Anyone heard of this band? Three guys dressed up as women and play really cool music.
“It’s a joke, right?”
Three guys in drag, clinking away like monkeys in heat at their home-made instruments made out of clotheshorses and pickle jars, hollering vaguely nonsensical slogans about the importance of cleaning…
Despite the apparent flimsiness of their self-customized ‘drying racks’, their sound and teamwork are tight and sturdy in a punkjazz kinda way, and despite the undisputably avantgardian approach, the actual songs are danceable and easy to relate to, with enough nuances to transcend most genre boundaries.
“Intergalactic industrial disco rock”, somebody came up with, “ambient afro-techno riff crunch”, tried another one, “really NEAT music”, most people realize.

Do any of the other Australians here see the title of this thread, see that it's in the Music forum, and think "Sadie the Cleaning Lady"?
I had a small moment of terror when I thought maybe John Farnham had somehow managed to persuade the world he was cool, a la Kylie Minogue.

woo! I like bands with odd gimmicks for some reason.

At BDO, Perth, she went around (if i remember correctly) with those cowboy pants on, and nothing underneath. NOTHING. (you know those leather ones that just cover your legs)
i think their tactic is to try and seem different and somehwat outrageous through being openly 'dodgey'. i don't mind what i've heard of their music though, such as rollercoaster toaster, etc.

You guys heard of the Norwegian Turbonegro?
They are just fun to look at on stage...
-
ah, yes, they sure are odd lookin'! good fun!
a lot of bands do the 'odd-lookin' thing-
e.g
Marilyn Manson- the eyes! i know there's more, but yeh. they're pretty darn odd.
Kiss- the make-up. G-I-M-M-I-C-K
The Darkness- UNITARDS!!
and Boy George- just plain strange (and irritating)
D'OH!!!! of course!!! The Village People!!!!
