Killington is wayyy better than Stowe.
Killington's trail count: 190. Stowe's : 115.
Longest run in Killington: 6.2 miles. Stowe: 4.2
Trail area in Killington: over 1200 acres. Stowe: less than 500 acres.
Lifts in Killington: 30. Lifts in Stowe: 14.
Killington peak elevation: 4235ft. Stowe: 3720ft.

....and Vail is better than both.
This is where they want to go, let it go. They may not be that experienced as skiers, after all. They may also be going for the views and accomodations, not so much the skiing.
Remember, not everyone's hardcore, and Stowe seems to be doing OK for business - must be a good place!

both overpriced, i stick to new hampshire because its usually way cheaper
