Some forums display upcoming birthdays (where known, of course) on the home page; members can then "spontaneously" wish others Happy Birthday at the appropriate time, typically in a dedicated thread.  This software can also do this, but I haven't enabled it - basically as a privacy thing, but this was my own decision.

Happy day of birth!

I think I've told this story before but I have a friend who has a birthday and anniversary in November and one is at the start of the month and the other is at the end so I send them a message some time around the middle of the month saying, "Happy Some Significant Things Happened Around This Time!"

I'm coming here not because it's my birthday (it's not), but I'd like to get this out of the way: if you know what my birthday is, do not wish me a happy birthday. I will actually get angry. I don't know why, but I can't stand celebrating on my birthday. I just want to have a normal, relaxing day off. that's all I want. I hate undue attention, I didn't do anything to earn it. my father inseminated my mother and then 9 months later I got my brainpan squeezed through a vagina. all I did was survive and then cry and never stop for 25 years.

It's my birthday! I'm 25! I've been in bed internetting till 1pm because that's what birthdays are for. I have now put on comfy clothes and moved to my chair. My boyfriend sent me these huge prints of some photos he's taken, I love them, but I can't hang them up because we're not allowed to hang up framed things because of nails, and there is no way I am going to blu tac or tape these up, they're too nice for that. Today I have no plans, but I think I am going to clean my room and prepare a presentation for class tomorrow, and then tomorrow night I'll join my flatmate's birthday party and pretend it's mine (her birthday is tomorrow).

They work pretty well, and come in different sizes and strengths depending on what you want to hang.  For a print in a fairly lightweight frame, I recommend these specifically.
