Ooh, that's a thought. Pintsize totally stabbed Marten in the back by showing Dora how to find his porn. Wonder if the lil' robot is going to be punished? Marten should install McAfee Virus Scan on him.
Simpler than that - remember that Pintsize's chassis is a lil'goldmine...
Oh God you guys I know where QC is going. :psyduck:
They just went through the Singularity.
So Dora is going to attempt to transcend human consciousness in order to avoid any further relationship fuck-ups. She will use Winslow and Hannelore's aid to make this attempt.
Marten will force Agent Turing to help him attempt same in exchange for Pintsize's chassis going (back?) to the government.
As they both reach SI>1, the ascendant AIs of the world learn what it is like to be broken up with/break up with someone, from both sides. Driven insane by the emotional turmoil, they decide to launch a xenocidal campaign against mankind. An apocalyptic war breaks out.
A betrayed Pintsize uploads his consciousness into a reaper morph from Eclipse Phase and goes on a rampage across Massachusetts, hunting for Marten's social circle and relatives. Faye becomes the grizzled bourbon-swilling leader of the human resistance, with the memory of Angus' bloody death at the hands of a rampant Momo to keep her hatred alive.
The backdrop to this new hellscape, ladies and gents. All those who said the Dora/Marten breakup would end the QC world? WERE RIGHT. In a way, anyhow.
This is a comic where machine hunts man in order to save them from their own hearts.
At least, 3/4 of the time it is. Gritty, high-octane transhumanist sci-fi drama.
The other 1/4 of the time is the ascended Dora and Marten having post-breakup passive-aggressiveness on another level of thought.

So, basically, the plot of HANCOCK?
D
-
Kind of I guess? I never saw Hancock. :?
I think both Dora and Marten would probably be individually able to stop the AIs rampaging, but are too bitter about the breakup to even try.
Most of the strip would have to focus on war-torn Earth. Be sort of like Terminator meets Galactica meets Takeshi Kovacs, only without any time travel and a lot more Faye.
I think QCpocalypse Faye would have to have an eyepatch. Or at least one of her glasses blacked out. I'm also not sure if Angus should be truly dead.
Sven is totally Momo's sex slave, though.

QC: Faye Whitaker Chronicles
Angus should be presumed dead, in a "but I saw your legs ripped from your torso" kind of way, until he can perform a massive Lazarus Maneuver in a later act, possibly as a cyborg.
Momo forces Sven to re-enact his dickish one-night-stand behavior with past ladies in different ways to fuel her RAEG at human relationships. It's like bedroom roleplay gone horribly horribly wrong.

Momo becomes a liquid metal shapeshifter to make the role-play more authentic. And, y'know, extrude edged weapons.
-
Tragically, Sven has long since been reduced to catatonic horror at the thought of putting his beloved penis inside a woman who is literally made of knives. He re-enacts these scenarios with Momo because it's the only fragment of his earlier memories and personality to have survived.

...I love T-1000 Momo, but. But. Here is something worse. Momo has Sven's exes stored somehow--either cyborg'd up for use as her remote bodies, or has their brain patterns and appearances in a virtuality which she connects Sven to when she feels he's in need of "punishment"; the exes are insane puppets of Momo, of course. These she uses for the aforementioned "scenarios" of psychosexual torment.
When he's had enough though, sweet little Momo-tan, in her adult-form body (from the strip she imagined macking on Sven) comes and comforts the poor half-mad Bianchi. She's gentle; even though she's a machine, Momo seems like she cares, almost. He has no idea the AI is the same as his exes, who he has been lead to believe collaborate with the machines because of what he did.
He's pretty insane, yeah. Some tiny part of him hopes that Faye and the human forces will rescue him one day. Momo, meanwhile, spearheads the official machine hunt for Whitaker, whom she sees as a personal foe.
Dunno what Momo would do with Marigold. I don't think she'd kill her, but there are worse fates than death.
Winslow, meanwhile, is part of a moderate AI coalition researching Hannelore as a template for new humanity; her disinterest in physical relationships and rightful fear of microbials makes her seem the only good human left.

I don't see Marten as really being a resistance fighter in this scenario. More that, perhaps, he was the first one to throw himself on the Pintsize Grenade in an attempt to protect the girls. Now the resistance fighters see him as sort of a messianic figure, Marten the Martyr in whose memory they fight.
I mean it's either that or we have to picture Marten as a ragtag badass resistance fighter, and I think he could only do that ironically in the first place.

No no no, dear Tergon! Read the OP! Marten is the CAUSE of all this. :-P He and Dora both ascended to intellect beyond humankind, but they weren't over their breakup, and the emotions unleashed on artificial-kind drove machines mad.
He is no hero; no, poor Sven, taken captive early, and Angus, torn apart saving Faye, they are heroes.
Marten is the object of loathing for all mankind and AI-kind, as is Dora--for he begot this wretched war, or so all the legends say.
Faye knows otherwise, but she doesn't speak out. She's mad at them both, too. For her own reasons.

I see now, I see!
Touche. Truly a gripping tale.

Can this be a side arc, AU style? Or a dream sequence, or something? It's sounds really awesome.

If Jeph wants, then sure. Hell, if a guest artist wanted to borrow the concept, that is Fine Too.

*bows* I try to entertain. Rest assured, I bear no ill will towards Dora or Marten; I was simply struck by the thought "what if Dora and Marten breaking up REALLY WAS the end of the world?!", I have been reading too much Eclipse Phase/David Brin and writing post-cyberpunk transhumanist space opera drabbles, and I needed something to distract me from the disgusting /r9k/-level horseshit being propagated in the WCDT by certain folks.
That, and it's just kind of fun to imagine the QC cast as ragtag future survivors in a grimdark world.

In which the transhuman AI running the world has been taken over by Yelling Bird.
-
The Yelling Bird intelligence agitates constantly for the other AIs to pursue the extinction of mankind via needlessly sexual, grotesque methods. The other AIs are considering sending him to live with the dolphins if he doesn't quit it.
The Yelling Bird intelligence, of course, has wanted man to perish from "everyone simultaneously choking to death on cocks" since long before the Breakup that precipitated the Rampancy, and possibly harbored such designs before Marten ever met Faye. Now, however, he's managed to force people to listen to him.
-
So, does THX-1138 (or whatever the Linux bot's name was) help Faye's resistance? Y'know, just to stick it to the MS and Mac bots that are wiping out the humans.
'cause you can't be Linux without being a) superior and b) contrarian.
-
PT-410X
-
PT originally helped with the human-extermination group of the Rampancy wholeheartedly, but felt it got corrupted by its own popularity and everyone kept using M$ and AppŁe nanoweaponry, the corporate tools. So he still agitated for human extermination, but using open-source weaponry. He also feeds info to Whitaker in protest, under the codename "Heatbeard."
-
I wonder what would happen to Dale though? He seems to be a little more resourceful then others, and has the ability to scheme, although, he is pretty clumsy which would get him killed but he seems to be a suitable leader for his own resistance movement.... Oh god.. Cosette probably had such a easy death.
[P.S: First post! I tried to register many times, but the emails never went through, finally it did today.. ugh.... ]
-
I can see Cosette surviving, sans some limbs. Dale, on the other hand, is the technical expert of the Whitaker Resistance. Its Gaius Baltar, if you will, possibly complete with crazypants.
Dave and Meena are fucking dead though.
-
And of course, Gina Riversmith was the first up against the wall.
Per Pintsize.
-
And of course, Gina Riversmith was the first up against the wall.
Per Pintsize.
It has been described by General Whitaker as "the little bastard's last honorable act."
Tai has also survived, as Whitaker's trusted assassin and second in command. Some spread rumors that she and the general share a bunk. General Whitaker has no truck with such rumors.
Which is to say if you spread those rumors, she will have you thrown out of a truck.

Steve with his Department of Kicking Ass abilities, he could make a powerful ally in the upcoming battles... And I don't think Tortura would die easily for that matter, heck they might meet again in the Resistance, hmm...
Heck! Maybe they could scavenge what is left of the Volcano base/Scientists lair for supplies.
-
I don't have the juices to contribute to this, but I wholeheartedly support this thread. Especially in light of the utter clusterfuck that is half the rest of the board.

Steve is definitely a frontliner. He has the most killbots downed of any Resistance member, and wields a massive machine gun which he has named "Tortura" in honor of his former enemy, who helped he and Cosette escape (though Cosette now has robot arms and legs and shit) at the cost of her own life to one of Pintsize's reaper teams.

Shit, has it gotten clusterfucked again already? What the hell people
It's not clusterfucked yet. I don't know if this WCDT will do that. If we see more of the breakup and voices are raised, almost assuredly so.
-
The Allosaurus should make an appearance for once, with Sara riding it's back! Of course, they probably won't last long, but Sara deserves at least a single moment of glory!
-
Just how intensively cybernetic are we talking with Cosette here? All of her limbs would suggest Pintsize wanted it to be slow but I can't imagine him having the patience for that. Also how exactly are they studying Hannelore? All of her psychoses would make her pretty hard to keep in one place without drugging her, which would lead to faulty data?

I don't know, with Cosette. I can see her being half mechaspider and that would be kinda cool, but so would built-in weaponry or a more Eli Vance setup.
Hanners, I think, is kept on her father's space station, as a pseudo-collaborator browbeaten into cooperation by her full-on collaborator mother and Winslow's still-semi-idealistic personality. He's one of the few AIs that honestly loves the humans and wants to end interpersonal relationships for their own good. Hannermom sees him and his moderate coalition as the eventual winners. Hanners knows the work they're doing is wrong; but how can she abandon Winslow? He needs her. It's her fault he's this way, right? She went on that date with Sven. She's guilty too.
So she submits to their tests and their blood draws and their 24-hour observations and their pointed questions. Because she has to do it.
-
There's one burning question I think we've all forgotten.
What are the Roomba family doing?
I like to think they're sneaking supplies to Hannelore under cover of darkness.
-

They're the Whitaker resistance's secret weapons. When the day finally comes that Faye blasts her way into Pintsize's inner sanctum to settle the war it will be on a jet-Roomba.
-
Let's just hope that Pintsize never finds the plans for Winslow Mark II (http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1010). Otherwise human-form terminators will be appearing in a matter of weeks...
-
Given the answer to my question earlier, i doubt Pintsize will get anywhere near those plans, though if done correctly, they could certainly create a lager scale version of a Sony AnthroPC. I don't see Steve sticking around with Spider-Cos, he's just as fickle as Sven, he just isn't afraid of commitment.
-

You don't?
But... but... eight appendages! All busy pleaasing him! And I'm sure she could be rigged for tentacles!
She'd keep Steve in a quasi-comatose euphoric state, 24-7, sending out his thoroughly controlled body to do her and Pintsize's bidding, undermining the resistance. See, she was reprogrammed before being rebuilt...
-
Which could account for his "success", no one looks at the guy getting all the kills to be the one stabbing them in the back. But you'd think they'd have screened her for any unusual behavior/brain activity before allowing her cybernetic self to be so close to the resistance's inner sanctum, especially with HeatBeards intel and the fact that she is new enough to be untrusted by Faye.

It's a sleeper-cell sort of thing. Works like the Cylons; the unusual brain activity only shows up when she's triggered. Or, worse, it isn't really Cosette; Pintsize made sure through some other collaborator connections that she'd have a ghostrider module implanted when she was rebuilt, so his A.I. can jump in and puppet her body. As for sending out Steve to do her and Pintsize's bidding...well, she'd have to be careful, but Steve's drunk enough on his own heroism and has enough guilt over how she lost half her body to listen to a lot from her...
-
First post since I just finally bothered to try sending my Activation Email again.
But.
I think we should all do an enormous fanfiction collaboration to bring this story to life.
I MEAN LOOK AT THIS, IT'S BEAUTIFUL.
Just the sheer ridiculosity of it all will have us giggling for weeks while simultaneously looking on in awe.
-
Why? It's already here! All we have to do is keep the thread alive. Maybe compile it later.
Keep posting, folks! Build it up, higher, ...weirder, and more... apocolyptic than before!
-
Fair enough, though I see this more as an outline than anything.
As for contributing...
Raven, who had been cultivating her intelligence in college, finally allowing herself to ascend to heights that would make her parents proud, goes into hiding. She reunites with Benji after fleeing to Canada. Soon after building her own small, underground, ragtag group, she learns of Faye's resistance and begins to supply her with various combination machineries and weapons, like submacopters and tachts. Eventually, she realizes that sending weaponry/machines isn't enough. Despite much protest from Benji, Raven heads back down to the states to rendezvous with Faye. She becomes part of Dale's unit.
... I just like the idea of a smart Raven, I think.
-
This is more of an outline, yeah. If people wanted to do short fiction works or something in this thread, that would be rad by me.
Smart Raven is hella approved. I think she's kind of the Whitaker Resistance's combination theoretical physicist and mechanic.
Also, looking back at the old strips, it is frightening how fucking much Pintsize CANONICALLY wants to evolve to a godlike state. This is just not fucking good for ANYONE. :psyduck: :psyduck: :psyduck:
-
Smart Raven is hella approved. I think she's kind of the Whitaker Resistance's combination theoretical physicist and mechanic.
But she's so still a ditz, all pottering around in her combination garage/lab/cloaked stealth truck and occasionally producing improved EMP rifles and phased ion cannon when she gets distracted from her research on cupcakene by rude robots, because the war and the rebellion and everything else just haven't quite filtered through yet...
-
I could totally see her being a ditz and really smart at the same time.
Though, she probably has her moments of complete clarity when she fully realizes the gravity of the situation.
-
...which is exactly when she decides to bang her lab assistants, in order to drown such realizations out.
-
I've been throwing Raven ideas around in my head since i started posting to this thread, this is much the same direction I was heading. Though I imagined her lab as more of an airship/safe house on which she was developing condensed mass weapons (gauss rifles, "gravity bombs" etc.) while simultaneously sending secret messages to Hannelore's father about a plan to implement a virus that will act like a trojan searching out and sending back valuable information from all AI's eventually leading to Sven's rescue, and possibly much more.
-
The VespAvenger should so be the leader of the Calvary! Think of it! An army of Ex-Girlfriends taking out their vengeance on the Machines while riding their Vespas! That would be deadly.
-
Oh! Oh! No, wait! Rmember, she designed and built the vespa-bot, and went to work for the gummint after being caught, designing DOD killbots.
She now runs a sabateur brigade, training recruits on the machine's weak spots, how to disable them with a single pulse from a gauss rifle, immobilization techniques, etc.
But yeah, they all ride Vespas... 'cause that'd be cool.
-
We could even have a whole flashback upon the VespAvenger's reintroduction that showed how she escaped from DoD HQ Through all the A.I.s
