So there was a bonus round on webcomics, the first two were Ctrl Alt Del and PHD Comics, but then Jeremy Paxman quoted Jeph and what QC was about before asking what QC stood for. Reading webcomics when you're supposed to be working on your thesis pays off!
I can't find a clip on the internet yet as it only aired about an hour ago, but if you're in the UK you can probably get it on the BBC iplayer website.
On a side note, I got all of the questions for this bonus round correct.
-
I came on here just to say that.
Can't say I know PHD or CAD but it was good to hear QC mentioned.
-
WAIT WHAT why was I not watching University Challenge at this point? *goes to iPlayer*
-
In all honesty, that round was far too easy. Intellectual/nerdy graduate students are a pretty major demographic for webcomics like those, especially PhDComics.
-
is university challenge show just in British??

It's a British programme, if that's what you mean. I don't know if it's done in Europe, but I don't think they have it in the US; the students wouldn't be cultured enough to answer the music, literature and art questions :P
For those interested, here's a video of the previous episode (before the one that people are talking about in this thread):

It would seem that this guy uploads all the episodes to YouTube, so I daresay today's will be on soon.
If you're in the UK (or have access to a UK proxy that isn't blocked by BBC), the actual programme is here:

10:53 onwards.
For the rest, the transcript is:
"Jeph Jacques says that QC, his webcomic, is obstensibly about romance, indie rock, little robots and the problems people have. But what do the letters QC stand for?"
EDIT - http://www.twitvid.com/F2E1D as tweeted by Jeph himself
The students get it right, of course, along with the question about Ctrl Alt Delete (which is made easier by the fact that Paxman says at the start that it's named after a computer command. But they don't know what the PhD in PhD Comics stands for.

Wait - graduate students who don't know what Ph.D. stands for?
BS, MS and PhD have always stood for;
Bull Shit,
More Shit, and
Piled Higher and Deeper!
Don't tell me someone guessed "Doctor of phlosophy" or some such nonsense...
-
Got it in one. And Paxman, legend that he is, practically sneers at them for such a poor guess.

Hello to another Robert A. Heinlein fan :)
-
Someone has posted a short clip showing just the webcomic bonus questions (http://www.twitvid.com/F2E1D).

Here is a slightly better quality version of it (not a recording of a TV). (http://www.twitvid.com/G52KI) The link is from PHD's main page, and I must admit, the QC reference made me begin giggling in an unbecoming fashion.
