Title: I think Gram Parsons has ruined Ryan Adams for me
Post by: Thrillho on 09 Mar 2010, 06:57
I mean I know Ryan Adams liked homages, but seriously, he sounds just like the guy, vocally, and musically half the time. Wow.

There aren't many artists who really sound exactly like their influences like this. Only other ones I can think of are an unsigned Dream Theater ripoff I heard and Airbourne, who sound exactly like AC/DC.

...NO SHIT

I said vocally he sounds just like him but musically only half the time. Love Is Hell sounds nothing like Parsons' work, but the vocals still bear a more than passing resemblance.

Ryan Adams is literally the worst singer-songwriter I can think of off the top of my head.

Avoid.

Everyone should read Twenty Thousand Roads (http://www.amazon.com/Twenty-Thousand-Roads-Parsons-American/dp/0345503368/ref=pd_sim_b_2). Some incredible stories in there.

The singer from Brand New has reinvented himself as a singer songwriter.

I can't remember what he's called but he does a lot of NMH covers.

Can't be as bad because he will never have so called '""indie cred""' or indeed '""critical acclaim""'.
