OH MY GOOOOOOOD
-
At first I thought you were talking about his new Unreleased, Vol. 1 that I posted in the MF thread a few pages back.
But this is much better news.
-
Wasn't that a Helios album? Still excellent, but yeah. Also, first album with vocals and percussion? INTERESTING. TELL ME MORE MATTHEW. WHISPER IT INTO MY EARS.
-
oh whoops. God I mix them up all the fucking time.
Now I'm even more excited.
-
vocals? percussion?
how about that
-
Holy fuck SO excited!! Yay :-) Made my week, and I was having a pretty great week before this.
-

NEW SONG.
-
That song is pretty great. I like how the vocals kind of nestle into the rest of the song. They are distinct but they don't obscure the atmosphere and the other textures. Very tasteful. Salut, Matthew Cooper!
-
Me too. I like how they aren't just the stereotypical breathy ethereal shoegaze vox, but they still mesh with the atmosphere perfectly. The very slight hint of percussion is great too, just provides a little propulsion.
Reminds me a little bit of "Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today is OK" era múm, which is fucking fabulous.

sold!
lookin forward to this.

okay i got done listening to this a few minutes go. it ruled a lot,
im definitely trying to cop this on vinyl. im just a little bummed the gregor samsa feel is really only in that first track, because matt cooper was really able to pull that off. though the ol' eluvium formula is always good, and really isn't changed much with vocals and percussion. it just adds a little form to the songs, which i think really only helps the dude.
edit: apparently this is only getting put out on cd. that is pretty weak trl.

im definitely trying to cop this on vinyl...
That was pretty much my reaction.
EDIT: oh god, I am loving the stereo effect in the last track.
-
I think this is going to take me a`few listens to get into. Not loving the vocals all that much right now, I'd almost prefer to listen to all the tracks just as instrumentals. Still, I feel like it's the kinda thing that might really grow on me.

I said it on my blog (http://thisistheuniverse.blogspot.com/2010/01/eluvium-similes-2010.html) (shameless plug) but I'll paraphrase: the vocals jarred me a bit at first but a couple songs in I was totally on board with it and now I can barely imagine it any other way.
