Post by: lprkn on 07 Dec 2009, 20:42
Based upon the trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WclyqvXkE40&feature=player_embedded) for Iep, a Dutch movie about a girl with wings for arms.

I shall await your D'aaaaawwwwwws.

I always thought that if mutants were real (The X-Men kind) I would be totally tolerant and for their rights.

Not so sure now.

She was creepy looking even before it registered in my head she had wings for arms.

This is why you shouldn't fuck birds.  Don't fuck birds.

It looks interesting enough but cute was not even close to the first thing that entered my mind. More unsettling than anything else. Is it meant to be a kids film or for someone else?

It's definitely meant to be a happy indie type movie.

Short synopsis of the trailer. Old couple finds here and wife decides to keep her, they decide that she can't be shown to anyone else because it's so weird. She tries to fly away but lands in some girls bed who becomes her friend. Then it's a quest to find her back. But I'm sure you could have gathered this if you didn't speak Dutch.

It's a bit weird.

You people are creeped out ridiculously easily. It looks too sugary for my tastes so I doubt I'll bother seeing it, but unsettling?

I'm all for the premise of the film but it's the girl who's unsettling to me.  She looks weird in an off-putting way.  I don't think I really have any interest in this film anyway so even if it gets subbed, I'll probably pass.

And tries to teach her how to incubate eggs or some shit. What the fuck?

She's all like "I wish I was a bird" and then sits on an egg. It doesn't make much sense.

I wouldn't mind seeing this.

The girl looks like someone I know who has some sort of birth defect (developmental disorder or something?) and looked like a Gelfling when she was a kid. So Iep looks creepy because she looks like someone I know. I guess the wings for arms is also a bit creepy also.

Least adorable looking film ever.  I'm upset by this.

I feel there are probably better candidates for the title of 'least adorable film' than this.

I was reminded of Williams Syndrome kids.

Liz, when I read your link I first though was that it was an elaborate hoax, but apparently not.

OMG SO TINY

I dunno what y'all are talking about, she's pretty adorable. The movie's tone seems cloying, though.

"Least Adorable Film that's TRYING to be adorable." Is probably what I meant.

I'm in no way easily unsettled, but when you are expecting something cute & it really isn't, it seems even less so.

Yes, but never because of their appearance. It's the way they act that doesn't seem 100% human...

OK it sucks that the girl has a genetic thing going on there but it doesn't change the fact that she is kind of creepy and not cute especially with wing-arms

I think the little girl and the movie look pretty cute. I'd watch it.
