Oh, god I've been procrastinating getting this since its release...Just picked it up, like twenty minutes ago.
Effin amazing!
I am loving every minute of it.
Rebellion (Lies) has to be my favorite track.
-
EDIT: Searched for 'Funeral' on Pitchfork.com Thank goodness for predictability.
Pity, the thread title looked promising.
-
Arcade Fire's album.
Its good, but not 'effing' good.
-

Do they sell funerals? I just saw farm implements.
-
Rebellion (Lies) has to be my favorite track.
I endorse this post.
-
My personal fav on that album is In the Backseat
and yes, the album is 'effen AWESOME
sad thing is I dont know when TAF is coming here to do a concert
-
I enjoy it. When I'm not listening, I'm not sure why I like it. Then I listen to it and smile.
-
Great album. The songs I like the most are the ones that show more of the punk influence, like "Tunnels" and "Laika".
-
You'll get bored of it around 15 listens.
-
I disagree, I'm on number 17 and I'm still loving it.
-
I can't say I'm in the habit of counting the number of times I've listened to a particular album . . . However please don't make baseless assumptions about me or about my future behaviour. It irks me, severely.
-
It doesn't irk you.

Unidentified animal says "grrrr . . ."

It actually took me a while to get into this...
I just thought "Oh yeah, they're sad, they're singing... Almost whining.... its kinda slow... ok...."
I think it was all the hype about it that got me...
And I didn't like the chick singing...
But then suddenly I listened to it one day and just thought WHOOOAAA thats Great!... Funny, but thats seriously how it was, and now I smile when i listen aswell... Yay.
-

I second that. I never feel like listening to it, but when I force myself to sit down, put on the headphones and just listen...and suddenly I remember why I enjoyed it the first time.
-
Third that. The only song I can ever recall when I'm not listening to the album is "Wake Up". But when I do listen to it in one sitting, it's great.
-
Fourth here
Tunnels fills me with joy too.
-
Arcade Fire is very "meh"
I had a friend who tried to get me into them. not sure what he likes about them.
-
Energy? Songcraft? Melody?
-
They didn't strike me to be an exemplar in any of those three qualities.
-
well, i guess that just makes you wrong, huh?
-
Hey guys, google search Intervention, it's a new Arcade Fire track, you can get a couple of live recordings of it. I think I like it better than just about anything else except Tunnels, Power Out and Rebellion.
And yes teh Arcade Fire rock. And I've seen them live. Twice. And it was awesome.
-
you.....bastard!!!!
they havent been to the west coast yet, but rest assured, when they do, I will be second in line to get tickets
-
why not first?
oh and I am so unhip that I haven't even listened to the damn album yet, only Wake Up, which is a nice song, diverse you know...;)
-
what if they're girls?
...gah sorry I just couldn't resist ;)
-
come on, arcade fire being great is really old news. we should start talking about bands that haven't even been signed yet. great frontment that haven't been born yet. that'd be fun.
-
I've got a whole bunch of the little tykes running around in my top-secret rock 'n' roll cloning lab. Just wait 'til those test-tube Bon Jovis get old enough to start using hair-care products!
-
inlander, you are hereby invited to my birthday party. you excellent, excellent bastard.
and james, i was joking at the time, but now i think it was a perfectly valid thing to say. come on, funeral won't mean as much to you in a year as it does now, let along five years down the line. the future of music, exciting new bands and new sounds, is what we have to look forward to, not listening to the same old albums over and over and over.
-
Zekterellium I'd be delighted to come to your birthday party, but finding somebody willing to babysit half a dozen pre-pubescent David Lee Roths can be a real bitch.
-
well, i guess that just makes you wrong, huh?
not really.
-
hmm... we could just buy a big black bag of tight spandex trousers and raincoats and let the little tykes while away the afternoon searching through it and trying them all on? that, or get them all a calender of naked chicks in sunglasses. that outta work.
-
why not first?
because I am nice and will let a friend of mine get that honour.
-
you hideous scenester.
James, I do so love you.
-
teh arcade fire rulez.
well, they do. I especially like Tunnels, Kettles and In the backseat. But damn, the singer sounds annoying at times...
-
I love the Arcade Fire, but after this thread, I think I love James more.
-
james is pretty awesome, i'll give you that.
-
Next ish
THOR VS. THE HIDEOUS SCENESTER
Stay tuned true believers!
-
well, i guess that just makes you wrong, huh?
Internet hi-five! C'mon!
-
(peeks out) erm...i like haiti the best? (the rest of the thread kind of confuses me).
-
James already has my "Best Poster Ever" award.
-
i do enjoy the album, especially kettles. replay value isn't unlimited, though.
-
Pity, the thread title looked promising.
Anybody love uber-depressing Norwegian doom? ;) *raises hand*
-
It's good 'wandering about the city on the TTC' music, but doesn't otherwise do it for me.
-
I bought Funeral after I saw Arcade Fire @ Coachella. Live, they blew me away, and the album effectively brings me back to that. I loves it. S'yummy.
-caul
-
Whoever, said it gets boring.
I've had that in my six-disc cd player (Just so you its not out of laziness I listen to it.), and no other CD has played on that thing since it has entered the stereo. Thats how much I love/listen to it, daily.

Hails to one of the most oft-forgotten genre namers.
-
I saw them live a couple of weeks back in Manchester, that was phenomenal, although I wish it had been a smaller venue (as always).
Didn't the album come out last year? In the US anyway...
And the EP is goooooood. But not as good as the album.
Roll on Reading festival (despite it being the worst place to see bands really)!
