If Rubicon taught us anything, it's that ordering/confirming remote attacks are both super boring and depressing.

i mean, i dont think hollywood would take issue with using dramatic license to show some epic fire-fight with some rambo type shit.

or Call of Duty

Also they had a game a long time ago that involved you hunting and killing his top generals and then him, all after fist fights. It was terrible.

Katheryn Bigelow was already working on a movie about a failed assassination attempt on his life...so there's that, I guess.

Delta Force: Black Hawk down had a bonus level where some dude solos into a Somali lair to assassinate Farah Aidid.

I think that's really the only comparable thing I can think of

Anytime I think of Chris Tucker all I can see is his role in Fifth Element.

If I remember rightly, before that level in the Delta Force game there's a voice-over cut-scene where a dude rants about how the democrats in congress just wouldn't let them win, damn it!

Like basically the whole point of the Delta Force games is that you are a fucking killing machine who chews through mostly brown dudes by the score, and you can take a bunch of poorly aimed shots from an AK-47 and live but you can snipe the enemy through the calf from over a kilometre away and they die instantly and so on and so on but that stood out as particularly egregious. Though I seem to remember another level in the same game where I think you're actually protecting a convoy from the air but how it mostly played was you ride around in an (invincible) Black Hawk helicopter with a minigun with unlimted ammunition and just murder like 200 somali militia over about a quarter of an hour.

Yeah the game was basically How to Slaughter Somali Militia (And Occasionally Somali Alligators) and Fuck Up Their Life

A game about the hunt for Osama would probably do the same thing except for Pakistanis

I think the last generation of video games suggests that they're ready to go in this direction though. Specifically because they had a mission in Black Ops where you were supposedly assassinating Fidel Castro (who is alive and ostensibly still in charge of a country!) and the much maligned Medal of Honor reboot was legitimately based on a real operation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Takur_Ghar) in Afghanistan. Considering the fact that in that game you play as a Navy SEALS DEVGRU (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Naval_Special_Warfare_Development_Group) unit, who just took out Bin Laden incidentally, it seems like the obvious conclusion to the series. Probably too late to put it in the second game but my guess is it'll be in the third and final instalment. I'll bump this thread if it happens!

To be fair in Black Ops you kill a double, and the real Fidel gloats over you when you're captured.

Why? Inglorious Basterds had an unarmed Hitler's face being pasted off by a machine gun and nobody really minded ('cepting the usual worryworts who think violent revenge fantasies are all "bad"). Rob Zombie got a cult action hit featuring a kidnapped woman being raped with a gun. All they need to do is insert a (probably doomed) soulful brown ally ala The Kingdom to balance out the "they shot an unarmed brown dude!" factor. I mean I think film violence is prevalent and celebrated enough now that it's a little ridiculous to wring your hands over whether or not the actor getting fake-shot onscreen is problematic because the real guy got real-shot offscreen. How is it any different than any other instance of dramatized murder? Did people get in a tizzy about Zodiac?

series of good points except that they didn't exactly suggest that the zodiac killer was the sympathetic protagonist of that movie

I mostly hope the screenwriter for this inevitable film stumbles across some of our script from the inevitable bad dudes film (http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,16529.0.html) and steals it

Yeah, I mean Hitler committed suicide, but Inglorious Basterds exists.

This got discussed at work yesterday, mostly about casting.

We feel that the two best bets to play bin Laden are either Sean Connery, or George Clooney.

What about having a Middle Eastern actor play a Middle Eastern character? Or is that completely out of the picture?

Really, Kris? You're expecting this from the industry that hired an Anglo-Indian actor to play an Iraqi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sayid_Jarrah)?

How about this kid! (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3226241/)

Poor kid. It's not his fault the casting director picked him. It IS his fault, however, that he can't act his way out of a box.

Clooney would make him oddly likable!

(in my world, it's a satirical comedy)

Something that just came up in my mind was how Mark Strong played an Israeli at some point

and it was actually really convincing in a creepy way

There are plenty of Israelis who weren't born anywhere near Israel and don't look in any way Middle Eastern.

I mean welcoming Jews from all over the world was kind of the whole point of the creation of the country.
