I could have sworn there was a thread where forumers posted their music, but the only one I could find was something way back in 2007 and I'm afraid of necromancy.
ANYWAYS
I was messing around with my guitar tuning and found an interesting tuning, which goes something like EACGAC (i.e. tune down 1st 2nd and 4th string a ton). This allowed me to play something similar to slack-key guitar, and I found that just playing open notes or holding down all the strings on one fret made for a neat tune.
The result of messing around is linked below.

Most of the "song" I'm just switching from open to 7th fret to 12th fret to 7th to open. Incidentally the riff can be played with all harmonics, which I also made a short sound clip of.

I'm wondering what songs you all have found that mess around with tunings in a neat way. Sonic Youth I know does a lot of this stuff, but I'm rather in the dark as to how far alternate tunings can go.

EACGAC (i.e. tune down 1st 2nd and 4th string a ton)
I lol'd.
-
I used B F# B F# A C# for a previous metal band I played in. Naturally, we sucked, but the tuning was pretty neat! Maybe I ought to to find an acoustic and mess around with it again.
Anyways, these days i just play in G#, ie. 7-string tuned down 3 semi-tones.

CGCGCE

I always liked double Drop-C, which is something like CGCFAC.
-
EEEEEE = coolest. tuning. ever.
-
C F C F C F
is a fave, but this is my current tuning:
D A D F# B E
-
DACGAE (which entails detuning the first, third and fifth strings a step down) was my standard go-to alt tuning for a while. Nowadays though I'm pretty much in standard. If I had another good guitar I'd keep one for my alternate tuning needs.

I've had my acoustic tuned down a whole step (DGCFAD) for a few months now, and I don't anticipate going back. It sounds a lot richer.
-
FADGBE is my personal favourite.
I also use EEEEBE (wherein you always tune down).
In before FAGFAG tuning.
-
Speaking of, I think Chris told me to try GAEFAG once, which just sounds horrible because of the half-step between E and F.
-
I'm gonna try it just because I really like half-steps done right
-
My friend doesn't like his father, so he's going to be trying out DADFAG and FAGDAD this week.
I tried GAEGAE once at Darryl's suggestion, and it actually yielded some cool results. I need to tune my Kay to that and maybe post what I come up with.
