So hey who wants to play diplomacy again? phpdiplomacy.net appears to have turned into webdiplomacy.net and looks a little snazzier, so who is up for a game? Game is at http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=22520 and the password is 'snugglefist'.
If you are unfamiliar with the game, they have a good explanation of everything on the site. It gets compared to risk a lot because of the war and territories things, but it is different because you never get these ridiculous gargantuan armies rolling over entire continents in one turn, and more importantly, you explicitly assist other players, which is crucial to victory. It is a good time and hopefully we have enough people here who play who are interested.

Yeah whatever UK.
The new website is pretty slick. The home page is a nice, well designed thing which I muchly appreciate.
P.S. there is an anonymous five-minute-turn gunboat (no chat) game here (http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=22517) that I would like to see one more player in so it can go ahead, if anyone else has an hour free on a Thursday afternoon. If you do join, don't tell me who you are as that is cheating in gunboat. I've never done a fast game or a gunboat game but I think it'd be fun.
-
Come on, you fucks, join in on the game.
-
done and done. It's been a while since I played though so bare with me.
-
Shit, too late.

QC FORUMS IST KRIEG
-
I will try to play this game and I will do quite badly.
edit.
Oh wait so I guess I can't join the game now. Too bad.
-
If people are interested in another game, that is totally cool, because we can make as many games as we want!
More information: game turns last 24 hours or so, and you've got a private chat-box with each other player.
You guys can start a new game and hope six more people will join, or you can just wait for seven people to say 'I'm interested in a new game'. It is poor form to be in two games with the same people at the same time, so if you guys need an extra player, one of the people in the first game can join in.

this sounds intriguing and like a bit of a time such, which is always fun. ill probably be terrible at this but hey im up for a game.
-
i just registered but have no idea what im doing.
**edit** if someone wants to start a new game ill join in with them.
-
Khar and Jace have about an hour and a half to make their move.
-
Well, it's taken less and less time each year for people to time out on Diplomacy moves, I guess it only makes sense that they timed out after the first move this time.
-
What the fuck? I made my move.
-
Risk is betterrrrrr
-
Q: Do you have to click "ready" for your moves to take effect?
A: Yes.
-
FFFFFFUUUUUU I was trying to make my moves last night but the webpage wouldn't load consistently for an hour.
-
No you don't actually, as long as you saved your moves it should take them.
The ready just means that you're ready for the turn to end and that you're not expecting any changes to you your plans. By clicking save it means that you'll wait till the turn is over (1 day) but your moves will still be taken. This is interesting if you're waiting for a message from someone to confirm or change your plans.
-
Risk is betterrrrrr
Disagree! Risk is fun, but it is also kind of stupid, what when you get escalating risk-card turns where it's a matter of if you can hold off long enough to cash in your set or not. Diplomacy is much more fun and much much more strategic.
P.S. Does anyone want to play a live game? I have played a couple of those where the turns are five minutes for non-talking diplomacy, ten minutes for traditional, talking diplomacy. It is basically like playing the game with people except you are alone at home on a saturday afternoon.
-
i cant seem to get into a game -.-
-
k just got into a game and formed my 1st alliance. Turkey & Russia FTW
-
Why can't I make orders for this turn?
-
It's the build phase.

I played a five minute no-messages game last night, it got ridiculous towards the end. Perhaps it was because it stretched into the wee hours of the morning, but by the time I had about 15 units it was absolute chaos trying to plan and move all of them in a 5 minute span.
-
so i gave up on Diplomacy. Just didnt like the layout and really didn't understand it that well. One positive thing is that in playing this game i discovered Landgrab and i freakin love that game. It plays just like Risk but with a bunch of different maps.
-
I completely forgot to play :/
-
I completely forgot to play :/
This is what is happening to me. I was totally able to play when we started, but now I keep forgetting by the time I get home from work and then do some work around home.
-
ya figured same would happen to me so i just play real time games.
-
This was really fun last time it came around on the forums and I would love to get in on a game. But I have finals week coming up and I do not need to be spending my time planning my moves like I did last time. So if we are still doing this in 2 weeks then I am totally in.

Oh wow, that 17 countries thing looks intense. Slick suggested this one: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=24261
PS: I joined it.
