The 'Terminator' arm (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=_qUPnnROxvY) is one fancy piece of circuitry. I think that fully functioning limbs will be realized in my lifetime, if things keep progressing at this rate. :-D

I was just watching this video elsewhere. I know in one model they can just turn the hand indefinitely, which is unsettlingly wonderful.

I saw that during the week. Items like this have always fascinated me and its just amazing that in the last ten years we've gone from solid clumps of plastic and metal to this.
That said, I'm heading for the hills to a reinforced bunker if Cyberdyne Systems ends up with the patent for this.

I remember seeing a story like this, but the fellow fitted with the new hand went back to the old mechanical claw - he was so used to it he found himself cocking his elbow to release the grip (which didn't work on the new arm).
It's not what we can do that limits us, but the ability to let go of what we're used to doing.
Now, time to follow my own advice...

I want one. Obviously, I also want both my arms to work properly, but I still want one. The skin is a little too far into the uncanny valley though.
The hands are detachable. I'm not sure if they hold their own power source or if that's in the arm, but with a bit of work you could probably rig up a transmitter-receiver pair and have it crawling around like Thing T. Thing...

That is awesome and that is all I can manage to contribute.
