Well, it's an old Philips laptop: 486 DX/2 66Mhz, with 4MB RAM and a 240MB hard-drive.
I'm going to use it for all my old games which refuse to run under WinXP!
Commander Keen, Major Stryker, Crystal Cave.....
Call me lazy, but I don't wanna screw around emulating on my current machine.
Anyway, It's got some weird workgroup version on Windows 3.11 on it, for controlling Lego robots. This would be totally awesome if I HAD any Lego robots, but I don't. Is Windows 3.1 downloadable from anywhere?
i know nothing about Linux, but would it be an option, with 4MB of RAM?

People seem to be able to make linux run on virtually anything.

It can run on basically anything. It's magic!
The computer sounds...good for $20, although I once scored a working Compaq for free (dumpster diving, yay!).
-
I got a 1993 Apple laptop (I think it was a powerbook), for free, but it since has passed on.

I got a 50$ PC, with 4 gig HD, 256ram, and win98, plus a screen.
AND IT RUNS!!!!!

First d/l a copy of linux and throw it on a CD. Then you'll need an old-school program that can edit the partitioned portion of your HD (the one that holds the boot-program and OS). Most modern editors won't let you edit it because it can "endager" your computer's preformace. Anyways, once you install the OS into the partition, your boot-program will load Linux instead of the shitty Windows OS you have on there right now. I have a good editor, but I can't think of the name atm. It's lost somewhere on my desk. :\

Well, I reformatted and copied over a win98 DOS-boot for the main partition, left about 40MB to use for a floppy-sized linux install (tomsrtbt)
CD? what is this strange technology you speak of, sir?
Heeheehee! I can play Crystal Caves (http://www.3drealms.com/caves/)!
I bought a pack of 5 dosgame disks about 12-13 years ago. All the data is still there, on these 700KB chunks of retro-goodness! Includes Commander Keen 4, Avoid The Noid and many more!
Even better, it has VGA-out, so I can plug in my 19inch 8ms LCD monitor and work around the shitty, shitty response time which is the product of the mid-1990's. And it doesn't matter when I touch the screen to make funky psychedelic patterns! (the laptop screen that is, NOT my Hyundai L90D+)

Crystal Caves was the game that sent me geeky. I've never looked back.

Commander Keen
You win for the ultimate coolness that is commander keen.
Get some of the original space quest games too.

Avoid The Noid owned my childhood.
Fucking owned, I tell you.
