ADOM (http://www.adom.de)
Roguelikes for the win.
-
Old-school R.P.G.s. Specifically, the Ultima series. Even more specifically, Ultimas IV and V.
-
Kung Fu Chaos is one of the most entertaining games I've ever played :D
Er for me; Deus Ex (1 AND 2), Half-Life 2, Medieval: Total War (Yes I know I need to get with the times and buy Rome), and Counter-Strike. :D
-
I just found my Sim City 2000 cd. I love that game.
/me disapears from the world.
-
The best of the meagre few which i actually own. Among many others *cough*
Fallout 1 & 2
Beyond Good And Evil - Bestest Game Evar!
Far Cry
Deus Ex

Grim Fandango is still my favourite game of all time. Nothing has beaten it for me.

I lived my life on those games! Especially V!
I have a copy of every single one of them from Akalabeth-UltimaIX, both underworlds, and the 2 spinoffs, and UO. :P I also have the 2 Gameboy ones!
I've also spent countless hours trying to program my own versions on everything from Fortran, Assembly, and VB6.
So what games am I playing now?
- Mario on DS (kinda sucky)
- WoW
- Shining Soul for GBA
- Daleks on my Palm Zire! <--- second only to Ultima!
-
Some of the best games I've played in recent memory:
Resident Evil 4
Mark of Kri
Gran Turismo 4
Guild Wars
-
Kings Quest I-VI. Fuck VII.
LucasArts adventure games pretty much always owned. SAM AND MAX 4 LIFE
Let's see, uhm, Half-Life 2 (and CS:S), Deus Ex, SimCity, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Civilization I and II... yep, that about covers it for me, for PC at least.
-

Quoted for emphasis.
Also, Deus Ex is awesome and easily better than Half Life.
-
metal gear solid 2...
haha hiding in the box... i swear i'd dick around with that for hours and just laugh.
-
Kai: The problem is, Valve didn't promote HL as "open-ended" and then deliver a game that's, to put it in a word, not. I love Deus Ex, but "a couple of different choices and the ability to end the game one of three ways" does not strike me with the same openendedness as a game I totally forgot.
Namely, Spider-Man 2 for consoles.
-
That game (Spider-Man 2) is awesome.
-
Knights of the Old Republic is definitely one of the best games I've played ever. Then again I don't play console titles.
Deus Ex is one of my favorite games of all time. I didn't like the second one (but a lot of hardcore fans of the first game don't like the second). Deus Ex is better than Half-Life - I think they're equally revolutionary, but Deus Ex was more immersive for me. In fact, it's the most immersive game I ever played, and that's despite its graphics.
StarCraft kept me entertained longer than any other game, with Diablo II being a close second. I think replayability is very important, which is probably why I liked those games so much.
I enjoyed Prince of Persia: Sands of Time too, but I only played it through once, so it doesn't get as high on the list.[/list]

I'm pretty sure this post was supposed to go in the "good Xbox games" thread instead of becoming its own topic...

OMG how could I forget grim fandango?
awesomeness!

I've always loved the fact that the soldiers don't even notice it unless they run into it, and when they do, they take half a minute just to figure out there's someone under there.
Some of my all-time favorite games:
Soul Calibur II (I'm still building up my Cassandra on Conquest Mode in the arcade...)
Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter (Before the VS. games went all to hell)
Space Channel 5 Special Edition
PaRappa The Rapper
Dance Maniax
Toejam & Earl (Possibly my favorite game EVAR)
Shenmue
Kingdom Hearts (I heart this game so much, and will probably orgasm when I pick up KH2....)
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Devil May Cry
Hot Shots Golf
Earthworm Jim
DDR (Yeah, I'm one of those.)
the .hack series
GTA: San Andreas
The Simpsons: Bart vs. The Space Mutants (It was hella hard, but hella fun.)
Battletoads (Ditto.)
Mega Man 4 (I played the hell out of this one when I still had a functioning NES.)
That's all I can think of right now.
-
Oh MAN, has anyone else heard of or played Micromaniacs for PSone?
-
^ yes
So much fun. I liked MicroMachines V3 better though ...
-
Hmm, never played Micromachines... For some reason Katarima Damacy (damn I am never going to remember how to spell or pronounce that game) really brought back the urge to play Micromaniacs.
-
Bomberman on the SNES with a couple of multitaps. At least 8 players (could you have 16 or were the other 8 computer generated?). It was just so awesome.
-
I know it's old, but Breath of Fire II is still a great game, and I will love it forever.
Also, Fatal Frame scared the crap out of me. All the Silent Hills except for II are quite good as well.
-
I remember Breath of Fire 2 kind of. Well, I remember fishing and at some point you could make up a little town. If I am thinking of the same thing.
-
This (http://www.gamengame.com/America/games/navyfield.html) looks pretty great. It's been awhile since the last enjoyable naval warfare game.

Yes indeed, that is BoF II
I think it was incredible work for it's time, although, the fishing annoyed me a bit.

Knights of the Old Republic
KOTOR2
HL2
CS:S
Medieval and Rome Total War
Starcraft
-

Holy wow. I ended up just going to the more in depth page to look around and got sucked into reading about all the various ships. Yet more impetus to purchasing a personal computer...
Niatinari those were the only things I really remember about it, I only played a friends game. It seemed neat and I kind of wish SNES games weren't such a pain to track down.
-
