I'm more likely to watch a stand-up show than a band, and at least a third of my DVDs are stand-up, so I was wondering who people's favourite comedians were. Here's my top 3 anyway
Stewart lee - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhtkRW6AQG0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhtkRW6AQG0)
Mitch Hedberg - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2491LucLa1g (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2491LucLa1g)
Ross Noble - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UyHa1mkB6Q (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UyHa1mkB6Q)
George Carlin - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgps85scy1g
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgps85scy1g)
-
My favorite stand-up comedians are the comedians I haven't heard before.
-
Louis CK
-
Stephen Wright.
He bought powdered water but had to return it because he didn't know what to add.
-
Mitch has to be my favorite, but sense you already mentioned him...
Bill Bailey. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMNX11y0dVo)
Donald Glover. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLfViOw-3uo&feature=related)
-
Louis C.K.
Bill Hicks
-
Patton Oswalt!
-
Mitch Hedberg and Louis C.K. are two favorites but they're already metioned so let's add....um.....
ooh! Joe Rogan. Really surprised me how good he was the first time I saw his stand up. I had no idea.
-
Eddie Izzard.
-
I'm not a big stand-up comedy guy but Bobcat Goldthwait's audacious insanity makes me chuckle, in small doses
-
Jeans I know of Simon Munnery I got his DVD from gofasterstripe
I'd heard of attention scum but I assumed I'd missed it forever, and there is is on youtube! cheers for the link :)
-
Carlin & Hedberg (May they rest in peace) and Eddie Izzard, gotta be my top 3 favs.
Looks like I have some catching up to do on the stand-up front, good stuff. I guess its time for another white russian night with the boyfriend, with stand up and chocklates. :-P Good times!
-
Tim Minchin, but really only because he does awesome things with pianos and meaningful discussion at the same time (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2De680f8r-c).
-
Ed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSx_42ivLPk) Byrne (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRY85L2wUgE&feature=related)
A more recent discovery of mine, Steve (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0lVbMOMTi0) Hughes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAGJpISVERg&feature=related)
Steven K. Amos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkHZ_5KUIfI)
-
Stephen K. Amos makes me laugh when I probably shouldn't be
But whenever he says "sheet staaage of groowing an arfroo" I can help it.
-
Mitch Hedberg (RIP) is a deadie but a goodie.
Demetri Martin is good too, although his show is not that great.
-
A guy who does stuff somewhat in the vein of Mitch Hedberg that I saw recently is Hannibal Burress (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmcJuAQSAQo). I especially like the way that he tends to engage a lot of "black person comedy" tropes, but he comes at it from a really awkward and sometime absurd angle.
-
Patton Oswalt, Blaine Capatch, banjo playin' Steve Martin, Eugene Mirman, and of course Eddie Izzard are all good in my book.
-
Paul F. Tompkins.
Shitbirds.
-
I still haven't seen any of PFT's stand-up herp derp! I should get on that.

I saw him this summer along with Kristen Schaal. I was more excited for Schaal, but that dude was miles funnier.
-
He was a surprise guest at a Mike Birbaglia show I went to, on account of his plane being delayed. Funny guy. Writes for 30 Rock now, used to work for SNL.
-
Doug Stanhope
Andrew Maxwell
Bill Hicks
Eddie Izzard
Shappi Khorsandi
I've been seeing Josie Long and Reginald D Hunter on a lot of programmes over here. I quite like them.
-
Aside from classic guys like Carlin and Hedberg, I like Dave Chappelle, Zach Galifianakis, and Jim Jeffries. Haven't watched much comedy in the past few years aside from that, so I'll check a bunch of the stuff here out.
-
Jerry Seinfeld!
-
I've been watching a lil bit of Richard Pryor lately, (I know I'm slightly behind the ball on that one), but man, that guy was light years ahead. What a fuckin' hero.
-
I like Dylan Moran
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoLIU2NI66w (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoLIU2NI66w)
and Jón Gnarr (this is the current mayor of Reykjavik) i dont know if anyone else will find this funny

Louis CK, Patton Oswalt, Sklar Bros., Doug Benson, Mitch Hedberg (RIP), Marc Maron, Dave Attell, et al.
-
Stewart Lee is brilliant. Also:
Josie Long, Richard Herring, Simon Munnery, and Daniel Kitson. Daniel Kitson is amazing.
-
Daniel Kitson is amazing. I was just watching a bunch of his stuff on the Youtubes recently (I think I got there from related Stewart Lee stuff). His two Melbourne Comedy Fest Gala sets are like, literally legendary among my friends.
2003 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbUqhxPGFXY)

I'm going to see Nine Lessons and Carols for Godless People in Brighton on the 12th December. Really excited as it will have: Robin Ince, Dara O Briain, Josie Long amongst others. It's going to be ace.
-
i miss sam kinison. i loved his stuff back in the day.
it's kinda hard to believe he's been dead for nearly twenty years.
-
Paul F. Tompkins.
Shitbirds.
"How many smashed pennies have you seen in one place at one time? LESS THAN TWELVE??"
Also, Maria Bamford is very very funny.
-
Sklar Bros.
I miss Cheap Seats.
