Title: Random Function?

Hi I really wasn't sure where to post this but I'd thought I point out that I think the Random function with QC needs to be updated since it only randomizes up to like 1300. I was pressing it randomly, and I never saw it once go above 1300 and when I checked it by pressing it like 100 times, it never went above that number.

Welcome! I recall someone, maybe Jeph, acknowledging the problem, some time ago. Have you done the obligatory archive binge?

Jeph uses ohnorobot.com to do the random comic function, but it only picks comics that it has data for, and it looks like Jeph stopped updating it around 1290, so it never picks one newer than that. Seems like something he could fix just by coding his own random comic function (it's not hard to do in PHP), considering if I remember correctly, Jeph wrote his own code for his website...

I've offered Jeph the code, but I guess it's unimportant to him.

As for OhNoRobot, we hear from time to time that updated transcriptions are being organised...

For a quick remedy you can use the script (http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,26120.150.html) that kgull wrote for the purposes of playing the QCBand-game.

If you are on Firefox, it may not work. Scroll down a couple posts further down from kgull's. There I explain, how I got it to work.

It gives you three random comics for the price of one. Editing the script to give you just one should be easy :-)

When I saw his tweet asking for PHP code for a random function, I was considering sending the code I use on my site, but the instant I found the PHP file, he announced that someone had already sent him code. Not fast enough, I guess. Plus, the code he was sent is probably better than mine, anyway.
