Title: A questionable need for apologies for the comic schedule.
Post by: Delusion on 08 Mar 2010, 22:10
While I admire Jeph's ability to put his nose to the grindstone and be self-motivating and take his work seriously, I'm always very puzzled when I see him apologize for not keeping his schedule.

Jeph, we're here because we want more.  You don't owe us anything.  That you do it is enough.

Please for the love of god stop apologizing when you need to take a day off.  Those of us with 9-5 jobs get personal days, too, even those of us in the vacation-time-poor US.

Keep up the good work!

I completely and whole-heartedly agree.

Or, as they say on the internet:

This.

To be honest, the fact that Jeph apologizes is part of why I enjoy his work and am more willing to accept delays. Part of why I stopped reading megatokyo (aside from horrid plot derailment and increased personal ambivalance) was the fact that about 80% of the site was incomplete with the note "I'll get to this when I feel like it." And when the comic is his big source of income...yeah.

Jeph apologizing for a late update means that he does care about his readers which I find commendable.

Keeping to a stated schedule is important.  And keeping regular updates is important.

But Jeph does both of those, so he really shouldn't need to worry about missing one comic.  It's not even an unannounced missing comic.

So don't worry, Jeph, we all love you and you're doing great.

Jeph is an hour late, I don't mind.

Jeph is a few hours late, I still don't mind.

I don't mind because I know he's working at it and he's unhappy with what he's already produced, and because I know he really, really wants to get it out there on time.  He treats this as a job.

That megatokyo guy, I stopped reading him years ago because he doesn't treat it like a job.  He doesn't give a damn.

Jeph apologizes and he *means it*... and that's why he shouldn't have to.

Irony, bitches.

It's ironic because if he didn't apologize, he would owe an apology.  Because he apologizes, he doesn't owe an apology.  That's situational irony.

Dear friend, some people here would be thankful for correct spelling and not too many exclamation marks. You can do bad grammar on 4chan, but here we try not to write like that (except irony, of course).
