and ha it's ok um hellogoodbye is a drivethru band, so i'm guessing most indie people wouldn't know them. heavens to betsy was corin tucker's band before sleater-kinney. the weakerthans, breaker! breaker!, and the aislers set are just wonderful.
yea yea i'm sick and i have nothing better to do than sit around and link to awesome bands.
-

And of course Friday I'm In Love by the Cure.
Another one that I sing for DAYS on end (and will now as I've just thought of it again): 'Smile' by the Supernaturals!
"You gotta smile..."
-
so that may be way heavens to betsy sounds familar. i still haven't got over breaker! breaker! being a band name, i thought that was an original idea on my part. heh. and your sickness is my gain, new music is a good way to spend a lunch break.

Nice....I'm planning on getting the Against Me lightning bolt on the top of my arm when I get my student loan in January, despite the fact that there's probably thousands of people who already have it done.
-
X-ray Specs - Bondage up yours.
HA! I remember that from years ago! It was the crazy song that i had to show everyone because it was so pants but so good at the same time!
I don't know how something so bad can be so catchy, but if you listen to "Check the Penis" by "The Penis" a few times through, not only will you probably be in stitches that someone thought it sounded good, but you won't be able to get it out of your head either.
THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD Check the penis THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD Check the THUD penis THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD Check the penis THUD THUD THUD THUD - Kiss the penis.

We're reaching back a while in my music taste... but these all apply I believe.- "Waltz #2" - Elliot Smith
- "Miracle Drug" and "The Town Halo" - AC Newman (which is problematic because I don't know the lyrics)
- "Sexx Laws" - Beck

- Less Than Jake (ditto)
- Millencolin (most of it anyway)
- "Never Had to Knock on Wood" - Mighty Mighty Bosstones (that oughta get me some flack)
- "Mood 4 U" - Reggie and the Full Effect
- "Circles" - Soul Coughing
- "Super Bon Bon" - Soul Coughing (yay for pseudo-techno - actually, the Propeller Heads' cover is catchier)

many songs from R.E.M.
"Country House" Blur. Actually, many songs from Blur.
"Anthem for a 17 year old girl" Broken Social Scene (The chorus sticks with me long after I've stopped listening to it. Don't know why. I'm not a 17-year old girl)
Anyway, there are a lot of others, I just thought of those.
For some reason, whenever I listened to "Svefn-g-englar" by Sigur Rós, i'd have the "tju tju" chant-moan-whatever-it-is stuck in my head for the rest of the day. I'm cured now, after listening to it about 7 billion times.

the weirdest is i have had a combination of the rolling stones "paint it black" and neurosis "all i see is black" stuck in my head as though it is a remix
haha whoa that sort of thing always happens to me! multiple songs enter my head and come together like a remix. somtimes i'll have the beat of one song and the words of another, or just various bits forming one song. it's kinda fun. i've always wanted some sort of remixing program so i could take them out of my head and make them real.

Mock me if you will but "3 Small Words" and "Spin Around" from the Josie and the Pussycats soundtrack rock my freakin' world.
Also, "Laid" by James was a song that I played for about a week straight when I heard it on the Trailer for American Wedding. I still have no idea how I missed it the first time it came out.

heavy metal drummer - wilco
roseability - idlewild
ever fallen in love - buzzcocks
-
i get all sorts of stuff by the moldy peachs stuck in my head. and alex, YEAH, i have wanted to learn some basic DJ remixing skills for that exact reason. well that and so i could get recordings of various animals mating calls to mix at high speeds to shatter club peoples and ravers minds.
love&molotov suggestion of the aquabats reminded me of the jabberjaw cover that was on cartoon network by pain.
and i get gin and juice by dr. dre stuck in my head, and it's legion of covers.
-
ahaha that's a good reason to learn dj skills. damn those ravers. they don't need brains anyway
whoa i forgot
"nostalgia" by the buzzcocks
"thorns and roses" and "throw away style" by the exploding hearts. well basically the whole album is a catchy joyride.
and of course, the captain planet themesong. hell yea.
-
they have brains? haha, kidding...for the most part. if i'm around groups of people who use so much glitter it makes my skin crawl i start questioning genetics and if there is anything in the water.
also the rave song from homestarrunner and TROGDAR get stuck in my head alot. also both at the same time sometimes.
and woah, i forgot "orgasm addict" by the buzzcocks.
-
Mock me if you will but "3 Small Words" and "Spin Around" from the Josie and the Pussycats soundtrack rock my freakin' world.

I'm in total agreement on those 3, they DON'T GO AWAY!!
-
"Nothing is Wrong" by Gomez
"The Final Arrears" by Mull Historical Society
"At Home He's a Tourist" by Gang of Four
-
Mr. Brightside is catchy as hell.
-
The first two that come to mind are 'I Saw Cinnamon' by Dressy Bessy (actually, pretty much anything by Dressy Bessy ever... seriously.) and 'The Future Freaks Me Out' by Motion City Soundtrack. Oh, and 'Luckiest Guy on the Lower East Side' by the Magnetic Fields (but that's more of a subtle kind of catchy).
-
"Evil" by Interpol is not only Interpol's catchiest song, but one of the catchier songs ever written.

"Evil" by Interpol is not only Interpol's catchiest song, but one of the catchier songs ever written
Totally, its the reason i set out to buy th cd, however , i only found the demo with "evil" and "narc"
But i didnt read all of them to see if its ben said, but a lot of weezer's stuff is catchy.
-
I have to say that 'Burn, Piano Island, Burn' by the Blood Brothers is very catchy, and I only kinda like it. I've often gone around humming that bit about pollinating the flowers of fire.
I also tend to get MDM songs stuck in my head, curse their hooky choruses! Arch Enemy are particularly good at doing this.
-
Bulldog Mansion - Happy Birthday to Me
Can't get it out of my head.

DQ Blizzard and Fette's Vette by MC Chris
-
"our retired explorer (dines with michel foucault in paris, 1961"- the weakerthans
Goddamnit, that one's been in my head all week. Also, Plea from a Cat
Named Virtue.
The Black Keys write some seriously catchy songs, too. 10 AM Automatic and Til I Get My Way, for example, are impossible to get out of your head after listening to them, oh, fifty times in a row or so.
Someone mentioned Staring at the Sun by TV on the Radio. I agree, but I'd have to say that song would have been a lot better if the rest of the album had been at all listenable.
-
Hot Hot Heat may have a monopoly on incredibley catchy (yet quality) songs right now. XP
-
agreed, but humble rodent does get me often
-
You asked for it.
"Dance hall dance hall dance hall everyday dance hall dance hall dance hall everyday DANCE HALL DANCE HALL DANCE HALL EVERYDAY"
-
Haven't read all the posts yet, and I may be a bit biased as a veritable Metric /whore/, but
"Dead Disco" by Metric.
-
King Herod's Song - Jesus Christ Superstar
But the catchest song to ever come out of this damned earth is The Internet is for Porn (from Avenue Q)
-
How about...
Ring ring ring ring ring ring ring banana phoneeeee
-
RAFFIE!
-
YAY!
No.
My Red Hot Car - Squarepusher
I don't like any of these songs but they are catchy
Apply Some Pressure - Maximo Park
Honest Mistake - The Bravery
Toxic - Britney Spears
And I can't remember what it's called, but the song that goes "You spin me right round baby, right round"
Ironically, "Can't get u outta my head" by Kylie Minogue is also quite hard to get out of your head.
AND I WANT IT THAT WAY!
-
Toxic...I'll agree with that. It's demonic catchiness powers are irresistible. It's like they create a force-field that pulls at the pelvic region in a circular motion... =cough= sorry, that's what Chris said. ^^
-
>MF Doom-rap Snitches knishes (rap snitch kinishes?)
King Gedoraaaaaaaahhhhh. MF Doom is my favorite thing ever. One bad mufuka.
King Herod's Song - Jesus Christ Superstar
But the catchest song to ever come out of this damned earth is The Internet is for Porn (from Avenue Q)
AAAGGGHHH! You don't know how often my brother plays King Herod's song on the piano. He is not very good at it, and it's really annoying. But sometimes me and him rock out to "Pilate And Christ".
Also, I've only seen Avenue Q, and only once, so I've only heard each song once. And I remember all of them. They are uber-catchy. My personal favorites were "Schaddenfreude", "Give Us Your Money", and that "The more you ruv someone, the more you want to kirr dem" one. That was comic gold.
My vote for catchiest song ever is Howl A Little by The Sugarplastic. See for yourselves:

Baudilere -by- And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead

There are tons and some good ones posted already. I'll have to look for some more.
-
The Arrogant Worms--Canada is Really Big
-
Or just anything by the Worms. Speaking of them I haven't been on a trampoline in a while. They used to be me and my friend Jordy's "sing on the trampoline band". That, plus me and him chant "Meat Sandwich" by GWAR just about we see the other eating a meat sandwich. We've also been known to break out in "Tropical Iceland" every once in a while. Have fun getting THAT one out of your head!
-
Amen to Tropical Iceland, definitely a catchy song.
I think most of Wild like Children by Tilly and the Wall is fairly catchy, and
Travis is also catchy, 13 Memories in particular.
Global Eyes by The The, which is catchy in a pretty sinister way.
Even Tom Waits has been know to be catchy, in his own way, on Real Gone, fx. Trampled Rose and Hoist that Rag...
-
"Ebony and Ivory" - Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder
This song has ruined my life, whenever i listen to it, i will sing it constantly for the next three days.
-
Rap snitches/ tellin all your bussiness/ sittin in the courtroom be your own star witness
damn good song, probably the catchiest thing ever
P.S. Captain, kick ass avatar. i gave away stickers that looked exactly the same at a show i hosted
http://www.boycott-riaa.com
-
Oh man, I forgot The Walkmen! Whenever I listen to them, I feel that I'm going to sing the song for days.
-
http://www.ebaumsworld.com/flash/dubdub.html
Honestly. =sings= dub dub dub dubdubdubdubdub....
-
And I can't remember what it's called, but the song that goes "You spin me right round baby, right round"
it's Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)"
i always thought that dude was boy george when i was ten.
i think the futureheads ("decent days and nights" specifically) are pretty damn catchy, and a lot more enjoyable than the hot hot heat
and i agree about doom/geedorah/victor vaughn being really good, but i'm not sure how catchy that dude is. i liked the song with the line about duck sauce soy sauce you don't get no toy boss. i don't remember the exact wording for that one offhand though.
and his steel mask is pretty cool when you see him live as motherfuckin doom
-
doo doo doo-doo-doo
Ma-nah-meh-nah!
you know, that old bit from the Muppets.
-

BAD-GER! BAD-GER! BAD-GER!
http://www.badgerbadgerbadger.com
-
while we're on the topic of catchy songs about animals...
Llama llama llama llama llama llama Duck.
-
That Badger song was (and is still) the soundtrack to our media room, being as the paper we write for is, conveniently, called The Badger.
So that damn song has been stuck in my head for TWO YEARS.
-
The Beatles - Honey Pie.
Catch me sleep deprived and caffeine fueled, and without a doubt, you will catch me singing this song.

Dramarama - Anything, Anything
phew... thats an abridged version
-
Radiohead-creep.
I can't help it.
-
Anything Metric's ever released is like musical heroin.
-
Absolutely. Metric is musical heroin injected straight to the jugular.
=nods= I'm not sure if you can survive that, but hey. It works.
-

I get to go see that next week.
I hate you and love you at the same time. I'm not sure which more.
-
Lightning Bolt - Dracula Mountain. There's one part in that song that's been lodged in my head for months. Which is a good thing. Also, Toto - Rosanna. Soft-rock perfection, and about as easy to shift as baked-in grease.
-
Although it's unlikely anyone here will identify with this, but bad power metal is often scarily catchy: Winterlong - Nosferatu, Ninja Magic - Return of the Ninja, stuff like that.
-
anything by the advantage
-

BOLEMIC RAINBOWS VOMIT, WHAT! Haha, God, I love that song. I remember I had to review it right when that album came out (wow, a while ago) and hering it for the first time ensued the reaction "WTF MATE?".
I dunno for me:
The Safes - Sing Along
WEEZER
That aweful Ashlee Simpson song

Eagles Of Death Metal - I Only Want You
Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus
Ted Leo/Rx - Timorous Me
-
...Len - 'If You Steal My Sunshine'...
Damn you.
I've had that song out of my head for 3 years now and had thankfully forgotten about it.
-
Transplants -- DJ DJ... seriously, it's been stuck in my head for days now.
Also, pretty much anything from the Hives, Hot Hot Heat, Fiery Furnaces, and a handful of White Stripes songs (for me, mostly Blue Orchid, Hypnotize, Black Math, and We're Going To Be Friends)
-
That awful Ashlee Simpson song
Which?
-
...Len - 'If You Steal My Sunshine'...
Damn you.
I've had that song out of my head for 3 years now and had thankfully forgotten about it.
Muhahaha... I'm gonna track down their album one day, just for the hell of it!
-

-

Damn you.

I'd forgotten all about that song too, so I went and downloaded it. It's good! Next time I see my mate Yorkie I'm going to have to chat Len with him, I know he liked them back in his youth.
-
That awful Ashlee Simpson song
Which?
There's only one, she just put them on a cd 8 times and named them differently.
-
Mr. Blue Sky - Electric Light Orchestra
This Beard Is For Siobhan - Devendra Banhart
Yellow Spider - Devendra Banhart
Pink Triangle - Weezer (i know Weezer has been mentioned several times, but this one tops it for me)
Ruby - Apples In Stereo
Imaginary Ordinary - Architecture in Helsinki (Augh. I had this one in my head throughout my German exam.)
Everyone's A Little Bit Racist - Avenue Q Soundtrack (Yeah, The Internet Is For Porn is great, but this one and If You Were Gay are my favourites)
Remember? - A Little Night Music
Maxwell's Silver Hammer - The Beatles
Chicago - Bis
Runaround Sue - Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Natural Disasters - Enon
Short Attention Span - Fizzy Bangers (Please don't ask XD )
The Best Of Us - Fugu
Man Ray - The Futureheads
Kitty Kat Song - Gshack.com (You know the one. 'Cat? I'm a kitty cat! And I dance, dance, dance. And I dance, dance, dance!)
Act II Prologue: So Happy - Into The Woods (Pretty much anything that Stephen Sondhiem ever did is wonderful. Except for West Side Story. That was just crappy.)
Pale Horse - John Vanderslice
Anything from the Katamari Damacy soundtrack. It's just that cool.
Guess How Much I Love You - The Lucksmiths
The Way I Feel Inside - The Zombies
Cat? I'm a kitty cat! And I dance dance dance, and I dance dance dance!
-
OH GOD! My friend was singing that for about 3 hours once until we were forced to beat the living crap out of him....seriously....my ex-boyfriend and I jumped him!
-
"Cat? I'm a kitty cat! And I dance dance dance, and I dance dance dance!"
Thats about on par with "Badger badger badger badger badger badger..."
It doesn't help much that I live in the 'Badger' State. All over stores are named Badger This and Badger That... blah blah.
That song is impossible to get out of my head.
Speaking of catchy internet songs... anybody mention this yet?
"Its peanut butter jelly time! Its peanut butter jelly time!"
there you go, there you go
-
Maxwell's Silver Hammer - The Beatles
Seconded. I want to actually start a band called the Maxwell Silverhammers. They did it with The Boo Radleys, so why not? I think it sounds good.
Besides whatever I said earlier:
Chameleon - Herbie Hancock [Headhunters Band]
Angel Eyes - Roxy Music
My Iron Lung - Radiohead
Just - Radiohead
Saphire Bullets Of Pure Love - TMBG
Kindred Spirits - Liquid Tension Experiment
Congo Square At Midnight - Chuck E. Weiss (basically just the jewish Tom Waits)
The Suits Are Picking Up The Bill - Squirrel Nut Zippers
Danger Woman - The Aquabats
Sleepwalkers - TMBG
etc.

Can't remember if it's been said yet, but evey year, we have this fundraiser at my school. It's called 'stop the madness', and for good reason.
Anyone remember The Hamster Dance? Yeah, you know the one I'm talking about. Well, once every year, they play the hamster dance over the PA system NONSTOP all day until they get fifty dollars in donations.
it went on for two weeks before they realized that not only were the students burnt-out, the teachers were going mad.
Anywho, that song has been burned into my brain for all eternity.
Do-de-dee-di-dicky-do-doh...
-
Your school hates you.
Also, Captain Beefheart is the uncatchiest music ever. He's like the anti-catch...ness. It's amazing.
-
Your school hates you.
I wouldn't disagree with that. ^^ Why do you think the campaign was called 'stop the madness'? It came to the point where students would show up first thing in the morning with ten dollar bills, hoping to shut the damned thing up sooner. Even the TEACHERS started donating.
All in all, it raises a lot of money.
Lucky me, stop the madness week starts next monday. =rolls her eyes=

Er, you have heard the album 'Clear Spot' right?
Aphi, this is one of those times in your life where in years to come you will sorely regret not skiving off until they knock this bullshit off if you don't do it. Seriously, I really wish I'd spent more time skiving off school when I was younger.
-
I prefer :wumpscut: 's cover of the Hamster Dance.
da-duddle-diddle-de-doo-doo...MUAHAHAHAHAHA
-
As much as I like wumpscut, i'm going to have to say that version is pretty lame. But I think the hamster dance is lame in general so that may be a misleading statement.
-
OH GOD! My friend was singing that for about 3 hours once until we were forced to beat the living crap out of him....seriously....my ex-boyfriend and I jumped him!
Did you take his wallet? It's always nice to reap the benefits of a nice crap-beatin'. And I do so love the beatin's.
And hey, at least the song is about cats. As opposed to something like snails. Snails don't have that 'musical quality' that cats do.
Chameleon - Herbie Hancock [Headhunters Band]
Agreed. I would also like to add that Herbie Hancock is completely peachy, and that the songs King Cobra and One Finger Snap are catchy as well.
I would also like to include:
Come On Eileen - Dexys Midnight Runners (I know some of you are going to say something like, "HOLY CRAPXORZ, THAT SONG IS POOP." but I really kinda like it.)
Fish Heads - I have no idea who it's by, but on my computer it's credited to a Dr. Demento CD. (I think it's kinda cute. In a really creepy 'get away from my house before I call the cops' kinda way.)
California Dreamin' - The Mommas and The Poppas
Friend Of The Friendless - The World Inferno Friendship Society
That's all I can think of right now.
-
Anything off of "Heartwork" by Carcass. Plus "Corporal Jigsore Quandary".
-
Er, you have heard the album 'Clear Spot' right?
Clear Spot, Unconditionally Guarenteed, and Bluejeans and Moon Beams don't count. I'm speaking more of Trout Mask Replica/Ice Cream for Crow/Lick My Decals Off Baby.
-
whoever brought up Len yesterday, is gonna get my sunshine crammed right up thier ass, i con't get that shit out of my head and i'm going insane

Moonlight In Vermont's catchy!
-
Come On Eileen - Dexys Midnight Runners
Skyclad covered that. Fidddddles!
Speaking of the 'clad, they have some mighty catchy tracks. Helium, Fainting by Numbers, Crux of the Message, Spinning Jenny, Jumping My Shadow, Little Miss Take, History Lessons, On With Their Heads!, Penny Dreadful and Schadenfreude come to mind, as well as A Good Day to Bury Bad News and Hybrid Blues from the Ridley album. The Clan Destined's only completed track 'Swingin' Like Judas' is pretty catchy too. Hell folk metal in general:
Finntroll - Midnattens Widunder/Vargtimmen/Det Iskalla Trollblod/Fiskarens Fiende/Kitteldags/Forsvinn Du Som Lyser etc.
Korpiklaani - Crows Bring the Spring/Shaman Drum/Wooden Pints/Gods of the Wind etc.
Wuthering Heights - The Bollard/Land of Olden Glory/Longing For the Woods etc.
Cruachan - Susie Moran/Ride On/Bloody Sunday/Viking Slayer etc.
Waylander - Born to the Fight/Plague of Ages/King of the Fairies
The Lord Wierd Slough Feg - Sky Chariots
and so forth.
Since LightThievesAll has already gone for Carcass, I might as well stop not mentioning crap like that. Huge amounts of death metal and melo-death are catchy as crap:
Bloodbath - Outnumbering the Day/Ominous Bloodvomit/Breeding Death/Eaten/Cancer of the Soul/Trail of Insects etc.
Grave - Soulless/Into the Grave/Haunted/Extremely Rotten Flesh etc.
Pretty much all of the first two Gorerotted albums
Arch Enemy - Leader of the Rats/Ravenous/We Will Rise/Angelclaw
Pretty much all Arsis
and so on. Some black metal as well, I've always found Immortal really catchy.
yahr.

I apologise. And laugh, which may detract from the sincerity of aforementioned apology...
I dunno about 'Moonlight in Vermont', but that 'Moon Over Parma' song from the Drew Carey Show was quite catchy...
