She has a sort of equilibrium, which is better than many people manage, but she shows no sign of being happy or growing.

I prefer the Hannelore model. The problems never really go away (because, in the real world, they don't) and whatever therapy she chooses, if she does, is nothing more than addressing the symptoms. However, with time, her desire to be with her new friends enables her to have the desire to learn to control and manage her fears and her pain because the reward is so much greater.

She'll probably always be brusque and shy but she'll have friends and want to spend time with them, even though she'd need to focus her emotional strength to handle it some days. Of course, there will be days when she'd be happier just sitting at home working on her Whateverthehellitis she's building out of old domestic technology bits and I suspect that the QC crew would respect her need for respite.

I suspect, based on strips 3147+, that Bubbles is about to take up the habit of vaping.

Nicotine is certainly closer to a chemical weapon than tea. It used to be widely used as an insecticide.

Vaping does not require the use of nicotine. It's just aromatherapy on-the-go. She'll start experimenting with various volatile esters: tea leaves, coffee grounds, lemon zest, turpentine, etc. to custom design the nose-trip that she likes best.
