Also I guess there is this trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-2TmRDLddI), but that is far from the important part of this thread.
-
Bowie?
-
I seem unable to form a definite opinion on Olivia Wilde. Sometimes I think she's the prettiest woman ever and sometimes ... meh. I don't know where that phenomenon originates.
But shee's nice on House.
And I'll see Tron of course.
-
Bowie?
Yeah it looked like him around 1:43
Also, Daft Punk!

I have no idea who that is, but she looks good in futuristic plastic clothes, so good for her!
I'm pretty stoked about the new Tron movie. I mean, there's a good chance it will suck but that sure as shit won't stop me from seeing it.
-
Yeah I'm fully expecting it to suck but hopefully it won't be intolerable
-
I keep reading this thread title as "Oscar Wilde Has Rubber Pants" and it doesn't even look strange to me.
I should probably see the original Tron before I go see this?

You didn't need to fix it. It wasn't broken.
-
I just edited out all the stuff that you didn't need to say.
-
Nah, the post was as I intended it to be. Thank you for your concern, though, but it was unnecessary. I really can't make up my mind about her looks.
-
I'd comment on her looks but she has turned into a bandwidth exceeded image.

BAM

EDIT: actually in doing this I discovered a neat little trick. If you copy the pic's address and chuck it in yr address bar and view it that way, not only are you able to see the pic instead of the bandwidth maxed graphic, but it also puts the image in yr cache, so you'll see it back in the forum posts as well. Tricky!

You seem to have an issue with people 'fixing' your posts. You know it's generally not a serious thing, right? Most people understand that you meant what you did in the original post, they just change it to reflect their opinion. It's not like they are changing your actual post, it's still up her for people to see.
-
Also yeah, Tron. Woo. That trailer just made me confused; obviously I need to watch Tron first to get it. Also I didn't realise it who Olivia Wilde was until someone mentioned House in here. Now I will promptly forget her name and keep referring to her by her character's name.

so has your internet rainbow unicorn robot avatar thing

Tricky!
Exrtreme to see a pic, to see a pic with exceeded bandwidth.
Doesn't really fit.
-
'fixing' your posts.
A long time ago I forgot that "fyp" was "fixed your post" and since then have been reading it as "for your perusal," like you've made an edit and you want feedback. As a pure acronym I've been understanding it more or less the right way, but with a slightly different, less forceful meaning. I think I came to understand it by assuming I already knew what it meant.
-
FUCK YOUR POST
-
i think spluff's version is more or less how i think of it.
fyp = "your shit is stupid, this is what it should really say if you weren't stupid"
of course, half the time it means "i think i'm funny and i thought i'd share some proof that i'm not"

"fuck yeah penguins"
-
Originally I thought it was "Fine Young Pannibals" and I was all "what the fuck is a Pannibal" and it was really infuriating. You can imagine my relief when I found out the actual meaning.

I wonder if there is a "fuck yeah penguins" tumblr.
-
I like to think of it as "fed yonder panther"
or "fucked your parents"
-
I like that Olivia Wilde stole one of Ladytron's haircuts for this film.
-
It's OK, there are plenty to spare

Oooooooh score one point for the old man.
-
I concede, because flappers are awesome.
-
This movie might be of interest.
I have yet to see a recent 3D movie in theaters.

Rubber Pants returns (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFEbY9Q8dBE)

Nah, the post was as I intended it to be.

So, I saw Tron Legacy the other day and I enjoyed myself a fair bit even if it was really only because Jeff Bridges has officially decided to play every character as a mishmash of himself and The Dude.
-
I was super blown when I watched this movie but I liked it so much. It was just so pretty! Amazing visuals, good fight scenes, attractive people, epic soundtrack, all around awesomeness. Yes I did not really understand the plot and its previous context but it wasn't THAT hard to follow.
Anyway what a pretty movie. I wonder what it is like normally. Probably kind of boring.
-
I enjoyed the hell out of the movie, both as a fan of Tron and a fan of shiny things. I had friends who were being pricks about the price of the movie (we saw the midnight showing, 3D and IMAX. Nobody forced them to come to that showing, nor go balls out on the bells and whistles, but they were still being big whiners) which kind of diminished my enjoyment of the night, but I was seriously enjoying most moments of the movie. The story wasn't phenomenal but hey, neither was the original film's. I didn't come into the movie expecting some amazing work of sci-fi literature, just a pretty cool movie about dudes in computerworld.
Also, CGI Jeff Bridges straddled the line between impressive and creepy as FUCK.
-
This movie was rad as fuck.
-
Loved the soundtrack, loved the aerial dogfights & light cycle races, loved the fuck out of Olivia Wilde.
Didn't love the younger Jeff Bridges. I know they tried their best, but just looking at his mouth while he talked was a constant distraction.
And while it was great in IMAX 3D, the one film that I enjoyed more visually was Avatar.
-

We were looking at tv's at Best Buy and they had some "Making of Tron" type special on, so FIFTY TELEVISIONS had a close up of "young" Jeff Bridges, and the mouth thing was seriously creeping me out. Have we really not come any farther than that as far as making a CGI mouth look normal?
-
I think I was too stoned to notice that...
-
I thought the movie was great. I don't think Olivia Wilde or Beau Garrett are normally attractive, but they looked really good in Tron.
-
I think the one really distracting thing about the movie for me aside from Clu/Young Dude was the fact that I had just seen like 12 episodes of House in the couple days before the movie and could just keep thinking that THIS was where 13 vanished to without a trace.
-
Just saw this today in iMax 3D. Gave me exactly what I wanted. And this was the first time I'd actually seen 3D outside of a quick demonstration.
Nothing that jumped out at me as a distraction, and I can nitpick with the best of them. Well, I did keep wondering if there was some kind of symbolism with Quorra's lopsided bangs.
-
I also saw Tron in 3D. 3D movies still give me a massive headache when I watch them (my brain just can't reconcile the illusion of 3D on a 2D screen), but the headache was worth it. Especially since they had the sound cranked so high the the walls of the theater were vibrating. The walls were effing vibrating!
-
I actually found the 3d in this film to be kind of unnecessary.
Strangely enough the film that i thought best utilised 3d was the latest Resident Evil...
:psyduck:
-
I'm not sure if it was the movie or the fact that I've never found 3D glasses to work quite properly over my regular glasses, but it took me the first 15 minutes or so of the film to get used to the 3D, and it was still kind of difficult to track objects in the more complex shots. The movie well made up for it though with pure atmosphere, I found myself whispering "yesssssssssss" under my breath at certain shots.
-
Well, I did keep wondering if there was some kind of symbolism with Quorra's lopsided bangs.
The word you're looking for is asymetric. :-D I imagine it's supposed to make her look edgy and futuristic, though Word Of Disney is that the character is inspired by Joan Of Arc... The whole style is one of those that looks simple, but requires very expert cutting, and it works really well with the angles in OW's face, especially in all those "over the shoulder" promotional pics of Quorra that have been flooding the internet. Shame it's a wig, and she's sticking with the standard-issue starlet hair.
