Hi All,
Has anybody else noticed the similarity of Meiville and the cat Isis from the classic Star Trek episode Assignment: Earth?
Gary Seven spoke to Isis as if she understood english and he understood her mewing replies.
The only difference is that Meiville has yet to appear in human form, only once, to Terri Garr.
I originally thought that Meiville was Dora's familiar (daemon in animal form) from her Wicca/Goth days.
Any way of asking Jeph what he was thinking at the time? Or as usual, we'll just have to wait until a loose thread is tied up or just dropped. The same as the source of Pintsize's props....
-
Meiville IS Isis :-D
-
No, they were formerly Siamese twins!
-
Isis was somewhat better behaved.
-
So, what you're saying is that they were separated at birth 37 years apart.
Actually, I think Isis was the supervisor and Gary was just the grunt worker.
-
As an irrelevant aside, the river Thames where it is passing through Oxford is known as the river Isis (historically a university oddity, I guess, but now enshrined in the Ordnance Survey's maps). Sadly, this is nothing to do with the god, but is simply another way of abbreviating the Latin name of Thamesis.

I don't see how talking to your cat ( or any pet for that matter) is so unusual that it can't be a coinsedence....
-
Having the cat talk back is less common.

Having the cat talk back is less common.
That's my point, exactly!
Isis reminds Gary how to open the missle engine and Meiville makes a request for Dark Side of The Rainbow.
Ah HA!
Now I have figured the Jeph out. The cats are a [not] coincidence. Just as the timing and musical choices of Dark Side of the Moon 'just Happen' to match the pacing and scene changes of The Wizard of Oz. It is 'just a coincedense' that we have two black cats that can hold 2-way conversations with their ostensible 'owners'.
Conspricy Therorists Rejoice!
-
I'm pretty sure it's not a coinsedence. :police:
I'm also fairly sure that it's just a coincidence.
Lot's of people have conversations with their cats.
There are also cats that have their own blogs and twitter feeds.

So does this mean Princess is Spot (Data's cat)?
-
All black cats are Mehitabel (http://www.donmarquis.com/archy/index.html).
At least, they are to me.

So does this mean Princess is Spot (Data's cat)?
Who is Princess? Fiction/Real? What human claims ownership?

Having the cat talk back is less common.
Cats often talk back, especially Siamese cats. It's just that we can't understand them.
-
Hey, speak for yourselves. My cat speaks back to me on occasion.
-
I've never heard a cat speak per se, but their body language is unmistakable.
It's usually some variation of "Fuck off! I'm sleeping!"

So does this mean Princess is Spot (Data's cat)?
Actually Princess IS Ernst Stavro Blofeld's Solomon from the James Bond Fillms.
Check panel 2 of the strip: http://questionablecontent.net//view.php?comic=877
Besides, Spot is an orange tiger. Princess is a white persian. Close, but not quite.
