Title: Internet comic recommendations
Post by: Schmendrick on 17 May 2005, 17:22
I've been looking for more internet comics to read, but I'm having a hard time finding ones I like. I already read Questionable Content (obviously), Scary Go Round, Cat and Girl and Penny Arcade. Any suggestions folk? Thanks!

Here's a few to get you started:

-Rob and Elliot (http://www.robandelliot.cycomics.com/index.php)
-Beaver and Steve (http://www.beaverandsteve.com/)
-VG Cats (http://www.vgcats.com/)
-Sluggy Freelance (http://sluggy.com/)
-Diesel Sweeties (http://www.dieselsweeties.com/)

Most of them you can just dive in from any point. However, Sluggy Freelance you should start from the beginning or else you'll be totally lost before too long. :)

Thank you for suggesting rob and elliot. 'Who's the Boss' and 'Saved by the Bell' references are okay with me. And thanks to everyone else. I'm going to check out all the comics you suggested.

My favourite Australian webcomic:

5031 (http://www.24hourcynic.com).

It's just a weekly gag-comic, but it's a good one.

And here (http://www.phantaststaffing.com/links.php) are my regular reads. Fair amount of overlap with Torg's big list and what the others posted. First mention that I see of either PVP or Dr. Devious.

Holy crap, torg! Do you eat and sleep in front of your computer?! :) That's a lot of comics, especially if you're trying to read most of them regularly.

Sam and Fuzzy (http://www.samandfuzzy.com/), Niego (http://www.niego.org/index.html) (I figure this is the start of the current story line (http://www.niego.org/comic/comic68.html) if you're not the type to start at the first comic), and Medium Large. (http://www.drinkatwork.com/mediumlarge.html)

If you like QC you might like http://www.stillhonest.com/
its indie/punk music related (the title comes from an aganst me! song) and like jephs work; its one of the rare webcomics that is well drawn, and well written. Its also one of the top 5 funniest I've ever read, and I've read a bunch. anyways, hope that helped.

ps this ones my favorite =)

Back to QCForuns! One webcomic you MUST see is Nine Planets Without Intelligent Life (http://www.bohemiandrive.com/comics/npwil/episodes). Itīs very Douglas Adams-ish and you must read it from the beginning (http://www.bohemiandrive.com/comics/npwil/episodes/1) to understand the history. I fell in love with it in the first comic.

Another one, very short and insane, is The Perry Bible Fellowship (http://cheston.com/pbf/archive.html). Itīs so weird that i just canīt stop laughing.

That's debatable...

Neither site updates regularly.

I don't care if a webcomic author/artist wants to update once a month, or once an hour... just maintain some consistency!!!  I hate visiting a comic that I love (like VG Cats) which promises an update on a certain day, only to find no update.

Speaking of VG Cats... WTF?  If he's just late with this week's comic, then he's... like... 3 days late... which sucks, because you're guaranteed that every second comic there is pure freaking gold!!
