Title: Elon Musk: Free the AI
Post by: jwhouk on 27 Apr 2016, 17:42
Elon Musk wants to free OpenAI (http://www.wired.com/2016/04/openai-elon-musk-sam-altman-plan-to-set-artificial-intelligence-free/?mbid=nl_42716).

Obviously this is a QC-related subject, but I wasn't really sure where to put it. (If this would be better off in CLIKC or DISCUSS, Mods, feel free to move.)

Opinions?

Very interesting article. Unfortunately, it's too late at night and I'm too tired to get all the way through it right now, but I'll read it again tomorrow and see what I think.

The site bitches about ad blockers and insists I subscribe.

I don't have ad blockers, and I'm not going to subscribe.

Still can't read the article, though.

Odd. I have an ad blocker and the website doesn't care.

It's almost as if adblocker-blocker scripts on websites are a bad idea.

Or at least harder to implement properly than they seem.

The idea is that if you have a bunch of AIs:

1) No one single body of power will control it, starving of misuse

2) The chances of getting a not-psychotic one rise

3) Most importantly: If multiple powerful AIs exist, they must develop cooperation, empathy and so on or risk destruction, increasing the chances of getting friendly AI
