roseon, maplestory, conquer online, d. o online, dark and light, face of mankind, gate to heaven, KAL online, MU online, and maybe Xiah(which are my favorite MMORPG games...that are still in beta testing ^^)
do ne of you play em?
-
DragonRealms 4 lyfe yo.
-
I waste my days away playing WoW. :D
-
How addictive is WoW?
I've been thinking of getting a mmorpg, but I don't want to risk disapearing into the computer and getting fired for not going to work.
-
I've played EQ, and City of Heroes.
City of Heroes is vastly superior.
Getting into Guild Wars in about a week... but it's not exactly an MMO. Sort of a hybrid.
-
im playin ROSE ONLINE
its free, and it rocks
-
i play "the lands of evermore" (a MUD... so technically also an MMORPG) and tried two or three free MMORPG (like anarchy online) but usually i hat the controls which are completely different to established 1st person or 3rd person games controls...
-
I played Shadowbane and then Lineage2. I put way way too much time into Lineage2 and followed my clan to WoW. WoW didn't do it for me so I went back to Lineage2 and now I'm free of MMORPG's completely. I have a feeling I'll back to L2 though :(
It seems I start to play the game and stay because of friends.

I was able to configure both EQ and City of Heroes to function off standard 1st-person controls.
The WASD + mouse controls cannot be beat... only made better by this guy:

It RAWKS.

I play madrom. Best. MUD. Ever. (Telnet: madrom.org 1536)
-
Xiah is currently rocking my socks. it's free, too.
-
i am looking for free MMORPG's to play as i have no life. links would be nice, as i am too lazy to google it
-
Curse the double posting!
-
Lineage 2 rocks. I played, had a lvl 34 Treasure Hunter for teh win! Anyways, I quit for EQ2, which I quit that because I didn't have enough time anymore. Good times though. The grind in L2 was horrid, but it gave me a feeling of accomplishment. Best part about L2, open PvP . . you don't like someone? Kill them! Until I see a game in the "Next-Gen" MMORPG PC games, I'll be playing my beloved RTS's.
-
im pretty satisfied because lots of the good games are still in beta testing->free!!
muahahh!!!
-
Dark Ages of Camelot!
Only like, the best one, EVER. It kicks Everquests ass in my opinion (fuck EQ2s better graphics... they stilldon't have PvP)
I haven't been playing in a while because I'm broke, but mmmmm this summer... *drools*
-
Diablo 2. Lets all just face it; It was the first MMO.
-
And still one of the best. Barbarian 4 Presidenté.
-
I haven't seen many MMORPG's in stores, it might be because i live in Australia. I had to get Star Wars Galaxies shipped, but i only played that for a month. I would like to get City of Heroes shipped too.

Meridian 59 - 1996
Ultima Online - 1997
Nexus: Kingdom of Winds - 1996
Lineage - 1998
Everquest - 1999
Ashron's Call - 1999
Diablo II - 2000
Putting aside the fact that DII is not an MMORPG, it was hardly the first.

L2 lacked a lot of elements but had/has a lot of potentional. The grind is bad but it's the reason a lot play the game. The open PvP could destroy weeks (xp loss) or months (item loss) of effort in a few short PvP matches. All of this made you build a strong trust with your clan because an action of a single clanmate fell onto the entire clan.
I played a lvl 60-something SwordSinger on Bartz.

You sound like my roommate, played all the old games and can't find a new to that's better. :)
-
ahh i dont pay for em
beta-testing.
-
I used to play Planetarion, those were the days
-
I've played MMORPGs since Ultima Online, but I think Shadowbane has to be my favorite so far. I play mostly for PvP, and Shadowbane did PvP very well. Also, it had a completely player driven economy which I have yet to see since.
WoW is also immensely addictive. mmmmm
-
Diablo 2 came out in 2000 now?
I was sure it was well before that. Wait, its 2005 now? Damn.
-
Diablo came out in 1996 and was also multiplayer, but that's still a really big stretch to call it an MMORPG.
-
Diablo was only 16 levels, and only four people could play a game at once.
That's not massive.
Same logic follows through with Diablo II. And it's not even an RPG. I mean c'mon people, just because it falls into the fantasy genre doesn't make it an RPG.
click-click-click-click-click-YOU WIN! hardly constitues an RPG.
-
i was all about Ragnarok Online when it was in beta. have yet to find an mmo that's as cute and as cool as that one.
-
I play this one free game Fairyland it sounds dumb, but its actually pretty fun.

It's as much an RPG as many of these current MMO's. And I refuse to believe that you don't know there was a lot more to D2 that click click click.

massive has never had anything to do with amount of levels, the name just happens to also apply there. its always been about number of players, so the statement about diablo only have 4 plaeyrs would be correct.
diablo 2 was an rpg. rpg=role playing game= game wher eyou play the roll of a character and often build up said character over course of the game
-
I only ever played SWG,: my current box isn't up to WoW spec, and when I get it updated, I'll be playing City of Heroes and/or Auto Assault
I was a big player of Planetside tho, but thats more like a MMOFPS with a bigger killcount :)
-
I used to play UO since the Beta days... sigh.. it was never the same after Richard Garriot left.
IMO, UO was done so well that it was my bar or measure on all MMOs until WoW. Even though the graphics weren't as fancy as the newer 3D ones, I thought it had the best world and mechanics. Of course I'm a huge Ultima fan.
WoW is currently taking my very limited free time.
When Dungeon & Dragons Online comes out, I'll probably try do that one too.
oh, Kai. I can't telnet to madrom. connection refused. any idea?
-
Eve Online, Guild Wars.
Trade Wars!
-
LORD!
-
I played UO when i was a kid for about 5 years. It was and still is the best MMORPG ive seen. I watched my friend play ff11 and i was like wtf why cant you make clothes or chairs? where is your llama?!! when i was on uo i played on free servers so it didnt cost a dime plus they had all custom scripts to include races and stuff.
-
DragonRealms rocked my world a while back, but I can't afford it just now, even though it isn't really expensive.
Damn you, lack of income!

WoW is ridiculously addictive, i cant get enough of it, only drawback is you have to pay
guildwars is meant to be good too, you only have to pay for the cds for them then you can play without paying,
and legend of mir 2 is meant to be good too, though i wouldnt say its as good as WoW or Guildwars
apologies if these have been mentioned, i tend just to scan through large topics like these
-
Basically, buy Guild Wars. It is the only solution (to anything).
i'd say, very good sum up of what to do, but im still not sure whether Guild Wars will be as good as World of Warcraft
-
not played WoW, and only played the beta of GW, but GW is awesome enough to win in my opinion
plus, no monthly fees
-
i want guild wars :|
-
Free UO's are pretty dang cool. I used to play on Obsidian Shard, but its been a while.
We need more MUDs!
-
and it has no monthly fees, making it the obvious choice
-
I got Guild Wars today and have been dying to bring it up. Now that i have a chance i have nothing to say about it.
I've only ever played another MMO which was SWG, and it beats it hands down, the fact that their is no monthly fee's makes it better from the get go, and they way that it has been made is brilliant. I can't wait to start playing some heavy PvP action, however, i need to train my puny lvl 6 monk/elementalist.
-

I'm here to tell you that it is already better than World of WarCraft.
wrong
-
and don't forget that while GW is "free" you're capped unless you buy "expansions". Think Magic the Gathering.
-
Actually, they stream updates to you, and expand the world at will. This is not EQ, people.
-
I play runescape on and off, and a bit of mu and knight online too....well used to. Nowadays its 10 minutes of runescape before i get bored and go outside or something...
