You know what VV thinks of vanilla jobs?:(click to show/hide)
One could ask whether she should really tell a 12 year old what she actually does...
Unless words like "eww" and "gross" are slang for "cool" and "awesome" for her... which they very well might be.
Gross probably means gross...but yeah, that's a positive thing to her.I think you nailed it. If Veronica had said, "I work in the sewers, with poop!" Sam probably would've had the exact same reaction.
What I'm confused about is Sam's word choice. Unless she actually knows the context of said spankings (which I have my doubts...), I don't understand how the simple act on its own is "gross."She probably has a very, very vague awareness of the context. Enough BDSM makes its way into mainstream media and marketing in the form of non-explicit hints that a 12-year-old might well have just enough awareness to say "gross!" without really understanding.
Biology just means she wants to study all the frogs. ALL THE FROGS.

Gotta love Jim's face expressions in all the panels. In order:
Biology just means she wants to study all the frogs. ALL THE FROGS.
Yeah, it wouldn't be surprising if she eventually specialises in herpetology.
Well, not necessarily if Veronica is planning on stopping. At least, not until Sam is old enough to actually be interested and ask of her own accord. I don't think it's harmful to tell her at this age, though. Knowing about sex isn't harmful; the attitude that children should not know about sex is pretty harmful.
And that's how Marten got a little sister.Whenever Veronica and Jim want a little time by themselves, they will from now on ask Marten to be the babysitter. Sam wouldn't mind, as she will get to hang out with Faye in their apartment. Pintsize is about to be dissected soon.
I'm wondering how Sam will take having to dissect frogs eventually.Just like I did, I expect; with disturbing glee.
I guess the disturbing glee of dissecting is the most discerning characteristic of a biologist. Disturbing, indeed. Sam will need to practice for her future career, so I guess a dissecting lab in the Faye/Marten apartment is coming up next. Hannelore will go catatonic when she comes to visit. The poor little frogsss...I'm wondering how Sam will take having to dissect frogs eventually.Just like I did, I expect; with disturbing glee.
Marigold must never know…

That pause was so awkward that it made Veronica's hair go black for a second.
Sam is one of my favorite characters. Every time she shows up I smile.
I think this is the first time that Marten and Jim have met "in-strip".Is there any indication they've met off-camera?
They'd be step-siblings, not half-siblings! Half-siblings requires a common biological parent.
All of QC is ruined forever now!

Easy explanation: Marten is wrong.
Yes, seems like Jeph applied a quick fix. Probably after reading mustang6172's comment. They'd be step-siblings, not half-siblings! Half-siblings requires a common biological parent.

Did it get changed in the comic? It says step-siblings now.

Either Sam is really tall for a 12-year-old, or Marten is really short. Or she's sitting on Faye's shoulders, and Faye's sitting on the floor. Maybe it's an intentional thing to fit Sam into the frame better, or something.Puberty is marked by rapid growth. Also, is Sam still 12? How long has it been since her introduction/since her age was last stated explicitly?

Sam knows her priorities ! :-D
Meh.
How often are they going to go somewhere together in a car as a family, anyway?
Marten's supposed to be all grown up and living his own life now.
It's easy for him to play along with Sam and acquiesce to something that seems important to her, but it isn't really going to be much of an issue.
many UK cars only have two.Is that so? That really sucks. (Edit: Fixed quote error)
Interesting to see Claire not wearing a t shirt.
I wonder, has Tai been a bit worried about Dora still be interesting in Jim, or is there another reason why she's happy to hear the dating news?
And it's Cirque du Soleil. (http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/home/shows.aspx)Exactly. Cirque doo Soleil.
There are several ways you could interpret "flip my shit". The first is the intended metaphorical way (boring!) The second is the way Marten interpreted it (literal flipping of shit). But, "flip" is also a slang term for quickly buying and selling an asset (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flipping). Perhaps Tai has recently purchased some shit she now wants to sell. It's also possible she wants to perform a mathematical operation on her shit (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flip_%28mathematics%29). Just make sure to watch out when Tai flops her shit.

I am a master of science with math as my minor. I do not understand a word of that wikipedia article.
Tai seems a bit over-stimulated.

It's algebraic geometry. Very tough stuff. (I did my PhD thesis in algebraic geometry, admittedly almost thirty years ago, and I can almost understand it....)
And did anyone notice that Tai seems to have a birthmark/mole/Big freckle on her left hand near the wrist? Or maybe my computer is just smudged....

Remember that British roads are narrower than USA ones, and the cars are generally smaller (one might also add, the people are also usually smaller, but that would be a sweeping stereotype that would not, in any case, be true).
I am very disappointed that they aren't on Marten's couch.
Funny how a good lay can make you want to change...your entire life. This may have been her first romantic encounter since the divorce, which would make it her first romantic encounter with someone who is interested in her gender in possibly decades.

the Range Rover is great for farmers, and still smaller than USA SUVs!
I don't know, I figured she threw herself into her work after the divorce.Funny how a good lay can make you want to change...your entire life. This may have been her first romantic encounter since the divorce, which would make it her first romantic encounter with someone who is interested in her gender in possibly decades.
Really? 'Cuz I kinda got the impression that her romantic dry spell was a more recent thing, and that she had had at least a fling or two in the years since her divorce. Either way, though, I can understand why she's so enthusiastic. Jim is a lucky boy 8-)

Cute Claire is cute!I dont think we have really get to know him yet.
This seems out of character for Jim. He hasn't shown this kind of impulsiveness before, has he?
Im not...excited about this...

Is it just me or does Claire seem different?(http://i.imgur.com/0sTKhvc.jpg) (http://i.imgur.com/0jbdZTr.jpg)
Hmm... VV has sex and sheds 20 years? :-D Or is it just the glasses?
Huh.... I would've thought Jim had more body hair. I'm a bit disappoint.
"suffers"?
I've been very curious about this during the whole arc, since it seems so far-fetched: what the hell did Veronica say to Jim when she contacted him? (http://questionablecontent.net/2680) How is that first email not incredibly awkward?
Also, at least Marten dated Vicky for two months (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=253) before moving across the country.
Is it just me or does Claire seem different?
... My biological clock is tickling.

Personally, I'm looking forward to Marten's mom becoming a more regular character.

Who says she'll be regular? We don't see much of the Secret Bakery as it is...
Gah. I hate the term "Cali" almost as much as I hate the term "Frisco". Abominable words that have no place in the English language. Then again, I'm one of those folks who regards Emperor Norton as a saint (Second-Class, of course 'cos he's real).
At least "Cali" is actually part of the word, as opposed to "Frisco" which is just ridiculous. Who the hell drops a middle syllable?
Dunno. Do they really go marching in?They do in New Orleans.
Do football players march?
Southampton Football Club is an English football club, nicknamed The Saints, based in the city of Southampton, Hampshire, UK, who compete in the Premier League.

No no, there wolf, there castle(http://images.cdn.filmclub.org/film__4258-young-frankenstein--detail.jpg)
Probably. Talking about the characters like that is generally frowned upon.

Then you're doing it right. Discordianism is supposed to be confusing.
