A result of all that bakery drawing goodness no doubt but;
Panel 3 - "Tai" has no body when viewed through the glass counter below.
Panel 4 - Similar thing, "Dora" has no body either, but what body she has got is somehow behind the tray at the base of the coffee machine. Perhaps the coffee machine ate her? :-o
Funny! really enjoy reading the strip though.
-
Tai? I thought that was Faye. :psyduck:
-
The glass case has a clear glass front, but a solid (opaque) top and back (probably sliding doors for access, they look wooden).
Not all glass display cases are all-glass display cases!
-
But, it does look like those lines in the back of the case are a continuation from the counter behind the two characters.
-
I was pretty sure it was Faye as well.
The back of the bakery shelf is actually painted exactly as it would look on the other side, so that when viewed from the exact angle Jeph drew it from, it appears as though the person behind it has no lower body.
It just looks stupid from any other angle.
-
Damn, now I see it - I didn't before. I just saw it as the sliding doors to the case!
Maybe the counter was designed by M. C. Escher (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andrew.lipson/escher/belvedere.jpg)?
-
I go with mistake, but it doesn't worry me. It'll be interesting to see if Jeph picks it up and either puts doors on the case or does the visibility through correctly in future.
-
Definitely looks more like Tai than Faye, considering the breast size. Doesn't really matter much, though.

Future? There is no future, for this is a Bizarro coffee shop that will cease to exist once Marten and Hannelore leave. Pocket universes, quantum theory, falling tree without a listener, temporary plot devices. The cake is a lie, etc, etc.
-
I... don't see it.
It's a brownish sliding door behind the thing that looks like a huge cheesecake.
And the shelves in front of the two guys are angled in such a way that you can't see through to the back of the display case.
-
The countertop lines up but the doors don't.

Bizarro Dora running through the coffee machine is definitely an error, though. (Unless Thursday's fairy lady had something to do with it... (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14073868/pictures/emotes/emot-iiam.gif))
-
Okay, now THAT is picking nits.
-
OK, I'm new here, but I can already see why Jeph supposedly hates the forum.
*Cue "STFU NOOB"*
-
Please note it was started by someone's first post - it's a noob thread. I don'tthink most of the regulars noticed, or even would care...
well, not much.

Okay, now THAT is picking nits.
I meant that if the doors didn't line up, maybe the case has back doors on it that are the same color as the rest of the cabinetry (explaining why neither characters show through when standing behind it), but the countertop is visible "through" the case so that's probably not it.
(Should have explained better in that post. Sorry. :( )

Well, absolutely charming. I happen to really like QC, no, I haven't posted before but have I been following for years and read them all at least twice, yes.
I wasn't posting anything inflammatory, or trolling, just highlighting what looked like a mistake. I happen to admire not only the quality writing but the transformation in artwork over the years but I know sometimes when you're working on a piece it's easy to miss the obvious, I've done it enough with my own (strictly hobby!) work over the years. I'll put a piece down, come back some time later and end up lighting things from a different direction or something.
Anyway, looks like Jeph agreed, at least with panel 4 as he's now added alt Dora's body through the glass cabinet.
Thanks for the warm welcome anyway folks.

This is not why Jeph hates the forum.
*Cue "STFU NOOB"*
This was uncalled for.
-
*peeks through her fingers*
phew!
I was going to prematurely expostulate that quantum-"Dora" doesn't appear to be running through the coffee maker at all when I realized Jeph may have fixed that, as well. I would, however, like to toss in my dos centavos and say that when (the strange?) Tai/Faye-esque being stoof behind the counter in panel 3, you couldn't see her .. but you can see the Dora-esque one as she runs ....
O PSYDUCK! :psyduck:
-
It's a street of magic and mysteries, folks. Trust in Hanners and you can't go wrong.
-
The Diagon Alley of Northampton?
-
I hate to stoke the fire some more, but the third panel is still messed up; the cabinet is clearly meant to be see-through as "Dora" is visible through it in the corrected panel four, but "Tai" is not visible through it when she is standing behind it.
I honestly hadn't noticed any errors until I read this thread... can't unsee...
I do love this comic, though. Pretty much sums up the whole plot so far, in a way.

This was uncalled for.
When i said "*Cue "STFU NOOB"*" - I was referring to myself, i.e., predicting that someone would basically say it (perhaps not in so many words) to me over my post. I wasn't referring to the thread creator.
-
I guess that it was also uncalled for to presume that someone would break the forum rules to treat you disrespecfully, because in general people don't here. And as for what Jeph hates, it's spelt out in the sticky thread "Conduct in this forum".
-
Sorry. I really wasn't trying to start a kerfuffle.

'Twas not my intention to offend, not in the least. You're more than welcome, of course, and you spotted something interesting that (I think) most of the people who read the comment (let alone the forum) wouldn't have spotted. I was really replying to horsefish who felt, as a "noob" (lousy elitist term, that one), that they would be trounced on. My point was that, in your first post, you'd brought up something interesting, and no one had said STFU or anyting of the sort!
Sorry if it seemed I was attacking at all, I was trying to reassure someone else.
I guess my aim was off (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1078)...

Must resist urge to attempt to hit through screen!
Just referencing the last line of that comic, of course. :-D

Tai? I thought that was Faye. :psyduck:
I thought it was Raven.

Thanks, Carl-E. I was just about ready to get out the fancy hats and try to Defeat Awkwardness With Maximum Ridiculosity (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1425)

That makes me smile. :-D :-D :-D

OMFG! DUDE WHO DRAWS A WEBCOMIC MAKES AN ARTISTIC MISTAKE!
CALL THE SECRET POLICE HE MUST BE PUT DOWN!
-
Thanks, Sean - but I think this is under control.
And, guys, I think there will be no need to go on about the missing part of Marten's arm in 1846 (as initially posted). And before anyone asks, it's been fixed now.
-
These things simply must be pointed out at all times. I mean, clearly QC is read for the artistic mastery. I wasn't even aware of a story or characters.

Well now I noticed it, its actually highly irritating ... funny.

It's always nice to know that my opinion is overlooked because I've not been here long. I suppose that when I'm finally a fancy, cigar smoking, 1000-post member it'll feel all the better to have laughable souls who had just found this comic and the forum that belongs to it far, far beneath my mighty online presence.
-
I think he meant they wouldn't have noticed or commented on the mistake, rather than your post. Don't be discouraged!
-
Well tbh Jeph worked a lot on that strip, I think he spent over 4 hours drawing that one since all the pastries details, the new characters, etc. Is quite possible that he had made a mistake, since his attention was focusing on the new backgrounds AND TEH MEDNESS BLARGAURGHAURGH :-D
And, for what is worth, welcome tho the forums ;)
-
I think I should have just deleted that post, so many people have taken it the wrong way!
Pity it won't affect all the quotes of it, though, most of which are out of context.
Nick and Marla, I refer you to a slightly later post of mine (http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,25965.msg1004548.html#msg1004548) that you may have missed in all the kerfuffle. It explains my intent, and I again offer my apologies for expressing myself so poorly at the time.
You are of course very welcome here!
-
Pffff... Looking at the body figure it's obviously a Tai-person and not a faye-person.
-
This thread is mostly pointless, interspersed with misunderstandings and explanations. I think it's had its time and should die in peace.
