Title: The Dora/Marten memorial altar
Post by: Is it cold in here? on 22 Nov 2010, 10:30
In which we leave memories of happy times. Go ahead and post even if you don't remember a strip number, there are plenty of people to do that for you.

For example, http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1262,  in which Marten surprises and lifts the mood of an unhappy Dora with a bag of thoughtful gifts.

Link fixed.  Or fix yours, and I'll delete.

Edit:  Note how even the happiest of times were tinged with panic...

http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1300

In which Dora hits Marten because he dared say something that she could have possibly taken wrong.

http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1302

In which Dora displays a belief that she is superior to Marten

http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1309

Wherein Marten lies to Faye about how his relationship with Dora is going.

http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1314

In which Dora lies to Marten about her confidence and trust in him.

http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1324
Through
http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1328

A saga in four strips, wherein Dora gives the lie to her false statement in 1314.

http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1349

PINTSIZE SEDUCTION INTERLUDE

http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1351
Where Marten lies to Steve about the state of his and Dora's relationship.

http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1360
http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1361
http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1362

I just..  I don't even...   Wherein Dora goes into a full blown pornographic fugue state, thus providing conflicting input to Marten as to what she expects from him.
1362 is notable for Marten's hesitant, fearful "you're not mad, are you?"

http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1395

Wherein Dora is jealous that Marten does something that doesn't relate to her, her, her.

I could keep going, but to sum up...

My donation to the Dora/Marten Memorial Altar is a poop, with a little sign stuck in it. The sign reads 'THIS WAS A BAD IDEA'. The sign is also on fire.

Because despite all the bad moments they may have had, Dora and Marten were pretty good together.

I like how as far back as 1324, Jeph knew:

Quote from: Jeph
Cue completely idiotic "Dora's a bitch!" "No, Marten's a jerk!" debate on the comic discussion boards.

THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS

IT IS ALSO WHY WE ARE POOR AND WHY THE RENT IS TOO DAMN HIGH

I've always liked the "Murr" comic.
I don't know which one that is though...

it's very cute.

I can't remember the number of the strip, but I'd like to submit the one where Marten finishes her back tattoo with the two of them roasting marshmallows.

Because it was ADORABLE.

870 (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=870).

Which, for  some strange reason, is skipped in the archive.  How strange!

I love the part in 1749 where they tell each other they love them.  I had it as my desktop for quite a while.

Don't know the numbers, but there's two others besides the ooey-gooey marshmallow moment.

When Steve is complaining about girls and tells Marten he has the perfect relationship, when Marten protests, Dora surprises him with cookies!

The other example is a couple of strips long, where Marten's wearing the SCRA(?) band shirt and Dora buys tickets to their next show.

Cookies are 1030, SCRA tickets 1174.

What do you mean?  Hitting previous or next from the appropriate strips seems to go to it just fine...

Linked for ya.  The code is

Code: [Select]
763 to get 763 (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=763).

I actually just select the text and use the "insert url" button (looks like a globe), which gives the tags, then put the equals sign and paste the address into the first tag.

Oh, yeah, I know.  Since they were linked above I didn't bother.
Mostly I'm looking for evidence that Wiregeek isn't totally right.  Keep the thread going, in my opinion!  There must be more.

Here are a pair I randomly found while in (looking at other strips) in the WCDT thread.  Maybe not so much "happy times" as, "how much they were together (at the time)".

#962 Hostage Crisis (http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=962)
#968 Worry Party (http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=968)

Dora, for once, does not freak out because of insecurity.

There was a time jump between comics 1793 and 1794, so we don't know how long in QCtime those 50 strips are.

My favorite is still Doras thoughts about old Marten (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1515).

I didnt expected them to split after that scene ... and so soon after that scene.

P.s.: Pfft, neither single nor double quotes allowed around links. Why does every site work differently in this respect ...

Oooh, I can se it now!  A tall, skinny boy dressed as a nymph, bare cheted, gauzy harem pants, a floral wreath upon his brow, spreading petals along the way before the grooms.

Much in the spirit of Art Nouveau, just kitchy enough to be classic...
