I reckon the people in charge of MTV2 over here in the Uk read QC, in the past week I've seen about a dozen songs from albums mentioned on the site or in a comic strip, the most recent being:
Autolux - Turnstyle Blues
The Futureheads - a few tracks
The Arcade Fire - Power Out
The Avalanches
The Books
A few Modest Mouse tracks
Considering the state of music over here (the crazy frog ringtone beat coldplay to number one) I reckon this to be a good sign.

When do they play Modest Mouse, the Avalanches and the Books? I've never seen anything from them, except when Float On was big.
Arcade Fire and Futureheads are big in the NME charts - DUH they'd play them. Jeph is just the harbringer of good music for those of us who don't immerse ourselves in the indie music media. MTV2 plays what people want, and what they're paid to play (hence all that FOOKIN COLDPLAY). Mod Mouse are on Epic now and had OC play etc... if they were played it's because there's going to be a hyped single from them soon... the MTV2 dudes don't set the agenda based on this webcomic. It just so happens that an indie website and an ostensibly indie rock channel are going to collide in band choice at times.

The Arcade Fire - Power Out
.
That song is dynamite

Most of these are played at midnight/1ish, but still, I reckon theres a connection. Or I've drunk too much coffee and my mind is playing tricks on me...

MTV2 was much better when it was just a twenty-four-hour broadcast of music you get on the programme 120 Minutes (without any adverts!). 90% of my early music-buying was influenced from it when I was younger. Bands like Mylo, Spacemen 3, Clinic, David Byrne, Loud Reed, Mogwai, My Bloody Valentine, Flying Saucer Attack... none of whom you see on MTV2 nowadays. Mores the pity!

I hate Zane Lowe
He is MTV2 spawn.

When did My Bloody Valentine and Mogwai get played on mtv2? and which songs?

I remember when i almost had a fit when "premiere of Arcade Fire video tonight at 9" was shown on MTV2. I cancelled everything. Hogged the tv, and tuned in to see a 60 second interview with the band interespersed with 5 seconds of the King's gig.

God that advert pissed me off!!!

Here in the UK, no popular media caters to my musical taste whatsoever!
Seriously, with the exception of some of the classical stuff (they mostly play boring italian composers) and the odd thing on the rock show on Radio 1/Radio 6: Zilch.
That's why I mainly listen to speech radio and watch the Discovery Channel.

Speaking of talk radio, a station around here kicked off this guy by the name of Russ Johnson, who was the coolest host ever. He was talking about this guy who was chasing after somebody who stole a purse and he grabbed onto his car and was dragged and then died when the car crashed. He said that he was heroic but that it was a stupid decision and that it wasn't worth it. Then he got alot of hatemail and they booted him. Now they have some shithead guy on there that I've always hated and I hate coming home from work now.

All I've gotta say is: The Wedge. Fridays, 11pm, channel 29.
Sing it.

My band is bigger then your band, we do more drugs then a touring funk band!
Best thing on MTV2: WONDER SHOWZEN!
-
Agreed. Wonder Showzen is so awesome it blasts the skin off of babies' faces.

When did My Bloody Valentine and Mogwai get played on mtv2? and which songs?
A few years ago I saw the video to Lose My Breath (very strange video) and Stanley Kubrick (even stranger). Seeing these videos is what got me into My Bloody valentine and Mogwai in the first place (I hadn't even heard of them before that). I caught 120 Minutes quite recently too and saw the cartoony Hunted by a Freak. very cool.

I have to thank MTV2 for getting me into indie a few years ago. I used to watch Subterranean every Friday night with a pen and paper, writing down artists to check out.
I got into a lot of bands because of that show.
I haven't watched it in about a year, though. From what I've read, it's gone to crap. Oh well.

I would like to apologise on behalf of the New Zealand people for Zane Lowe. If you ever get the chance to hear his band Breaks Co-op don't. They suck. Pathetic Acoustic Warbling Co-op, more like.

I never really got into MTV because they never seemed to play anything but what the record companies payed them to play. VH1 has a little more variety but not much thus I was left with independent radio or show's like NPR's All Song's Considered. I'm lucky that I live in a city where all of the radio stations haven't been bought by the multinational corporations so you can still find stations which don't have play lists with the same 25 songs.
