FAYE: "There is a way to get her down off the ceiling, and frankly, I don't like to think of it, because you have to think of something sad."
DORA: "Then do get on with it, please."
FAYE: "Let me see... I have the very thing: Yesterday, when the lady next door answered the door, there was a man there, and the man said to the lady, 'I'm terribly sorry, I just ran over your AnthroPC.'"
[SAM descends from being up in the air]
DORA: "Oh, that is sad."
SAM: "The poor AnthroPC."
FAYE: "And the man said, 'I'd like to replace your AnthroPC's chassis.' And the lady said, 'That's all right with me, but how are you with catching squirrels?'"
[They all burst out laughing and SAM re-ascends back into the air]

FAYE:  At this rate we'll have the whole set by the end of the week!  First the Malaysian  Battle Spatula, now the Slovakian War Ladle.
SAM:  CAN WE DO THE CANADIAN COMBAT BUTTER-KNIFE NEXT!

Dora: "Oh, no, not this again".
Faye: "This is only the start! I want to keep developing her skill. Don't you think Coffee of Doom needs its own Abrams tank?"
Sam: "Hear me, people! When the soup is upside down, the Lord commands that the ladle be upside down also!"

Sam: "Release me and my war ladle from your magnetic prison!"
Dora: "Oh, Christ... what happened now?"
Faye: "Well, she kind of got into the coffee stores and ate half a bag of beans. Putting super glue on the ladle and holding her with that roof magnet seemed to be the only solution."

Depends on how well you can draw.  For mine, it's hard to tell the difference between clothed and naked, probably because I can only draw stick figures.

Well, I've seen drawings of fabric care instruction icons that were on tags inside my clothes, so I guess they're an example.

Now that I think about it, how does one draw a naked picture of themselves at the bottom of a cup?
Title: Re: QC Captions Vol. 61
Post by: jwhouk on 10 May 2012, 23:45
...verrrrryyy carefully.
Title: Re: QC Captions Vol. 61

By drawing from a life model. Put yourself at the bottom of a cup, draw a picture of that, don't put clothes on the picture, and you have made a naked drawing of yourself at the bottom of a cup.

I don't understand how anyone ever learns English. Are other languages so infinitely misparseable?

German is close, but not quite.
Title: Re: QC Captions Vol. 61

I was enjoying the conversation as an example of "deliberately misunderstanding/taking literally for humor's sake."

As a Midwest Amurrican, I'm often tempted to respond to those around me who make fun of a non U.S.-ian's attempt at English by asking my fellow Amurrican how he or she'd do in the speaker's native tongue. Standard response 7-E: Go live there if I like it so much.

But I think we're all, myself included, missing the important question: Does the alcohol in an Old Fashioned dissolve the Sharpie ink? And what does that do to the flavor? Not to mention the drinker?

Judging by the Wikipedia page... depends on how much ink is used, I would probably say. Methylated spirits (basically pure ethanol) can dissolve the ink, so I'd say alcoholic drinks would probably do the same, but whether the results are still drinkable is not disclosed (I personally wouldn't risk a glass of Johnny Walker for the sake of science).
