Title: Pimp out/admit to your musick
Post by: KharBevNor on 07 Jun 2005, 14:50
We haven't had a thread in this mode for many moons!

Me, I make wierd/crap electronic music:

Empire of the Daleks (http://www.soundclick.us/fastkG/09/05/freemp3/haloofflies+empireofthedaleks.mp3)

Deathcrush [Genocide on the Dancefloor Version] (http://www.soundclick.us/fastkG/09/05/freemp3/haloofflies+deathcrushgenocideonthedancefloorversion.mp3)

(A dance cover of 'Deathcrush', by Mayhem, who, for those of you who don't know, are a black metal band)

Salvation [Industrial Overdrive Remix] (http://www.soundclick.us/fastkG/10/05/freemp3/haloofflies+salvationindustrialoverdriveremix.mp3)

(A more industrial-style remix of my earlier track Salvation (http://www.soundclick.us/fastkG/01/04/freemp3/haloofflies+salvation.mp3))

My  Soundclick Page (http://www.soundclick.com/bands/5/haloofflies_music.htm)

This stuff is basically just me tiding over my musical expression till I can actually do anything half decent with a guitar.

So, who else here makes music? I've set the bar to jump pretty damn low.

I posted some of my guitar tunes in the last thread we had like this, so in this one I'll post some of my lo-fi covers.

Elizabeth on the Bathroom Floor (http://www.personal.leeds.ac.uk/~mat4cft/Christopher%20Tedd%20-%20Elizabeth%20On%20The%20Bathroom%20Floor.mp3) - The guitar was recorded in one take, which is why it fucks up a bit, and the guitar and vocals were recorded at about 4 in the morning. Originally by Eels, of course.

One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong (http://www.personal.leeds.ac.uk/~mat4cft/Christopher%20Tedd%20-%20One%20Of%20Us%20Cannot%20Be%20Wrong.mp3) - Originally by your man Leonard Cohen

I play bass in a band with no current name, we just started up.....still missing a drummer.  Nothing recorded yet, but from the sounds of things, perhaps soon.

My band. Teh only good songs are the top two. Well, they might all be crap, but the rest are from one to two years ago.

I'll put up a link to my electronic music sometime, if anyone's interested.

I really liked your stuff. But you need to add some vocal to In Remote Part/Scottish Friction. Please?

Ah, that one was recorded while at university, where I don't have a microphone (and also can't really sing as freely as I would like), and where I also don't have a guitar amp, hence the rather crappy distortion (created by overloading the preamp on the recorder, then routing it back through, overloading it again. Lo-fi indeed). But yes, it needs some good Scottish poetry reading going on, definitely.

Navigate yourself over to my website (http://www.thefortunatesun.com/fortunatemain.htm) and head to the "Music" page; there you will find happy fun goodness along with the pop-punk crap I used to write.

I am the sole member of my "band."  I'm not interested in other members, nor live shows, nor scenes or scene politics.

Over the last 6 months or so I've been writing music, then scrapping it, then writing more.  My musical style is constantly evolving and I'm slowly working up to the point where I want to be at.

At the moment I'm working on a concept album.  It will be a long long time before it is done..  I'm putting every ounce of my heart, soul, and musical ability into it.

From a technical standpoint, my music is obviously black metal. . my composition style ranges from slow and depressive to very epic.  I use some keyboards, and some acoustic guitars as well.

I forgot about this thread -- I recorded some of my drum practices in 1-minute segments (using a deskmic and windows sound recorder). I'm using them to pinpoint my errors and work on those specific downfalls.

I'm not at my home PC, so I can't upload them to anything, but I will when I get a chance.

I don't so much make music, but kind of manage and pimp a friends band. They're called the Plimptons and can be found in Glasgow, Scotland.

We have a notorious song called We R Franz Ferdinand 2, which is supposed to be ironic rather than serious. You can download it as a zipped mp3

Careful when you visit the website at www.theplimptons.co.uk cos theres this streaming audio of one of the more annoying songs called Jolly Top Hat. The cool thing about Jolly Top Hat is that I've hand drawn a video for it. Which you can also download from the site as a WMV file.

Crap local bands don't have enough music videos. Its easier to make them than it is to actually record songs.

I'm hopelessly addicted to the odd mix of bagpipes, didgeridoo and 80's rock that is Brother (http://www.brothermusic.com). They haven't put out any new albums in two years, and... okay, I only have -ONE- of their albums, the live "This End Up" album, but it's fan-farking-tastic.

Go, check their site, and find out how to make a Didj of your own... it's easy! Playing it's the tricky part. It's kinda like a cross between a tuba and a kazoo.

I'm in a band.  Sort of.  We've recorded a few songs but they're all demo versions.  We're looking for a new vocalist and we really really really need a drummer.

I am to blame for the bass.  And no, I'm not putting up anything online.  Sorry.

Hmm, that label thing looks interesting...might try sending them a demo, once I've put one together.

Just finished a couple of more folktronica/synth-folk type songs, 'The Forest Wakes' and 'Vinland'. I'll put them up in a bit.

I have a band but we're on hiatus due to the fact that we need a new drum kit and I'm not sure whether or not we have a bass player anymore. I don't even remember who nwas gonna sing.

A song about domestic violence.

The lyrics are bad. Bad as in EMO.

Probably best to treat them as just another instrument ;)

Yeah so I'm not sure that anyone here would be interested, but I finished an album I'd been working on for a year and a half-ish and thought I'd whore it out all across the internets. It's called Century of Aeroplanes (taken from a Debussy quote), a combination of post-rock/electronic/jazz type things...specific influences include Mogwai, Do Make Say Think, Outkast (ATLiens era), Sigur Rós, Boards of Canada, Radiohead, M83, yadda yadda yadda.
