Just picked up Terrorhawk yesterday and gave it a listen today.
My initial verdict: not quite as good as Right Now, You're In The Best Of Hands..., but still damn good.
Favorite Track: "Out Loud Hey Hey"
Just wondering if anyone else has heard it/what you think about it.
And if you haven't heard Bear Vs. Shark, do yourself a favor: do.

It WILL cream your jeans.
Really, I wouldn't compare the two albums. It's just that this one seems to have a dark theme to it, and is a more "swarming moods" type of album. I like them both equally, but to me, Best of Hands and Terrorhawk are pretty different.
5, 6 Killers, man. 5, 6 Killers. :P

I really dug their first album, but I wasn't as keen on the quieter parts. Is Terrorhawk sufficiently loud?
-
I'm definitly on the same team as My Aim Is True. I loved the first BvsS album, but it was all about the loud and raucous bits. Is this album Loud and Raucous?
-
Yeah. Most of the songs are loud and raucous, but I also found the quieter parts raucous, especially since they bring in some horn instruments to create a pink-floyd stoner kind of feeling in the 4th or 5th song. Otherwise, there's a good amount of loud.
It's a lot more moody. The band themselves say they want it to be thought of as an album rather than a collection of songs.
-
There are maybe 2-3 songs that could be considered "quieter parts", but that's only because their level of raucous is not as loud as the other songs. They're still pretty rawkin'.
I'd also like to express my extreme frustration over the fact that Bear Vs. Shark played saturday night in my city, and I completely missed it. I had no idea they were playing. GRRR.
-
Hey, I'm listening to the new album right now! I love it so. Couldn't tell you which album is my favorite, though.
-
Right Now and Terrorhawk ARE very different sounds.
I like the new one, but Right Now is still my favorite.
-
god that album kicks it. i don't think it's much louder than best of hands, but i'm stilla c ouple of listens away from saying which is best.
-
If you want loud and raucous, prepare for "Heard Iron Bug 'Hey! They're Coming to Town!'"
Just a warning. :P

I didn't think the album was too good. They changed WAY too much, too fast for my liking. It's a pretty bad follow-up album to "Right Now."
Anyone hear about Ashley (the drummer) touring with ICP and playing their songs for them?
AND when you guys bought the CD, did you see how it said "For fans of Modest Mouse, the Mars Volta and Q and not U."
Personally, I think that's rather insulting to BVS, Modest Mouse and the Mars Volta sound nothing like BVS, and they suck. Niether do Q and not U, but they don't suck.
I also saw the CD at Wal-Mart.
-
"Everyone you know is selling out..."
-
haha. yeah i was kind of perplexed by that sticker. it's times like that when you realize "i am a target market".
i agree that they did change a lot on the new record, but i still like it. oh well.

First off, I'd rather have them change into a more experimental, flowing rock band than stay a hybrid punk band. I'd rather the change happen quickly, like a Dismemberment Plan album gap, than have a slow build-up, because then, it's not as big a shock or suprise.
I don't know why people say Modest Mouse suck. That's just silly.
I think they are more akin to At the Drive-In, Mock Orange, Fugazi and The Dismemberment Plan. In fact, the record really struck me as "Mind is Not Emergency & Relationship of Command" at first. XP
edit: lol get it cuz I mixed album names. :P
