Mari-bear isn't an archaeologist. Unless I missed something? Professional nerd and webdesigner covers it though.
-

Marigold is the complement of an archaeologist. She's someone who creates middens that can be excavated centuries later.
-
There is one (many) key difference(s) between Marigold and Liara - Liara is a badass (see Mass Effect 2 for additional evidence). Marigold... isn't.

I think you mean benefactor. But well said, nonetheless. And I can see it now: "Apparently, given the boxed coprolites we found, our ancestors enjoyed snacking on rat droppings, which, in their tongue, was called 'pocky.'"

Isn't the waist at belly button level?

Waist is higher and thinner. Hips are lower and larger. If you think of a rounded hourglass, the middle of the hourglass is the waist; while the largest part of the bubble beneath it are the hips.

Someone should tell the folks who make jeans...

Wearing trousers/jeans/pants/whatever around the hips is a relatively new concept. Calling it a waist size is just convenient anyway.
-
That's two of my points;
What they call it and what it is are not the same, and
nor everyone likes their jeans around their hips. But you rarely have that option anymore, especially if you're female!
