Having now seen the costume proper, I'm less worried about this movie.

So, Spidey reboot; any thoughts, guys?
EDIT: sauce (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=30828)

Jury's still out on this one I think.
Costume looks ok though.
-
that....seems weirdly appropriate
i'm still not sure about this one but i'm definitely looking forward to it since i'm a huge spiderman nerd. the costume looks great and the actor certainly looks skinny enough to pull of the character. tentatively excited
-
His head looks like a basketball.
-
He probably needs another haircut.
I just realised that no one is going to get that joke. (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3313/4591358558_fafcc1f484_z.jpg)

Far too early for a reboot.
-
Wait until I get to my late twenties then I'll be more enthusiastic about it.
-
Wait, the director's name is Marc Webb?
Teeheehee!
-
maybe he's the real spiderman and this movie isn't a reboot after all, it's actually a biography
-
In DVD/film write-ups he shall forever be referred to as Webb of Spider-Man
-
I'm just in love with Andrew so um, you know, kanyeshrug
-
Yeah, Andrew's got chops, so I'm not worried about a shitty actor as much as a shitty script. Don't have a clue who's writing, though.
-
rebooting a franchise that's less than a decade dead is stupid, but Raimi hate pisses me off. it wasn't his fault that the studio forced him into including like 3475645 villains in the third movie.
-
well i think alot of people were already put off enough just by Raimi's style (which is admittedly really weird) in the first place, so that by the time they shit-fucked the third one into oblivion alot of people couldn't take it anymore.
i say it's all worth it though because in the end we got that ridiculous dance scene out of it and that scene will stand the test of time and make people go "what the fuck did i just watch?" for many years to come
-
Additionally I have never heard of this Garfield guy but apparently he was in Lions for Lambs? Rad
-
He was also in The Social Network and The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus (otherwise known as Heath Ledger's Last Movie).
-

James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves
Vanderbilt wrote the screenplay for Zodiac, Sargent did Spider-man 2 and 3 and Kloves has done most of, if not all, the Harry Potter films.
-
Garfield was also in Boy A, if you want a film to show that he's an incredible actor that would be the one I would suggest.
The second I heard that Raimi was not getting to do another Spider-Man movie, I cheered. When I heard that Kirsten and Tobey were out, I cheered yet again. Having Webb and Garfield do it, I have nothing but high expectations.
-
His entire costume looks like a basketball.

My fears are pretty much eliminated.
-
Dude is pretty hot.
Will probably see this film.
-
I dunno, I'm not sold on Kloves and I haven't seen Zodiac. I find the Harry Potter films' scripts to be a little on the nose? Maybe that's just coupled with the main actors not really coming into their own as actors until like, the most recent 3ish films.
-
I'm of the mind that it's the second bit. If those parts were played by Kodi Smit-Mcphee (spelling? the kid from The Road), Chloe Moretz and Haley Joel Osmont with his hair dyed red, I think the movies would've been noticeably better. I'm not knocking on the actors as they are now, but they weren't all that great when they were younger. In any case, Zodiac was a Fincher movie, so the script was probably pretty damn good.
-
Zodiac is probably one of the best American movies of the last decade, and easily Fincher's best film.
-
Yeah Zodiac was fantastic, see it if you get the chance.
-
Prop suit looks like it was designed by Reebok, if you've seen the photos.
Also there are some pretty awkward-looking photos around the internet of them doing... wierd poses, if you're into that sort of thing.
-
They need to cast Jesse Eisenberg as someone. I really don't care who.
-
Well, they're only slightly behind how quickly Spiderman gets rebooted as an animated series, so why the hell not I guess?
Does leave a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth, to be honest, but not like that's going to stop anyone from doing it...
:-(

I don't see why people think this is a fast reboot. I mean, look at the Hulk:
2003: Hulk (Bana)
2008: The Incredible Hulk (Norton)
2011: The Avengers (Ruffalo)
Hell, even Batman only took 16 years to go from Burton to Begins, and if they had it done it sooner, we wouldn't have had to deal with Batnipples.
-
So we should call it a NAT?
