Title: Maybe someone could help
Post by: Jerich on 29 Nov 2010, 03:56
Trying to find more music I would like but having a hard time of it, the last time I was looking for more of an Indie Rock band I ended up hearing Eligh for the first time.  And that's kind of...  uh...  Hip-hop.  Which isn't even close to what I set out to find.

So here is what I listen to and maybe with that someone could point me in the right direction:  Band of Horses, Cajun Dance Party, Five Iron Frenzy, Modest Mouse, Mumford and Sons, Reel Big Fish, Scala and the Kolacny Brothers, Spoon, and the Fratellis.  (Sub note as I mentioned it hip-hop:  Bone Thugs, Eligh, and Del.)

You should try Pandora, or Slacker Radio.  You start with an artist or song that you like, and they play similar tunes for you.  I have found a lot of new bands to listen to this way.

Or you could go with StaedlerMars' list, that is some decent alliteration there!

Yeah, it's not bad.  Thank god for Youtube.

Eh, I dunno about that, I didn't like Slayer even when I was really into metal.

Listen to as many Omar Rodriguez Lopez records as you can. Also all the De Facto albums.

Rolo Tomassi are also cool.

None of these bands are anything you suggested, just thought they are worth a listen.

I'm a rocker chick and a metal head ... New to indie music ... Never even thought of listening to it until I got into QC .....

Guess I'm asking .. is there a good "starter" band for indie music?

And I want my boobies to wear Christmas hats ... how do I add a Santa hat?? I've seen lots of people with those
