Title: I Was A 16 Year-Old Girl's Session Musician

Emmelia, who's from a town of about 500 people in rural Saskatchewan, contacted Urban Planning with a four-song demo and we brought her into town and played the record over the course of two days. It was super ramshackle but we basically tried to add as much to this girl's songs as possible. The result sounds like a less precious Arcade Fire, maybe?

I'm on drums on every track except "See," in which I literally play the sink. I also did a handful of guitar overdubs (basically the gnarliest sounding guitar) and I think I did the keyboard overdub on the last track? But this ain't about me, it's about Emmelia's awesome pop songs.

Oh, and the rest of the backing band was comprised of my other band, Architects & Builders (http://architectsandbuilders.bandcamp.com/).

Sick shit. Now I don't feel as special.

How to remedy this: befriend the girl!

What I was just giving some helpful hints as to how I think the music could be marketed. You can make a lot of money from putting songs in adverts, jeez.

Reverrrbbbbbbbbbbb!  Holy shit that's a lot of mud.

No complaints about the drumming, but I universally hate what the engineer did with the mix.  What could have been some OK springsteen-esque riffs are just buried, one on top of another with no definition between the instruments.

Also, her voice has too much presence in the mix.

E: Okay so yeah this came across an more of an assholish thing than I intended. v :| v
