Tiberian Dawn and the original Red Alert is also available.

It can be downloaded from:

I just wish they had set up a torrent for it.

It's a really great game, too! Shame it got overshadowed by Starcraft. The map generator was great fun.

Should I?

Well, if you want to play the games that originally popularised the RTS genre...yes.

I started with Command and Conquer 3 and went backward because I liked the gameplay.

More accurate to say it was the first RTS with competitive multi-player. Warcraft was actually a pretty big seller, which is why WCII was able to compete on pretty even terms with C&C despite coming out a tiny bit later.

Holy crap, Tiberian Sun... My dad's old company did motion capture for the cut scenes, so as thanks I got a copy of the boxed Deluxe Edition a few weeks before it was released. It was pretty cool, had a soundtrack (that I never appreciated), a book of concept art, and a neat little foot soldier pewter figurine that sat on top of my old monitor. That stuff's probably buried in a drawer somewhere back home, now I wanna go dig it out and finish the campaigns that used to kick my ass...
