One of the joys of Twitter is that you can follow along about your favorite comic artist's creative process:

That question about the phrase "temporary visa" makes me wonder if Jeph's going in an unexpected direction.

Faye is the one to smooth things over in an awkward situation??

I dimly remember her doing something similar once recently.

Impressive personal growth, Pugnacious Peach.

Dora just questioned it, quite calmly too (either therapy seems to be working, or she just knows Tai). Tai's more freaked out if anything else (Dora's proximity notwithstanding).

Oh, yeah, and some suggested options:
- Double Secret: Strong enough for an indie boy, used by his female roomie
- Mennen and Womennen Not-so-Speed Stick
- Dunno. It's either something Faye bought or Dora left behind.
- ... actually, it's canned air for cleaning Pintsize.
- Pssshhhht! (You've probably never heard of it).
- Whatever's on sale at the dollar store.
- Febreze

Fun fact that most people who've browsed imdb knows: The groundhog who carries news to Mufasa early in the movie Lion King was originally supposed to be a naked mole rat. It looked too much like a penis when it popped out of the ground, though, so they had to scrap that idea.

Funny story; Alan Miller, one of the guys behind the Atari 2600 stopped in today at the museum I part-time in, and it turns out he has a mac-dot-com address. Hopefully it doesn't close down, because it would sure be a loss of a historical figurehead in my line of work!

There probably is one, even if we haven't seen it. We've never seen the TV, even though the gang has watched it in a couple of strips and has played video games on it in a few others. It's been awhile since we've seen them do either.

Or has more prestige.

It could be a case of allowing him to mingle more freely. Plus, janitors can pretty much go anywhere they want without question and without being bothered. Especially if they're carrying a florecent light bulb. It's the janitorial equivilent of carrrying a clipboard and looking worried.

For some reason I read that acronym as UBERMODs every time. Which is sort of accurate, I guess, given that their general purpose is to restore order to the thread and make epically awesome posts which are hard-hitting yet sensible.
Or maybe Tergon's just always like that, I don't know. Haven't seen him in a while.

I like to think that Yelling Bird and "Friends" live in the same general area as the QC cast, so somewhere in that same park, Yelling Bird is shooting a gun at another gun.

There's plenty of canon which makes this particular pairing a possibility, even if only temporary or casual.  But I really don't like the portmanteau terminology - it gives quite the wrong impression, and raises my hackles even when there's no other reason to object  :-P.

After looking at the Wikipedia article for Sparkler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sparkler) to find out what metal they're made out of (i.e. if they're magnetic), I found out what Pintsize has planned for his sparklers:

Quote
Sparkler bombs are constructed by binding together as many as 300 sparklers with tape, leaving one extended to use as a fuse. In 2008 three deaths were attributed to the devices,[4] which can be ignited accidentally by heat or friction. Because they usually contain more than 50 milligrams of the same explosive powder found in firecrackers, they are illegal under U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) regulations.[4]

Question of the week:  How is Pintsize holding sparklers when he has no digits?

How does he hold on to anything? Although it was established early on he can turn his extremities into suction cups, and, with the right software corruption, giant thumbs.

...And poor Paul and company...

There's plenty of canon which makes this particular pairing a possibility, even if only temporary or casual.  But I really don't like the portmanteau terminology - it gives quite the wrong impression, and raises my hackles even when there's no other reason to object  :P .

I agree with Faye, that WAS a nice save.

The caveat: I've been in a situation where I'm trying to hang out with people for as long as possible all too often before, and it NEVER goes well, even for non-romantic purposes. I can only imagine that with romantic purposes in mind, it's going to be just as disappointing for Tai, or outright disastrous as Tai gets more and more desperate.

Dora's still got quite a bit on her plate from her last therapy session (and the following knockout revelation (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2191) from her brother (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2192)), and will probably want to just concentrate on herself and her business for a bit.

Still have to admit that Tai's got game, though. She's demonstrated more ballsiness than I'll ever show (and I'm a guy! What the hell?).

I thought that portmanteau names for a couple were either forbidden or strongly discouraged on this forum.

Tai is giving this her best shot, I salute her for that. I don't think Dora is in the least bit interested mind you. If it comes to Tai making a more direct move, I think she'll be gently but firmly shut down. As much as she wants this, I can't imagine it is part of what Jeph has in store for the future of the strip. I think maybe that Tai continuing to try might be a perpetual part of the background of the story though... every once in a while she'll take a run at Dora, and get equally gently rebuffed. Kinda like a running gag only less funny.

Of course, when I make predictions, Jeph does the opposite.

Maybe I have a weird sense of humor, but I think that a version of that shirt that reads "Schroedinger is dead" would be funny (it wouldn't read "Schroedinger is not dead", because that overlap matrix element is zero).

You made a prediction and then acknowledged the opposite would probably happen...which means the opposite of that (your original prediction) is probably what will happen.
I did consider the potential paradox while I was posting. I can see two potential resolutions for this. Normally I don't make my predictions known to the forum, and Jeph still does more-or-less the opposite of what I expected. In my opinion that means that whether I state my prediction or not, he's still going to do something I wasn't expecting. That's the first (and I believe most likely) outcome.

The alternative is that now I've predicted two different things, he'll do something which is neither of them. Something really unexpected which I couldn't possibly have predicted. Something interesting and novel. Something really out of left field... which might of course turn out to be incredibly awesome and funny.

These outcomes as well as the ones I deem even less likely are all good. Sometimes I care too a little too much about the characters, and really want one thing or another to happen. That's not the case here. I'm quite happy to just enjoy the ride regardless of destination.

Ffffff, yes, this one is gold, and quintessential Nichijou.

I mostly wanted to find the original roll cake clip so I could embed the link in the quote "Why do I have to live life with a roll cake in my arm??!" and feel cool.

Just slice and serve!

That looks a bit like Bolo de rolo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolo_de_rolo) (guava roll cake, popular in Brazil).

Well, it's a jelly roll.  Most of the ones around here are creme filled.

For a savory variation, cream cheese rolled in a deli ham slice (or a bologna slice).

Random Nichijou clip is random.  And extremely weird.  But very funny.

Now all I have to do is find a site where I can get Nichijou videos and my weekend is complete.  (And no, YouTube does not count.)

No, no, no, the scale's all wrong.  More like a short wheel of brie wrapped in an inch-thick steak...

Damn, that actually sounds good.

Sounds tasty. Maybe some romaine and roasted red pepper, for color?

Carl-E, doing that to a steak is just wrong.
