I say them regularly and I am proud! Too long have I been oppressed! You hipster snobs can't stop me from speaking AMERICAN!
-
right on dude!
-
just a heads up, people don't like it when you talk about the comic in here. there's another forum for that you know

It was an easy mistake bro.

I say bru.

I say irn bru.

Hey bro, I fixed yr post.
-
I don't know why or how it works, but it does.
By god that is one of the best anti-hangover drinks ever.
Scotsmen know how to handle alcohol.
-
I think I've drank more Irn Bru than any alcohol since I flew into Scotland.
This thread is now about Irn Bru. It is an amazing drink.

-
Irn Bru is so good it was banned in the USA.
-
I found it in a Celtic shop in North Carolina. You can also order it by the 12-pack from their importer. Of course, I'm pretty sure both of those were the kind that had their orange dye replaced with something less carcinogenic.
-
I was going to say that North/South Carolina is a good place to get it, because there are tons of former Scotts there...bro. Sorry guys, I'm sticking with "dude."
-

Who wants to fall in love with a bro
What kind of bro
With any common sense at all
Would call any of his friends a "dude"
It's a thing that's really rude

dude this wins the thread!
-
This thread's pretty much run its course, but I can't lock it until you've all helped me determine what the proper female form of "bro" is. We all know that the female form of "dude" is "dudette", and logic would suggest that the female form of "bro" would be "sis" or "broette", but "sis" doesn't convey that essential bro-ness, while "broette" is just awkward to say.
I'm leaning towards either "brosephine" (female of the relatively well-established "broseph") or "ladybro".
Thoughts?
-
I do like ladybro.
-
It does roll off the tongue rather well, like a fine string of curse-words.
-
I always assumed it was just "Bra" or "Brah"
-
Bro Ho
The female equivalent of a bro. Although native to the west coast, bro hoes can be found at almost any state school campus in the greater United States.
bro ho criteria:
-peroxide damaged hair
-orange skin
-lower back tattoo (often depicting a butterfly or hibiscus flowers)
-thinks UGGs go with everything
-wears skater and surf apparel but participates in neither activity
-wears velour track suits anywhere and anytime, including movie/dinner dates and church
-has a beer gut and wears jeans that are two sizes too small (see: muffin top).
-thinks spring break in Cancun qualifies 'well-traveled'
-has a naval piercing or naval piercing scar
-dates a guy who drives a lifted truck/SUV OR drives her own lifted truck/SUV
-butt crack and thong are always visible
+ 100 bro ho points if she listens to Linkin Park, Hoobastank, or any rap-rock fusion.
+ 1,000 bro ho points if she considers Britney Spears or Jenna Jameson a personal inspiration.
"Check out that bro ho in the Von Dutch hat -- her thong is hella cutting her lower back tattoo."

yes.

A "brody" is perfect. It is a bro lady. So great.
-
(http://readjack.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/50-bodie.jpg)
would like to have a word with you.
-
Let me guess, that word is "bro", right?
-
Female equivelant of bro is Biddie, bitty, biddy, bittie-snack, biddy-slice, freshman bittie, or any variation thereof.
But it's definitively bittie in some form.
Lock thread.
-
Brah > Bro.
-
-
overheard at ACL
(bro brings bro a heiney minikeg can)
"brewski for my broksi brah?"
"cha brah!"
No matter how many times I read it, my mental image of this exchange always turns into the two dudes making out.
-
Srsly cannot believe people speak like this unironically.
-
Brodude
Brude

-
Is it uncool to use the term "dude?" I do that all the time without even thinking about it.
-
Yeah I think we can all agree "dude" is not really a harmful thing unless used with "bro"
-
A long time ago I once said "word up." That was possibly the most shameful moment of my entire life.
-
i heard that
-
Are you trying to avoid saying "back in college," Joe?
-
Irn-Bru sold in Canada contains no caffeine, as until recently only dark coloured drinks were permitted to contain caffeine
?????????
-
Eh? Orange coffee?
-
I dunno about anyone else, but the people I spend meatlife time around (and myself) say dude to mean any person at all.
My favourite usage of this is in the office when we're in big serious art review meetings the art manager wishes an artist to add some people to a piece of art: "Stick some dudes in it."
(Art art art)

Art dudes?

Boo, dude.
-
I've also heard duder and dudeski used.
-
I'm not a fan of adding "ski" to the end of words, except maybe "jet" or "water."
-
Or "TommyD"
-
Nah, that guy sucks.
-
The only time I ever enjoyed using "bro" was when I called a friend of mine Charles Brodelaire because he was hung over beyond all recognition after making the mistake of going to a frat party. (Even in graduate school frats are annoying...)
-
Bro Ho
-has a naval piercing or naval piercing scar
I thought people got tattoos in the Navy, not piercings. Weird.

So close, just a few episodes later was the comic you should have linked for this thread:

-
Or this one. (http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=287)

Oh man. I would totally read/watch that if it were a regular thing. Unironically.
-
dudeism (http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2009/aug/12/volkswagen-dudeism-the-big-lebowski)?
-
Srsly cannot believe people speak like this unironically.
Thing is, from past experience, once you start using a turn of phrase ironically, it's not too long before it just becomes part of your vocabulary and everyone kinda forgets it was originally an ironic thing. This happened for like a year with friends of mine and "l337speak" - we'd dot our speech with it as a joke and then suddenly it become automatic. Horrible.
-
I say dude to mean girls and guys. I say bro for dudes and girly girl for girls...
"sup dude?"
"Sure Bro."
"Hey girly girl."
and sometimes I just say girly and drop the girl.
"Whats up girly?"
-
I once heard someone refer to someone else as a "girly friend." When we questioned her about that expression, she explained "well she isn't your girlfriend, but she is your friend and is a girl."
-

I am imagining you in a dimly lit room, a single light bulb hanging in the middle. I think you're the bad cop, and there is this poor girl ready to burst into tears at a crummy looking table as you're yelling at her.
-
haha the idea of her crying because of something I said is pretty funny. This is the person who made sex toys out of antlers; that is not the crying sort.
-
Unless she messes up the sex toys.

Is that a suggestion or a question?
-
I like the term gal pal.
-
how about "friend"
-
"friend-o"
-
how about "friend"
Nobody here has any idea what that word means. Take your Satan-speak elsewhere, heathen!
-
we arnt canadian guy. friend, buddy...
-
We'll invade the shit out of you unless you start talkin' Amurrican-like.
-
Thanks entirely to this thread, I was walking down the street thinking about which classical composers had names which would lend themselves to being broified. Brozart, Brohms, Rachbrominov, Tchabrovsky...
-
Brohann Sebrostian Broch
-
Bropin
-
Brode Debrossy.
Jean-Broptiste Brolly
George Brozet
-
Brovel
Brorlioz
Also conductors?
Herbrot von Karajan
-
Igor Brovinsky?
I still like Tchabrosky. It sounds so horribly horribly real.

Yes I am speaking about Der Brosenkavalier.

Die Zauberbröte

Anbronin Dvorak's Brosalka. On my recording the nymph is sung by Bronee Fleming.
