house in California or Hawaii to be honest.
-
Hey send me some money I'm in New Mexico.
I will not pay you back.
-
Ooh ooh I want a home!
All I can offer you in payment is some pie, though. Will that do?
-
I will accept pie. But it will be a 28mm home. I have redecided.
-

I don't know, I kind of wanted to do this (http://illcommunication.beastieboys.com/#/sabotage)

Here is a home for Kris.
It is magenta and turquoise because those are the colors that first come to mind when I think of Kris.
-
It appears to have been built on a steep slope. Are the foundations secure?
-
Well, it got a bit curved, but the crew went out and fixed it using future tools and magic.
(oh god, now I'm gonna build houses for a bunch of QC folk)
-
Can I have a burgundy and white house?
-
I would like a conservative little bungalow with an ocean view. Either ocean, doesn't matter.
-
Jace.
Make me a crunk home with hella bling!
-
I will get homes done when I can, and you can all have homes! only if I think you are cool enough (probably if you have ever been in meebo).
-
Make me a house boat
-
I want a taco stand with a white picket fence.
-
I would like a home. Preferably one that is bitchin', but rad is also acceptable.
-
I want a banana stand
-
I put all my cash into stocks and (mostly) bonds when I was younger rather than buy a house, which is why I'm not broke right now despite being a lazy, uneducated fuck. People were still talking up the benefits of owning real estate at the time I socked away most of my money, but what they didn't mention is the opportunity cost involved and simple human nature. People usually can't resist sinking more money into their homes than they should simply because it's "theirs" and because they talk themselves into believing they're going to get remodel money back somehow. But if you're diligent about investing and saving the money you would have blown on maintenance, you can mitigate the cost of renting while avoiding being as tied down to one particular investment. Plus, you know, the US housing market crashed, so who's laughing now, fuckers?
-
I am actually thinking about buying some land now that home owners are setting themselves on fire and screaming about how the sky won't stop falling. Seems like I should have some leverage there.
-
Is your house in a pretty part of Scotland, tommy?
-
All of Scotland is pretty.
However, I think that Tommy's house is near Aberdeen in which case it isn't that pretty. Unless you really love flat land and fields.
-
MY FAVOURITE SORT OF LAND
I will buy your house Tommy, if you come with it.
-
And granite.
-
Jace make me a house. It should probably have underwear and cussing on some bits.
Tommy, saying you bought the house when you were 22 is entirely unhelpful.
-
jace i want a haus
it needs a super grimey basement.
because that is punx
-
I Neglected to mention your payment my good sir. Do you accept chocolate muffins?
-
Tommy, do those hairy yaks come with the house?
I may buy it if that's the case.
-
I would be ridiculously ecstatic if people sent me baked goods. It may even get me to build these houses faster.
-
Oooooh, little homes! Can i maybe has a little treehouse by a creek? (no nearby waterfalls plx, they be noise!)
Also, what the hell is wrong with flat land?!
*insulted dutchie pose*
-
Jace, I want a house of secrets. It must be incredibly well protected (nobody getting in unless invited) and still somehow be appealing to children.
I hope you can draft something up for me.
-
wait, I thought you were 22 right now? haven't you had that house for a while.... surely longer than a year....

So, basically, the Neverland Ranch.
-
That was supposed to be Jace's punchline!
-
He had his chance.

I own my house, I bought it when I was 22.
I am going to be buying a house early next year. Renting is just getting rid of too much money. I've looked into mortgages and I'll probably be paying less per month than I am now, getting a portion of that back and the end of my three or four years living there. Plus, I don't really care about it that much, so I'll be able to learn how to repair house things without worrying about having to live there for such a large portion of my life.
-
Better be cautious about that mortgage. If the mortgage is literally less than renting (usually people mean that more figuratively, taking into account that paying a mortgage is building equity as opposed to simply spending the money) then there may be unpleasant fine print involved, like a variable rate mortgage that starts with low payments that balloon later. Of course, since the mortgage crisis those sorts of shenanigans are less commonly on offer, but still.
-
Damnit Tommy can't be only 22. There is no way I am as old/older than Tommy.

Well, the apartment I'm renting is fairly large, has maintenance included and is located in pretty much the best part of town. The houses would be around where the students live more, which is run-down but still relatively crime-free. Also, houses here are freakishly cheap (well, admittedly most places have "freakishly cheap" houses when you compare them to where I grew up). I probably wouldn't be building up much equity, but if I really wanted, I could probably get a roommate.

Lies.

Find yourself a fairly good quality foreclosure and you can get it for dirt cheap compared to other new homes. A couple examples I have, in one neighborhood, the houses go for about 170k, 3 bed, 2 bath. The foreclosures are between 80-100k. There are condos, 2 bed, 1 bath, going for 20k. There are condos that are selling for less than some cars.
-
That's nice, because homes around here are already under $100k in a number of reasonable areas.

Jace if you can build me a home with a room that has an anti-grav field in it then yeah, otherwise I'm waiting til they have those before I'm going to bother.
I refuse to own a home that obeys the laws of physics.
-
It's the only house worth having.
I want a house that can fly and clean itself.
-
Jace you will build me a house shaped like a dick.
Because I enjoy dicks, silly.
Damnit Tommy can't be only 22. There is no way I am as old/older than Tommy.
There is no way I am as old as/older than Slick
-
There is no way I am older than you.
-
Don't be silly Joe Hocking you are older than everyone.
Except maybe est.
-
Jace build me a goddamn house.
And make it super awesome.
-
Tommy, have you considered the possibility that you maybe have a problem? Possibly capybaraphilia?
