Print out a few of these for you and your friends before you go to a show.
-
that's awesome
lol but i could already cross at least 2 of those of which would apply to me being old school chuck taylors and the blogger with a camera (perhpaps even the too small sweater, hoodie, or the ironic trucker cap depending on the night)
AGGGGH am I a hipster????
-
you could always go here (http://www.hipsterhandbook.com) and find out.
-
I think I'm/own nine of those things. OUCH. Tha shit's pretty funny though, its like a melange of everyone you would see at a Bloc Party show or something :P
-
I own none.
-
Someone needs to adapt this for the UK.
-
I have the ironic moustache. Not in that style though. It's more like this:

or:

VIVA ZAPPA
-
I 'm gonna print that card up and take it to street scene.
-
I've seen this card a bunch of times. I do own an old trucker cap my uncle gave me but never wear it as I look stupid with it on. The card is very true though. The items on it apply even at very small shows.
-
I see a lot of Asian hipsters smoking Parliments. Does that count?
-
Only if they're uber-hot, apparently.
-
Am currently sporting ironic moustache. Have been guilty of some of the others, too.
Hipster!
-
I am somewhere between nine and 11 of these things. Depending on booze and cigarettes.
-
I have one thing on hipster bingo but I have 9-10 of the things on "clues you might be a hipster."
-
Only if they're uber-hot, apparently.
Not even.
-
Oh well, so much for Asia then!
Anyway, this is all reminding me fondly of the Bullshit Bingo (http://elsmar.com/level2/Bingo.html) craze from a few years back. Very popular in white-collar towns like Canberra.
-
The only thing I qualify under is the old school vans. Viva la Suicide Machine CD Cover Fashion styles....
-

Oh dear. Some of the things I do...
EDIT: What the hell? Stupid GIF transparency!

Twelve for me. Cliche-refic! And the heart and anchor tattoo. Wow.
-
I so got the free spot.
-
I get four: The circa-1968 jagger haircut, old-school pumas, too-small sweater and hoodie.
-
I get none. But I see every single fuckin' one of them on Brunswick Street every day (well, if you substitute local crap beers for the Pabst and Miller), plus a bunch that aren't on there.
-
I have two. The hoodie and zee glasses. But that's only because i am blind and chilly!
Wait, and possibly 'the blogger with a digital camera' too..
-
dammit, 9 of those things have either currently, or at one time applied to me, and 3 of them will soon. I'm in the market for a cabbie hat and some chunky frame glasses, as well as slowly approaching 30.
-
Not a single one.
*wails on a guitar to celebrate his unsheepiness*
Though I'm sure that a very similiar thing could be drawn up for metal concerts which I would cross a few boxes on.
-
none.
go team.
-
glasses, hoodies, chucks. i like em. i ain't not a hipster

Don't be knocking the PBR! Sure, it's utterly crap beer but, damn it, there's a lot of tradition in that can of Milwaukee's finest. Did you know the PBR was the first brewer to ever sell it's beer in a 6-pack? Also the Blue Ribbon Brewery was founded by German immigrants before the civil war but in the 1880's the Pabst family bought the brewery and renamed it Pabst Blue Ribbon. Much lack Budweiser Beer Pabst was considered to be good beer pre-prohibition but post-prohibition it became mass market swill which was marketed as a low priced beer for blue collar workers.
The truth is I haven't had a PBR or a Miller High Life (The Champagne of beers my ass!) in 3-4 years but I have to admite PBR is actually drinkable unlike other beers in the same price range such as Natural Ice or Colt 45. It just beats the doors off of true garbage beer like King Cobra or Shlitz. ;)

There are loads of sites about Chavs.
www.chavsum.co.uk
-
ha ha. chavs = hipsters.
that's going to make me cry and wet my pants.
and how can you possibly crap on lando calrissian's beer?
colt 45 is GodDAMN smoove.
-
I don't think that was what he was implying, but now you mention it both share an affinity for really shite hats.
-

I would drink a 40 of King Cobra over a PBR any day. KC has that smooth malt liquor flavor you just can't get enough of!
-
mmm Old E for me!
-
i love that in 98, you could buy a sixer of schlitz ice for less than a sixpack of coca cola. it was like 1.98USD including tax or somesuch.
my personal pecking order for malt liquors is:
1. OE
2. Colt 45
3. King Cobra
4. all the other garbage except....
5. mickey's. gah. bech. yurk.
and one fine sunday last summer, i saw 8 of the hipster bingo qualifications walk through the bar door. it was some freakishly tall 30-ish hipster dude wearing high-waters, cons, high-school sports t-shirt, vinyl rain jacket, buddy holly glasses, with the jagger haircut under a PBR trucker hat. he came in, loudly asked "you got PBR in a can? you got cribbage? great. i'll be right back with my friends."
-
Cribbage is a hipster thing? I guess that makes me a hipster, because I sure do love me some cribbage. So does my father and grandfather, so hell, I've come from a long line of hipsters. We're like a dynasty of hipsters.
I knew a guy who worked with me at a music studio, he had at least 12 of those bingo spaces. He was 37 I think, real hip grandpa. :)
-
haha I smoke Parilaments.
Not those pussy bitch lights though, I smoke full-flavors. I like puma's, and uh I enjoy beer. Miller however sucks.

Same here, grandpa even handed down a nice wooden cribbage board (yeah he is still alive though). Wait though, being a hipster is not just about the music we are noting obviously, so maybe this is in the wrong thread? eh *shrugs*
-
since when does hoodie=hipster? ah well, whatever.
does it count if you're not wearing a shirt under it?
p.s. High Life for the win. Although I only drink it cause it's a buck at the bar.
hipster denial? I mean, I live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, that pretty much puts me dead in the middle of the hipster map.
-
i just realised i have a hoodie.
god damn.
-
yeah hoodie feels more emo/skater to me
-

So, interesting question for you: when "hip" is normal, what then becomes hip?

Honestly, it seems to be anything that infringes upon the preceeding urban culture around here, such as graffitti, certain underground hip-hop clubs/djs, living in the crummiest part of town... somehow being able to seperate yourself from the traditional 'rock' hipster culture and make yourself appear to have belonged in Brooklyn all of your life is the new cool.
also, bums, it would seem, have become the Ultra-kitch (sp?)
anyone else living here these days?
