So I hit the random button a few times, and had a few good laughs. But then something strange happened...
This comic (http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1096) was followed by this one (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=572).
Note the last line of the first, and the title of the second. Coincidence?
Yeah, probably.

*gasp*

Ha, that's awesome! I jumped right to the strips and thought it was cool how they mirrored each other. Then I noticed your comment about the title, which was the icing on the cake.
(Hell, it just became the entire cake.)
A Challenger Appears!
I wonder how many other interesting pairings of QC strips can be found...

Maybe it's a phrase Jeph hears a lot in his life. :-o
-
I almost never read the titles - my eye's always drawn to the comic, and I didn't even realize there were titles until Jeph mentioned them in a newspost early on. I still don't often "see" them, unless they're mentioned somewhere. But this one? It jumped right out at me, probably because I had just heard those exact same words... in my head.

Holy crap!!
hehe, and one of my favorite Faye-moments just a few comics down the line from the second one
"This is why I don't like change. It changes things." :)

it could easily be me but i was rereading some of the series and came across http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=656
now to me it seems like there is a nodoka miyazaki looking at a negi springfield from the series negima. now i could be way off but in my mind that is exactly what is happeneing there.

...Or it could be two Smif College co-eds (is that the right term for an all-girls college?), one with blue hair and another with longer, unkempt hair - or that other person on the left could even be Sven or Angus...
Bellisario's Law applies here, I think...
-
Bellisario's Maxim applies when you're putting a work of fiction under extreme and unreasonable scrutiny to see what doesn't make sense. Attempting to identify references or shout-outs doesn't apply there, I believe. Besides, Jeph is a fan of a lot of anime. It's not the last time that he snuck in a reference (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2137) in the form of a background character.
-
plus people have been known to put other series characters in their series as kind of a tribute. and i can prove that he at least knows of the existance of negima because of marigolds twitter. september 29 2009 "harry potter is lame, it is basically just a rip off of negima."

Tons of shout-outs, anime and otherwise, in QC. The backgrounds of tbe beer-sledding party are full of visiting characters, and there are a few Northampton street scenes featuring other cartoonists. Wil Wheaton also shows up.

...TWICE. (He was in the background at the sledding party as well, If Memory Serves.)

For me it's Pintsize's quote about when the sinularity happens that "I will become porn!" I always imagine a GIR like echoey voice
