Well, just try connecting to the comic. DDOS in progress.

That would explain why I couldn't read the comic today..... Which is coincidentally why I joined this forum..... Either way it sucks that that happened, I don't understand why anyone would do that in the first place..... :x

Jeph has put it up on his Tumblr (http://jephjacques.com).
-
At the risk of making myself more suspicious, I would like to say that the culprit is NOT me. Although I am wondering how the forums were accessible when the main site wasn't.
-
Something clever in the routing, I suppose; they didn't change the IP addresses to be different as I speculated (or at least they put them back now it's over).
-
Fooft. Damn DDOS. Anyways, welcome, new person, and enjoy the fruits of Jeph's loins.
Labors. I meant labors....yeah. :psyduck:

That was just a practice for the longer DDOS today. The server manager has done something different today to try to defuse the attack (which I understand has not ended, though it is much reduced). The reason that the forum came back before the comic yesterday was a configuration issue; this has been sorted so that today they came back together.

...AND IT STILL SUCKS.
Sorry, old hockey fan chant thing.

In that article note that CloudFlare describe how they absorb such a DDOS - this is the facility the free version of which is now also in front of QC.
