So, just wondering what games people have got through the XBLA and what they think of them.
I haven't really had too much from there (money and 20GB HDD for one thing) but I did get a few:
Sonic Adventure: To my dismay it was the Director's Cut, so that means that the 1999 version I loved on my Dreamcast stayed there, while I played a glitchy version of it. Its also aged horribly - what I thought would be a nice nostalgia trip ended up being disappointment.
Outrun: Pretty awesome, its the usual deal really. Although multiplayer achievements are impossible due to nobody else playing online.
I'm thinking about buying Marathon: Durundal. Anybody had any experience with this?
As a service I find it pretty convenient but sometimes I think "well, that's way overpriced".

PACMAN CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION DX.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THIS GAME, YOU NEED TO BUY THIS GAME. Seriously, the best pac man game I have ever played hands down, it's incredible, the style, the music, especially the menu music oh my god. This game is everything that is right with the world.

Can we talk about XBL Indie games in here too?
because you should all probably definitely buy:
Miner Dig Deep
Epic Dungeon
Silent Call
Cthulhu Saves The World
As far as XBLA goes, Ilomilo or whatever it's called is really neat, though maybe not worth full price. I bought it on a Friday when I was sick and it was a good way to spend a lazy weekend, but not much beyond that.
edit: might as well list some other Arcade games I've bought and enjoyed:
Trials HD (absolutely necessary)
Geometry Wars 2
Castle Crashers
Magic: The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers (meh. if you like Magic it's cool, but even then it's probably not worth it)

The Scott Pilgrim game is really good, and you can't go wrong with Marvel vs Capcom 2

"February 28th - "Members Choice Deal of the Week" GOLD MEMBERS ONLY
* Pac-Man Championship Edition DX - 400 Microsoft Points - 50% off" (Cheapass Gamer)
It looks like the Pac-Man CE DX is going to be on sale next week.
The games I really like on Xbox Live Arcade are:
LIMBO
Monday Night Combat
Breath of Death 3
Cthullu saves the world
Scott Pilgrim

I MAED A GAME WITH ZOMBIES IN IT!!!11! (or thereabouts) is a really fun mob-shooter game for $1. It's an indie. It's funny, too.
Catan is fun for your single-player needs.
There are a couple of standalone Dead Rising 2 games. Try 'em out.
Streets of Rage 2oooooooo
Crazy Taxiiiiiiii

Limbo (I thought it was awesome. fairly minimalist and atmospheric and pretty looking, and at the same time pretty hard and makes you think)
Braid (I'm sure you've heard of this one. it's really good)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (old game that I never got the chance to play the first time around. very fun)
Pacman Championship Edition DX (what Gemmwah said)
Super Meat Boy (http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-super-meat-boy/17-3387/ (http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-super-meat-boy/17-3387/) explains it far better than I could)
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (it's sonic the hedgehog 2)

I don't own an xbox myself, but I'd like to recommend a game that originally came out for the PC and was given an update on XBLA: Zeno Clash (http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Zeno-Clash-UE/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802584109dc). It's a first-person brawler that takes some cues from classic 2D fighting games, but also has a great story and an incredibly amazing 'punk fantasy' setting and a very alien atmosphere. Try it!

so the person/people who made the excellent Miner Dig Deep have made another game, and it's called Wizard's Keep. I bought it yesterday, haven't played too much of it, but it's pretty cool.
It's a lot like Miner Dig Deep in that you have to venture into the unknown (or known, I guess) to get/do things and then return to "base camp" to resupply. Except it's an RPG instead of a....mining simulation platformer? It's seems pretty basic but it's pretty fun, and I wouldn't be surprised if, like MDD, it ends up being way more deep and complex than it initially seems. The combat is pretty hard at first, because it's deceptively simple, but you figure it out pretty quickly.
Anyway, I bought it just on principle alone because MDD was so great and I really want these guys to keep making games for as long as possible.
