Title: Which version do you like better
Post by: meatbag on 16 Nov 2010, 13:44: So I wrote a song, entitled Freezemylungs. The first: I just plugged into GarageBand, fucked with the drums by adding some bitcrush on the drums, added a little distorted scream, and a Psychedelic EQ filter. So all in all, not a lot of effort. The second, my friend produced in Ableton Live and took him a couple days.

2nd one was so much better the bells used went well with the rest of the track and when the tempo sped up it seemed natural.

Post by: sean on 18 Nov 2010, 08:11: notes- around 42 seconds where the beat goes into double time, it feels awkward and terrible. right after that it sounds like you have a cool little melody, its way to quiet though. and what the fuck happens around 3 minutes it sounds like you took a part from a totally different song and pasted it over. also, i liked the end at first but then you took out that thing you started out with (what is that, a perfect 4th? i think thats what it sounds like?) and it breaks the "coming full circle effect" which it sounds like you wanted to go for but didn't quite pull off.
other version - first of all, yr friend mixes way better. his choice of effects are kind of lame, but the levels are so much more balanced. also yr friends last section is 10000x than yr last section (the one that starts around 3 minutes or so?) end still is kinda weak though.

not a bad idea, but the song is obviously still in its infancy. work on it more. and for shits sake, shift meters or something cause goddamn its kinda boring as is.
